Peruvian
Cabra Cevicheria is a Peruvian-inspired restaurant by Chef Stephanie Izard, located on the top floor of the Hoxton Hotel, Chicago. Open for lunch/brunch and dinner daily, the lively dining experience is anchored on shareable plates bold in flavor and bright in taste. While limited reservations are available, we encourage walk-ins and will be mostly seating the dining room on a first come, first serve basis!

The flavors and the food were very good, however, our waiter was abysmal. It took him 15 minutes to acknowledge us, and the service didn’t get any better. We had to ask for basic things (silverware, pita bread) repeatedly, and even had to ask both the other serving staff and hostesses if they could please send him over. He was also very rude about our drink orders; we tried for 10 min to get another round, and he wouldn’t make eye contact. When they sent him over, he acted like he already had put the order in; without talking to us. It was it a pleasant experience.

Pros - The menu is fresh and different and the restaurant and hotel is beautiful.
Cons - Slow and inattentive service, rigid / inflexible chef/ menu.

Overall poor service didn't meet my expectation from the group of restaurants and the neighborhood.

My sister and I stayed in the hotel this past week/weekend and absolutely loved our overall experience at the Hoxton. My family and I ate at Cabra on Saturday evening. The ambiance is the best part about this restaurant. We ordered 11 dishes. The food is solid, we really enjoyed many of the dishes that we tried. The ceviches - while the smallest portion size - were by far the standout items on the menu. I work in the food and hospitality business and I have to say our waiter was sub par. He hardly greeted us and without explaining anything about the menu or asking if we'd like drinks (2 people at the table did not have drinks) asked if we were ready to place our food order. He didn't smile once. Also something important to note - the food runners would come to our table with a new dish and see an empty/dirty dish and leave it on the table without clearing it. The frozen pisco was awesome! I'm sure by the end of summer the service kinks will be worked out, I hope this feedback will be helpful!

We had spent an amazing time at Cabra . The food was delicious and nicely presented. The view from the roof of the hotel added extra value to this restaurant. Thank you for a wonderful service, definitely we will recommend to others and will be back of course.

The service was really bad, the server didn’t come to our table. We asked for a glass for the beer for 3 different waiters and only the manager was able to bring it. The food was ok but the ceviche portion was too small, you could count the fish pieces. We left and we were still hungry so we went to another place. Don’t recommend this restaurant.

Food was good, service was lacking. Tables around us were complaining about wait time between dishes, while other select tables had many courses brought out one after another. Did not make sense how some tables had excellent service while others needed to speak up about not getting theirs.

We had a reservation for 2, but showed up with a party of 4. They gave us a great table near the window. Our server was great, she explained the menu well. We placed our whole order and she paced it out perfectly.
I can’t stop thinking about the meal everything was delicious!
My favorites were tuna and quinoa salad, hamachi Crudo and shrimp ceviche!

Cabra definitely lives up to the hype! Amazing ambiance, the food and drink are superb and the service was top notch. They also take food allergies very seriously, with separate menus for egg free and dairy free diners. Each person bringing food out from the kitchen is very diligent about letting you know which foods have been prepared/modified to accommodate each allergy...kudos! I am excited for my future visits!

Food was excellent. Beautiful decor. I didn’t like having to order everything at once. When the server “thought” we were done the check just appeared. We wanted to order more food and drink but felt we were being pushed out so the table could be turned. This made us feel rushed and just a number not a “guest”.

Food was decent. I am looking forward to going back to try the dinner menu. The service was sub par- once one of the guests at my table told our server that she was vegetarian the server rolled his eyes and said, “then I suppose you’d want to see the vegetarian menu.” He handed her the menu and never returned to our table. We received a new server who was much more pleasant and attentive.

Great service, our waiter was amazing and helped spaced out and plan our meal perfectly. I highly recommend the Chicharron as your final dish of the night if you are with a group of friends.

We came at 2:30pm for brunch and learned that they were doing a limited menu, which was really disappointing, since the limited menu isn't advertised. Other places in the West Loop do brunch that late, so I was kind of surprised that on Sunday, they didn't offer brunch. I also was confused, since other people seemed to be ordering things not on the snack menu, like the omelette and waffles (which we weren't offered). I don't eat meat, and there were only 3 things I could order. The snack menu was not great - the queso was so-so, and my empanadas were only half-baked. They were still cold inside, so I ended up not eating most of it. The drinks were pretty good, but coming from Peru recently, the pisco sour in particular tasted really watered down compared to the authentic cocktail. I also had 2 different waiters bump in to me - not sure if it was just an off day for the service. The decor was amazing (and so was the view), but I was disappointed by the food and service.

I went there for Father’s Day with my daughter. While it was a bit cold, the staff lit the fire in the fireplace and made us feel incredibly welcome! They also took pride in their role, the story of the cuisine and the story of the restaurant. We can’t wait to head back!!

Went here for a brunch date. Had to book ~3 weeks in advance to get a reservation for a table on a weekend morning, but it was well worth it! The food was spectacular and the ambiance was fantastic, as well! Dishes are meant to be shared, and the portions reflect that at a reasonable price point!

Everything we tried was delicious and presented beautifully. The place itself is also beautiful. The issue was the service - it took 20 minutes for our waiter to come by and introduce himself...and it was only 5:15pm at this point (with several open tables). We were never asked if it was our first time dining at Cabra and were never walked through the menu. I had to confirm that what we ordered was enough food because we were never given insight into how many plates to order for a table of 2. It also took a very long time to find our waiter to try to order another round of drinks. We could not have felt less special that night (when we were trying to celebrate a special occasion).

On a positive note, the drinks and food came out promptly after finally getting our orders in (although there was some obvious confusion...we kept getting sent incorrect drinks and plates). Our water glasses were also refilled frequently, so my disappointment is primarily in our waiter and not the entire waitstaff.

Went to cabra to celebrate a birthday. We were originally seated on back outdoor patio but due to wind gusts the menus and glasses kept flying off the table so we asked to be seated in another area (which the host stand graciously accommodated). Service was pretty abysmal after that. It took a very long time to get our drinks and there was a noticeable lag between when various dishes were delivered to the table (close to 20 minutes between first 2 dishes and 2nd 2 dishes). The two groups sitting on either side of us were also frustrated that service was so slow and made comments about it. Value was average given the size of the dishes for the price. Was disappointed with the overall experience. But the design of the space is beautiful so hopefully the staff can improve the service level.

Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu, gave great recommendations and was attentive throughout our meal. Great atmosphere for a date, headed out to the pool afterwards to finish our drinks. Amazing views

Beautiful restaurant! Special dinner date, I wanted to impress my date but only the views and restaurant did it. The food was good . Our server was friendly but inattentive . We wanted to order more drinks but got tired of Waiting for our server to show up. We ordered the dessert donuts and they were undercooked (raw gooey dough inside) The manager came to apologize for the under cooked doughnuts and offered to remake them. At that point we just wanted to leave.
