We have dined at Cafe Amaro several times, and unfortunately, our third visit was far from the charm we had hoped for. We ordered the meatballs, Margherita pizza, and chicken Parmesan with spiral pasta. Unfortunately, all three dishes fell short of our expectations. The meatballs were surprisingly hard rather than tender. The pizza was soggy and extremely floppy, lacking the texture we would expect from a properly prepared Margherita pizza. The chicken Parmesan was equally disappointing. The chicken was not tender, the dish lacked flavor, and the seasoning and preparation we had enjoyed during previous visits seemed to be missing entirely. What made this experience particularly disappointing was knowing how much better the food had been on our earlier visits. We returned because we had enjoyed the restaurant in the past, but this meal was nowhere near the same standard. I actually took the time to call the restaurant afterward because I wanted to share our experience directly with the manager rather than simply post a negative review. However, I was told the manager would not be available for another five days, which I found rather unusual. I explained our experience to the person who answered the phone and mentioned that the food seemed noticeably different from what we had enjoyed in the past, almost as though a different chef had prepared it. He said he would pass my feedback along to the chef and mentioned that they were currently training new people. What was equally disappointing was the lack of any effort to address our experience or encourage us to give the restaurant another opportunity. I wasn't calling to ask for anything, but I would have appreciated some acknowledgment of our disappointment and an indication that they valued our business and wanted to make things right. Hopefully, this was simply an off night. We have enjoyed Cafe Amaro in the past and would genuinely like to see it return to the quality and consistency that originally brought us

Arrived at appropriate time for an 8:15. There were two parties waiting to be seated, and they were 15 minutes past their reservation time. There is no place in or near the entrance to stand and save your place in line except in the neighboring doorway, which is where I stood since it was raining. The waiters are the hostesses, completely overwhelmed. They did not check my name when I said we had reservations, just asked time. You can see every table from the front door, most had just been seated and had not ordered. The tables are tiny and you are right on top of one another. We waited until 8:40, I gave my reservation the young couple behind us, and walked down the street to another Italian restaurant.

Excellent food (brick oven pizza and caprese salad) and service. Very small place can get crowded and loud but did not interfere with a great evening.

We had a 7:30 reservation. We got there at exactly 7:30. We had booked it for a regular table, not a high top. When we got there, they only had a high top and the server said we could start there, get drinks, and then move to a low table once one opens up. We sat there for 15 minutes, saw a different group of 2 get seated at a regular table. The server never came to get our drink order. Then we saw another table open up, i asked the server, can we sit there? He goes “no, it’s no it’s for a reservation”. ?. We promptly left after that and took our business elsewhere. I don’t know why we were treated so disrespectfully. I will never be back here and wouldn’t recommend this place to ANYONE! AVOID!

This is a small resturant with great service. We had a classic Caesar salad that was a crisp green salad made with romaine lettuce, croutons, and Parmesan cheese, tossed in a creamy or tangy dressing. The linguine with sausage and spinach was a delicious. Also we added crispy baguette slices with a tasty dipping oil. It was a delicious pleasant dinner in the North End!
