The bartender was hostile and the waiter was inflexible. Our food was fine but not amazing. Wouldn’t recommend this place, and it has a weird kind of vibe.
Food was great. Lively atmosphere. Good place to go with a crowd that doesn't necessarily want to just sit and drink.
Salmon undercooked, service was slow
I went with 2 friends and we loved it all...the drinks, the food and the environment!
Dog friendly environment and the mimosas were very good too!
Great food and service. Restrooms are far away due to share with aloft hotel but great decor throughout
Good food, good drinks, and great service. Lunch on Saturday was a scene but dinner on Sunday was quiet. Order the haddock sandwich for lunch.
Steaks were cold. Food took ages and we never got our second round of drinks by dinner over an hour later. Remedied with shots, still a poor experience.
The hotel/restaurant valet was slammed at 7 with guests checking in so we had to circle around a few blocks several times. The valet company was working very hard but seemed very understaffed. The restaurant was very warm and although our waiter was nice, we were often looking for him. The kitchen is open and we could see him on his phone and chatting with other wait staff. We had to flag him down several times to refill empty water carafes on the table, to order addl. bar drinks as well as when we were ready to order dinner and dessert. The food was mediocre. Not a great experience.
We chose Caroline for a birthday brunch. I'd been to the rooftop deck, which is great for a happy hour. Unfortunately, the brunch portions were quite small. We won the "which fruit is this" sangria game, but the sangria itself wasn't great. Other than portioning concerns, the food tasted good. We had to ask for water a few times, but overall our waitress was fine.
The food was very tasty - although the happy hour "special" of appetizers for $7 doesn't seem like much a deal if they are only $7.95 regularly. The spicy deviled eggs are excellent. The hot & crunchy halibut was really good, but it was a lot of breading and not a lot of fish. The salmon was also tasty, and thank goodness for the pineapple fluffy ice for dessert - that literally rescued the evening. NOTE: If it's hot outside, don't let them seat you in the window. I thought I was going to roast. And the water jug, which is a great thing, arrived with warm water the first time. The restaurant is pretty loud. Weird that the bathrooms are upstairs, because it's part of the aloft hotel, but there's an elevator. Upstairs is even louder!
The ONLY drawback were the flies pestering our table and our guests. We made the best of it and still enjoyed ourselves. Management was aware of the situation and at that time of year flies are a problem in Austin, but other restaurants seem to have a handle on the situation. Having said that, Caroline's is still a family favorite and we will be back!!
I did like Caroline's restaurant, the corner front table they reserved for me and the courtesy call to confirm upon arrival to Austin on Saturday 7/21.
I ordered a glass of Rose wine which was good , and the ambiance was upscale and good for people- watching...
I did also order a Prime cheeseburger to bartender/waiter I think his name was Dakota w/ avocado and swiss cheese requesting it to be medium well.
When the burger came, it was medium rare without the swiss cheese and without the avocado.
I didnt complain or ask for them to re - make, being exhausted from my trip from Chicago and hungry past 830pm
I probably would not go back for dinner, maybe stick to drinks or if had more time , brunch.
It was like Chicago's Beatrix restaurant connected to an Aloft hotel which had better service.
I wanted so much more from this place given the high reviews from others, but I just wasn't all that impressed with the menu selection and the quality/size of what we ordered. The deviled eggs were overcooked and just not tasty at all - very disappointing. The Brussels sprouts salad was drenched in too much dressing with little else but the actual sprouts in the salad (not satisfying). The salmon was simple and good (and the cauli-rice was amazing). Our friend's tomato covered chicken enchilada's were good, but nothing exceptional. We also tried the Shots Fired tequila drink, something like a paloma - it was terrible: all sweet, no tang, no tequila. Sent it back for a prickly pear marg which was decent.
Easy restaurant with a good wine selection. Food was good, not wowed though.
This is my favorite restaurant and I have work to thank for it. I work a block away, so when it first opened, it was an easy choice to try out. the food is AMAZING, service is great, cocktails are superb and their coffee? YUMM.
Overall fun place. Seemed understaffed though. Had a hard time catching our server to order additional drinks.
Loved the outside seating. Food, service, and view were all fantastic.
Food was excellent. Fresh and tasty. We appreciated the low carb entrees. Brussels salad will make you a fan of Brussel sprouts. Perfectly blanched and dressed up nicely.
My go-to for business lunches during the week, happy hours on a Friday afternoon and brunch on a Sunday! Great cocktails (congress ave greyhound is my a1 from day 1, here), amazing food, even better coffee (matcha lattes, y'all)! A MUST GO
I went with a big group of people for dinner and service was really slow. Considering gratuity was already factored in, it felt like staff was a bit lazy.
Cute place in the heart of downtown Austin. We were there for lunch and they had a nice variety of breakfast and lunch choices. They had several unique choices like artichoke benedict. I absolutely loved the nutella filled muffin. The service was great too.
Food was much better the first time I ate there, pretty lackluster this time, had the crunchy halibut, dry and not very flavorful..asparagus had been overcooked at well. A bit disappointing, will try it again though. Corn dip is famtastic!
Sunday brunch is awesome!! The service and food are great, atmosphere was perfect. Ready to go back and make it standing brunch place!
I really want to like this place because it is very stylish inside and has a great buzz but the food is average. Good for a pre- Paramount theatre dinner.
We were seated immediately and provided great service. Our waiter made menu recommendations and provided good advice on ordering. We did wait a bit on the check and ended up going inside to pay, but would definitely return again!
We made a reservation because we knew it would be crazy to be seated at prime lunch hour. Even then we waited about 15 min to be seated. Service was okay nothing special. Staff seemed overwhelmed with the amount of patrons. The hostess even said "it's hard to keep up with reservations and walk-ins."
We had the Brussels sprouts salad and avocado toast. The salad was overly prepared with dressing and the avocado toast was nothing to write him about. Friends ordered main dishes and portions were large (one of the only wins here).
I would probably not be back for food but maybe for drinks on the rooftop patio.
Caroline is quite beautiful in design; modern without being pretentious or overdone. The menu was comprehensive but not too much, which is a difficult balance, and the food ranged from good to excellent. We all enjoyed the avocado toast very much; the artichoke benedict was a big hit, and the egg white omelette was exceptional. The heuvos rancheros were also very good. The chicken and waffles were good but not mind-blowing. Our server, Mo, was very kind and attentive, and we enjoyed her a great deal, though the smell of smoke was a bit much. The pricing felt very fair. For the quality and location, it was as much as I expected, not under- or overpriced. We will absolutely return, probably for dinner next time.
We had a great experience at Caroline’s
Great food. Chicken and waffles is where it’s at.
Delicious food and great service! Looking forward to going again!
Father’s day dinner. Kelly was a great waitress. Food was real good, Halibut and steak.
We came to Caroline for Father’s Day brunch. We arrived a few minutes prior to our reservation, were told it would be a few mins. After 3 parties were sat before us we were finally sat at our table 10 min after our reservation. Our drinks took 20 minutes to come out, my fiancé’s order came out with the wrong sides, my side of bacon was missing and my dad had to ask twice for a glass of juice during brunch. The restaurant was busy but still had plenty of empty tables, so I hate to think what service is like on a busy night.
Food was absolutely delicious but for the cost of our meal the service should have been much better.
Lattes were cold, food was over priced, and service was marginal. I would not recommend this place for brunch.
Great over all!
We would have enjoyed our breakfast more if we had not been seated at the bench area. And a small child close to us had some loud screeches. Next time we will ask for a small table.
Downstairs was good for a date
Upstairs was a little loud but a fun place
The restaurant was extremely busy on Sunday, but I had a reservation so I was seated promptly. Overall my experience was satisfactory, but I was a little disappointed with the Huevos Rancheros. The menu description clearly stated two eggs sunny side up. The waitress didn’t ask for temperature preference so I expected sunny side up and runny. What I received was two eggs that were basically fried well, which was disappointing. The plate presentation was great and the flavors were there, so I left satisfied.
