About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for special occasions
  • Lively
Award-winning Denver chef Elise Wiggins welcomes you to Cattivella, wood-fired Italian in the Eastbridge project in the Stapleton neighborhood where she lives. Cattivella translates to “naughty girl”.

Chef/Owner Wiggins brings decades of restaurant experience to Cattivella and was named Best Italian by Westword and winner of multiple awards for food and service from The Denver Post, 5280 magazine, The American Culinary Federation and The American Automobile Association. She makes an annual pilgrimage to Italy to work with Italian chefs and learn the classic techniques and ingredients that she employs at Cattivella.

An exhibition kitchen is the star of the show at Cattivella and focuses all attention on a wood-burning pizza oven, a wood-burning grill and the graceful dance of the Cattivella cooks.

Service is awesome except for it’s just so expensive for pasta. I was not very happy with the vegetarian pasta dish just made it basically with oil and pasta threw a couple veggies and charge me $18 for it. I told the waiter it’s just missing stuff. It just doesn’t have any flavor. It’s nothing so he brought me some garlic bread that helped a little bit but it just expect more from an $18 dish. Restaurant are a hard business to be in. I make unbelievably amazing pasta dishes at home that would rival any restaurant and all of Denver and yet every restaurant I am disappointed. Just do a good sauce with a good pasta is that too much to ask? Three of us celebrating my friend moving out of town ended up with a $240 bill with tip. Just three glasses of wine, two appetizers, a shared dessert and entrées for each of us. Eating outside in a cupboard patio with concrete floor with a dining room rug not the best ambience. The main dining room was celebrating something with United pilots and I booked out the nicer area, but I couldn’t control that nor did I know about it. Will I be back probably not. The price for the food is just too expensive for the ambience hold. You’re in Stapleton you’re not going out to downtown or anything else. You walk across the parking lot of King Soopers to go to almost a $250 dinner for three people come on Just not watching you would expect for this price tag

I’ll continue to say it — my favorite spot in Denver hands down. This time I had a party of 12. Two amazing servers took care of us. Drink and food came out quickly and the quality never dips. Fantastic all the way around!

All aspects were wonderful. The food and wine were from the Piedmont Region which we had just visited. Our server was very knowledgeable and great to talk to. If we are in the Denver area again, we will definitely come back. One of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time.

The food was amazing. I had the rabbit gnocchi. I had never had rabbit before but it was quite delicious and it combined a lot of unique flavors. Some of my friends tried the multi-course option and everyone loved what they had. If I was in the area, I would definitely eat here again and would highly recommend it to others!

Also wonderful to sit at the bar and watch all the activity. Service was good even in the corner. I had the seafood medley which was wonderful except no calamari was in it. I’ll be back and will ask for calamari next time. Not a big deal go here!!!!

Great experience all around. Very attentive wait staff/host. Food was absolutely delicious and I’m certain that was the best Tiramisu I’ve had anywhere. Lovely evening!
