A warm welcome to the Chequers on the Green, High Halden.

Country dining in a beautiful old 14th Century Kentish inn situated on the village green. We offer local ales and wines from the best of Kents breweries and vineyards to accompany our varied menu . Each week our Chefs produce a Specials Menu using locally sourced seasonal meat, fish and farm produce together with our regular full menu. We are able to cater for special dietary requirements , just inform your server when you visit us of your needs and we will try to accommodate you.
We have a separate dining room area ideal for private gatherings from dinner parties to business and club meetings.
Our outdoor facilities offer a spacious, sunny terrace also equipped with large sunshades fitted with heaters for the colder weather.
In particular , landlords, Andrew and Diane are proud to offer a friendly and professional service from our long-standing team where nothing is too much trouble.

Our menu is predominantly cooked from fresh with locally sourced produce from the surrounding Kent producers. Each week seasonal specials are offered in addition to our varied menu. Vegetarians and customers with special dietary requirements are also catered for. We also offer local wines and ales from Chapel Down, Gusbourne & Simpsons.<br />
Private party facilities
We are delighted to offer a separate private dining room with a beautiful fireplace that can be booked for either casual buffets, seated dinner parties or private meetings. Contact Diane to discuss your event.

Sunday roast at Chequers on the Green is THE BEST by far! It’s our favourite place to go. A choice of 5 roasts OR have a slice of them all. Great quality meat & amazing crackling with the pork. Great accompaniments, vegetables, roasts & loads of gravy & Yorkshire puds. Totally amazing roast and great value for money in a fabulous country pub. Book early as it’s very popular. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. Note to self; go in the week and try the other items on the menu 😂

2nd time we’ve been here in recent weeks and we weren’t disappointed. All the staff are lovely, there is a nice atmosphere to the place. We had 3 courses on both occasions and the food was fab both times. We will definitely be back again soon.

We had an issue with our meal and couldn’t eat it all, we told the server at the time. Although we left disappointed the owner telephoned me to discuss our issues and this shows they value their customers experience and strive to be the best.
