Air conditioning wasn’t working or so they said. The restaurant smelled stale and sweaty. The waitress was very kind and didn’t know how to handle the air conditioning issue. Said she had to check with someone. Then closed an open door and the air conditioning seemed to work but poorly. Started with pani puri. It was good. 8/10. The cauliflower Manchurian was poor. Only 3-4 pieces and covered with a thick glutinous sauce with lots of onions. 0/10. The chicken samosas were very poor quality. The stuffing was dry and the pastry over fried and pretty tasteless. 2/10. Main courses: butter chicken was disappointing. 2/10. Thick tomato tasteless sauce with small pieces of chicken. The goat biryani was tasty but loaded with oil and very few pieces of goat. The lamb shank was tender but again loaded with a thick tasteless sauce. 6/10. The dal makhani was ok. 6/10. Nans were ok. Serving sizes were small. The chef (Hemant) runs a great restaurant in Mamaroneck and has also run the best kitchen at Tulsi in NYC. He needs to get to this restaurant as he is the head chef of CHHAUKA from what I understand. The reason for my review is because I have grown up with Indian food and eaten at the best restaurants and want this restaurant to succeed. The most disappointing part was the minute we got up they switched off the air conditioning and opened the doors again while we were still there. I thought that was very rude. It was my son’s birthday. Overall very disappointed experience.

Five stars. We were so impressed with the service at this restaurant, especially since we had a group member with severe food allergies. We didn’t expect much beyond a basic accommodation for her, but the staff went above and beyond and handled everything with care. It felt like they had anticipated needs before we did, and the attention to safety and detail was outstanding. On top of that, the rest of us who don’t have allergies, we found the dishes to be some of the best we had at any local restaurant. The chef even came out to check in with us multiple times, which really highlighted their commitment to both quality and guest experience. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

Here is the plain facts this is not traditional Indian food if you are looking for a pseudo traditional food this is probably it They don’t know how to make Biriyani chef must take a trip to Hyderabad where one type of Biriyani was born although every state in India has their own version but no one makes it without Basmati Rice oh I feel sadness for the palate for which this menu was created you have no idea what is the Food of the Gods
