Good restaurant but service was a little slow. Food however was good.
Continues to be our top choice to celebrate my husband's birthday every year. The best dry rub bbq ribs! A consistently great experience. I really love the upstairs wine room as well for larger groups - perfect for a group of 20-25 people for a private dinner.
This is the perfect date night restaurant. The waiters were awesome and the entire experience was one to remember. We enjoyed the salads and tastey cornbread-everything was very fresh!
VERY loud, but the food was great, so that helped. Our table was not ready for our Sat night reservation, so we went to the bar...
I found this place from the Food Network when they went in to do a review. I’m from Chicago and never knew it was here. This place blew my mind! Absolutely amazing!!! Food was excellent, service was really good. Mac N Cheese was to die for!
Went with family as our last meal in Chicago. We were immediately waited on. Server brought out housemade chips and pickles. Both of our beverages from local breweries were ice cold with chilled glasses. Started with the burnt end appetizer. I would say there were ~10 pieces plus slaw for that. I had the 3 meat plate, wife had the half chicken, and boys had the mac & cheese. Great flavorful food abound. Would recommend coming with an empty stomach or sharing plates. Portion sizes are huge and we wound up taking enough back with us to the hotel to have a second meal. Highly recommend this place and will be back the next time I am in the area!
Food is very good.
Tables are quite close.
Pretty noisy overall.
Loved our sever! Top notch service and amazing food. Best brunch in Chicago.
The room was too warm and the service was adequate but the food absolutely overshadowed all!
Chips and pickles dangerous they are so good
Brisket and ribs all wonderful
Beans and cornbread awesome too
But wait for it.........you just cannot describe the carrot cake
Obscenely large and ridiculously delicious
Food was okay to good, though meat was a bit tough. Portions were adequate for us though we had salads (including a steak wedge and fish salad) and the meatball appetizer. Chairs were amazingly low and a bit uncomfortable to sit in for any amount of time. Next time I'll ask for a booster seat.
Food tasted great although a bit greasy....the hush puppies and cornbread. The brisket was fatty.
Used to be a favorite and the food quality greatly suffered.
The food was very good. We live in the neighborhood and in the past we have had a good experience. The quality of the food was excellent. Our evening was ruined by some unruly children whose parents did not do anything to keep them under control. Noisy children are tolerable but children who scream, throw stuff and jump in the seats (it was booth seating) moving the whole thing were unacceptable . The lady sitting next to them even have her food and drink spilled by the actions of the 3 little girls. We complained but being a Saturday night there was no place to move us. We were told the family were regulars. If that was the case why were they seated in the middle of the restaurant were almost everybody was of a certain age, trying to enjoy conversation and a nice meal and wine. The waiters kind of disappeared because they were aware of the Disturbance. My suggestion to Q, find a nice corner for the family to enjoy their meal without ruining the evening for the other patrons who want to enjoy their night out. Train your staff to deal with this situations . Just ignoring it is not the right way. We did get a piece of complimentary cake...nice gesture, but I would have rather have a pleasant ambiance
It was a very romantic quiet anniversary with my girlfriend. Make sure to get a table facing the city.
We've been trying to find burnt ends on Chicago BBQ menus, so having read a review that highly praised the ones at Chicago q, we decided to give it a try. I would like to think our experience was just bad luck, but here's how it went down... The ambiance was ok, but I asked for a booth, and both benches in ours had long rips in the material. Our server was friendly and professional enough. We ordered the burnt ends appetizer; a bowl of cole slaw with a decent pile of large-bite-size burnt ends pieces on top. Four dipping sauces are provided. The meat was succulent and each of the sauces was very tasty. I would almost go back just for that one dish. Unfortunately, the cole slaw was gritty, as if something hadn't been carefully rinsed. We also ordered a kale salad, which looked beautiful when it arrived, but had the same grit (as in sand or dirt). This made us pretty uncomfortable. We also ordered the fried green tomatoes, which were thin-sliced, battered and fried, but hard to chew through. I know green tomatoes might not be ripe, but I've had enough fried ones to know they shouldn't be tough under the crust when you bite into them. Finally, we ordered the brisket meatballs, which are served in a bowl with a heaping helping of grits. The meatballs tasted just ok, but the consistency seemed like half meat/half panko, and the brisket flavor was not there. The grits were probably stone ground, as the grain was much coarser than I would have expected (even from stone ground), and the consistency was very thick, dense, and pasty, with no distinct flavor. We told our server about everything, and then a person in a suit came over (mgr?), but did not introduce himself, so my husband pointedly introduced the two of us and asked his name. Awkward. We talked through the issues with the meal, he apologized briefly and said he wouldn't charge us (I should hope not - we didn't eat the food), and that he hoped we would give the restaurant another chance. We probably won't.
This was our first visit and we will definitely be back! Great service, fun place and great good!
great place 4 spare ribs and noisy atmosphère, very lively, service very attentionnée, quantities & quality in line with prices, nothing surprising so....
Great food, fun to share and try a sample of everything. Great service - didn't feel rushed or hassled, even in this busy part of the city.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere!! Celebrated our son’s 20th Birthday. We will be back.
Always such good food at Chicago q. The ribs are outstanding and the red snapper was surprisingly delicious. Great service on top - especially Mario.
We had a delightful birthday dinner at Q with fabulous fried chicken and excellent service.
Q is our favorite spot in the neighborhood. The food is consistently very good and the service is precise. We typically enjoy the pulled pork and chicken. One of the best values on their menu is the Q2 and Q3. You get a choice of 1/2 chicken or 1/2 slab of ribs and then a choice of one of the pulled meats plus a side. This is enough food to eat there and to take home for lunch the next day if you're not a huge eater.
They also offer a really good salad, that makes a good side...Smoked corn and black bean salad. It's delicious with nice chunks of avocado.
You can't beat them for calling in for take-out too and their happy hour, M-F from 3-6, offers great food and drink specials. If you need to have quiet conversation, just ask on your open table reservation for a quiet booth and you won't be overwhelmed. It's much quieter Sunday to Thursday and gets quite lively on the weekends.
The food was excellent! Service amazing. Great cocktail menu also
I was somewhat shocked by the visible wear and tear of the seating.
Great food, service and very nice Q employees. Super good looking manager on Sunday October 21 😉
A lot of food. Very tasty
Great food! Food came almost too quickly and felt rushed.
Cannot believe that Q charges $2 for "rocks" aka "ice"
We all enjoyed the experience and appreciate that they are open late. Great for after the theater!
We live in the neighborhood but hadn’t been back for a while. The menu is more varied now and I liked it better. Still fairly high cost for bbq but overall better
I've walked past this restaurant 100 times. Finally, we tried it, and it was really good.
We'll definitely come back.
Impressive four kinds of rib sauce! Amazing!
Excellent Service and a Perfect Meal
We come here a lot. We always get the Chicago Sour cocktail, the ribs and brisket. It’s always great. The Cole slaw is the best I’ve ever had.
We were very pleased with the service, the food and the atmosphere. Large portions and delicious.
Brisket was dry. Ribs were slightly better, but still dry.
Better than we expected!!
This was our 5th time at Chicago Q and this experience was nothing like the first four that kept us coming back. From dirty menus to being stuck in a side room to the food being just 'blah', not sure what happened this time.
Awesome spot for brunch! Food was great!
