City Cafe - Dallas
Drop by and try our newly revised Weekend Brunch.
The service and food was incredible. I must on my next trip to Dallas.
If you are one that appreciates being recognized everytime you walk in the door, this is the place to go especially for special times, i.e. birthdays, anniversaries etc.
Definitely a great rare restaurant. They really know how to treat you from the moment you arrive till you leave. All the staff and Karim are very friendly and give that added service that you rarely find in restaurants today. The atmosphere allows you to carry on a conversation at your table and your ears are not competing with noise. It's a great place to go, it's like stepping into a comforting space. The food is excellent and a great choice of wine to compliment any meal. Everything I have ordered has been great. Last but not least it is a classy joint that you will enjoy experiencing.
City Cafe I never disappoints. We have been regulars there for many years
Have been coming to City Cafe for 25yr but not recently. Time to revisit!!! Service was very good and our waiter did all the right things; very consistent. Noise level excellent, relatively quiet and easy to carry on a conversation. Began to fill at 6-6:30. Wine choices good for short list. Started with snails and mushrooms in cream sauce that was excellent. Wife had Wiener schnitzel that was nicely flavored; sides ok. I had duck breast and polenta with very nice sauce, but duck sausage was bland and needed something! Everything served hot and with sufficient time between courses, which is often forgotten in many restaurants! Will return for presymphony dinner. Also recommended.
Mother’s Day brunch - Limited menu was disappointing. Especially given that they ran out of crab cakes. Crab was also notably absent from the crab eggs Benedict. The redfish was so over cooked as to be chewy, and the Blum cake and strawberry flan sent back uneaten because they were found inedible by 5 people. The were pear salad and key lime pie were great, though.
In short, entrees fell flat. Very flat.
It was a terrific place to go for Mother’s Day. My only criticism is that it seemed a little pricey for what we got.
Not my first time at this restaurant. ALWAYS had a wonderful culinary experience a well as service!
Great all aspects
Joined friends for a weeknight dinner. From our warm welcome through to our delicious dessert, great evening.
Early Mother’s Day
Great restaurant, great food every time. Highly recommend it to anyone. Gras setting, service is exceptional. A place for those to go to - to be served with grace and dignity. It has become our go to restaurant. You can actually have a conversation and hear each other, unlike most restaurants today.
The service was very slow because there was only one waiter for the entire restaurant. Given the number of tables I suspect that someone did not show to work. There were other level staff there but they did not take up the slack to help the one poor waiter out.
Love the liver and onions here. They are the best!!
The veal was prepared perfectly. There is a reason this place has been around for so long. Service was professional and friendly. I will be back.
Went to City Cafe with my ladies' lunch group. Food was excellent and service was great also. Four of us ordered the crab cakes, which came with roasted potatoes & asparagus, all perfectly prepared. The other 3 people had shrimp & grits, fish & chips and the bean soup. Everyone said their food was excellent. The service was excellent without being obtrusive.
City scare is located aged on the north side of Lovers Lane in a busy strip shopping center with limited parking, but there is a free parking garage on the west side of the restaurant. I highly recommend that you park in the garage. The restaurant also offers valet parking.
Great food & service. The crab cakes were scrumptious as well as the lump crab eggs Benedict.
Mom had a chicken with stewed vegetables. I don’t like chicken or stew. But I’ll order that next time! The sauce was perfect!
Hadn't been in a while, but will start going back to on a regular basis. food and service were great.
Very good food - great attentive service and Karin, the owner, is very personable and engaging!
This was the best dining experience ever! My whole Dover Sole was so delicious!! The service, the wine and ridiculously delicious desserts. 12 stars out of 10!
I'd recommend City Cafe to anyone who enjoys a relaxed ambiance and good food. The service is attentive without being pushy, and the decor is lovely.
Karim , the host, is the best restaurateur in Dallas. The food is consistently excellent. The menu recently changed with great additions.
Greeted like an important guest. The service was great. The food was excellent and reasonably priced.
Went for business meeting. Will go back with my spouse.
Brunch after Church.
City Cafe sets the bar high in terms of quality service and exquisite food! It will be a definite part of our future visits to Dallas!
Fantastic! Wonderful! Love you guys!!!!
Great, service, food, and atmosphere. This is my second time in two months that's how great it is.
Very expensive and not that great. Host is exceedingly pretentious.
Food was excellent. Nice dining room. Food was great.
Excellent service Wonderful food and great wine selection. This is real gem
The parking lot is a little tricky so plan for a few dollars for the valet...who is very quick and experienced. The maître d is amazing, so personable and welcoming, makes us feel like special friends even just on the 3rd visit there. The food is fantastic, from the menu or the daily specials.
Quiet (hard to find these days and very good food.
Lunch with the atmosphere that enabled conversation
Have eaten here many times and been pleased. This time was very poor. Our service was poor. Many tables seated after us were on entree before our order was even taken. We had to have water server summon our waiter to finally get service. Mushroom soup was watery. Liver and onions was very bad texture and bad flavor -ordered by two people and neither enjoyed it. One person had the halibut special which was ordinary at best. A fourth had salmon which was good, but sides that came with it were poor. It was a very disappointing evening and I am not sure when if ever we will return.
Great food but the bottles of wine are over priced!! we eat out a lot and know.
We had my mother's 79th birthday dinner on a Saturday night and got a back table which cut down on the noise quite a bit for our party of 7. Abbey was a great service provider and she was very attentive to our needs. Had a great time and City Cafe is one of her favorite places from the past.
Excellent food but..... table not ready for 20+ mins past reservation time and, combined with slow service, resulted in them being sold out of desired entree by the time we ordered. V-day prices were about 20% higher than normal (for same things) but this information was not provided on website.
City Cafe is one of our most favorite places. We consider it a home away from home--and when we are there, Karim and his exemplary staff (valets included) always make us feel that way. It's like Cheers in the TV series--"a place where everybody knows your name" and is truly glad to see and serve you!
Great place, great food, great service, great atmosphere, great experience--always positive and outstanding in every way.

City Cafe has it all...food, service and ambiance. Love those hot rolls! Look forward to returning.
