Average spot in Doral. The place definitely needs more servers!
We made a reservation at City Works for Saturday, January 20, 2018 to mark my birthday. When we arrived at the place, we realized that it was closed.
When we made the reservation online, we were not told that the place would be closed that day. Disappointed by what happened, we had to choose another of the CITY PLACE restaurants.
Thank God, the night ended well despite all this.
We have not been able to test CITY WORKS yet, so I can not recommend it yet.
We made a dinner reservation for Saturday at 8:00pm to celebrate my husband's birthday. We arrived a few minutes early and as we walked closer to the restaurant, we noticed that all of the tables (inside and outside) were empty. As we approached the front door, the gentleman who inside was by the hostess stand turned off the lights and walked away. A sign was taped to the door advising that the restaurant was closed due to repairs being made. Given that we had reservations to celebrate a special occasion, it would have been courteous for the restaurant to contact us and advise us. We were left without plans, all of the restaurants in the area had a long wait (since it was a Saturday night), so we ended up having to dine at a casual, fast food establishment.
Service was ok, heard waiter complaining to hostess that he didn’t want our table prior to seating us. Food came out cold (restaurant was 1/4 full), but didn’t want to deal with sending it back to only receive reheated food. We really love their tap selection, but won’t be going back for the food. It’s a shame, could be like the Yardhouse of Doral.
Great space and food, but maybe needs to be promoted more to get its name out more. Both times I’ve been there (once during the week for dinner and a second time for Sunday brunch) it was pretty empty.
Food was ok although I feel they changed the menu not long ago. The spicy buffalo dip was really good. Service was good and the waitress was very attentive.
Good selection of burgers varied menu. One complaint on the ribs, not the first they have been over cooked and way too burnt. While they could be quite tasty, and I like my ribs dry, these were definitely left in the grill too long.
For a Saturday night I found way too many small children left unsupervised and running out of control for my liking. While all the adults were at a table by themselves they left seven little girls all under the age of 8 at the table next to me where they were jumping in the booth, constantly running right next to my booth, and leaning over crawling into mine. Not the adult outing I was looking forward to. I don’t blame the kids, I blame the adults not wanting to be parents.
Overall the food is good. The ambiance could be slightly better. While I do expect noise at a bar type establishment, the noise here made it impossible to listen to anything but the little girls in the booth next door that seemed to achieve a decibel rating beyond compare. I would have asked my server for a different table but I only saw her twice, once when we ordered and when we paid the bill.
Not my first time at city works probably won’t be my last. But won’t be back for a while.
Horrible service. Thought they were just lost when they first opened, but it has seemed to stay the same after 9 months. Most horrible servers ever. Do not recommend, stay away!
This was our first time at City Works for dinner. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday. From the moment we walked in the door, the service was excellent. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The food was great and they have an AWESOME selection of beers. Will definitely go back.
Nice place and good service. Only thing I didn’t like was that it we went to watch the World Series and you could not hear it. Other than that I recommend it, fried pickles really good!
