Coda Di Volpe is an Italian restaurant in Lakeview serving wood-fired pizzas.
Great dinner with a friend. We went on a Tuesday evening and were able to be seated quickly. We requested and were seated outside on the sidewalk patio. It was perfect. The Chef's Selection of cheeses, veggies and salami was perfect for two. And followed by the pizza, we had plenty left over for the next day. Great wine selection and overall service.
Not too loud. Comfortable seating, classy and contemporary decor with optional outdoor seating. I am usually afraid of going to Italian restaurants in Chicago since they stuff it with cheese but the food here is tasty with just the right amount of everything. Restrooms are downstairs but they also have handicap toilet at restaurant level for us folks. Thank you for being ADA compliant. Yes we do like to go eat out too.
The food and service is great as usual. I had a business dinner here and it was a great setting.
Great environment (inside or outside); delicious food, good wine list and consistently good service. Billy Lawless knows how to run a great restaurant.
Great vibe and great food, would highly recommend!
Third time going and the pizzas and pastas were great. Our waitress was super nice and we got a great wine recommendation from the wine manager. Will of course come back.
Very nice evening....manager came by and checked in on table
Just fabulous, sat and ate food and had some wonderful wines!!!
Great spot- never disappoints ! Delicious food and wonderful service and ambience!
Incredible food and kind staff. The pesto pizza was out of this world. Cant wait to be back!
I just recently found this gem. There is so much I love. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The bar is actually quite comfortable to eat your meal at as well. this is a lively place . I have enjoyed the cheese platter as well as the magherita pizza. Both are delightful!
Everything about our experience was wonderful. We sat at the bar and ordered cocktails a salad and a pizza. It was great from start to finish. We will be back (likely next weekend...)
Terrific first visit. Tasty cocktails (Stolen Vespa in particular), food was outstanding (smoked baby carrots, crispy skin branzino with fennel, raisins, pine nuts), Berkshire pork (with pickled cippolini onions, hazelnuts, fig mostarda, purple mustard greens). Sommelier guided us well in the wines (Gudarra Aglianico del Vulture 2014). Friendly and competent service.
THis is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always delicious and beautifully presented, the cocktails are wonderful, and above all, the service is exemplary. On the many occasions we have dined here, we have NEVER had a less than wonderful experience. The staff goes above and beyond and the food is fresh, seasoned perfectly, and that cut above most of the other (very good) restaurants in the neighborhood.
A group of six girlfriends and I had dinner here on a Sunday evening to celebrate a friend's 30th birthday. We chose to celebrate here due to good reviews, cute neighborhood, and the stylish interior, which we knew she would love - and she did. We each got two drinks and enjoyed both the cocktails and the wine. The food was delicious, and we did not note small portions like other reviewers - in fact, several of us had leftovers. Our server was lovely and just the perfect amount of attentive. And she brought the birthday girl three scoops of their delicious gelato as a birthday treat - so sweet! Thanks for a great evening!
We absolutely loved everything about Coda di Volpe. The food, service and ambiance was above and beyond our expectations.
Can’t wait to go back !
Dined here many times always great food and great service
The service here is spectacular. Everyone pitches in. The food is great. The cocktails seem a bit watered down, but that could just be me.
Everything was perfect. Our server was knowledgeable, they had birra moretti which I hadn't seen anywhere but in London.
Amazing food, we had to wait like 20 min for the table (and I had a reservation) but other than that all good.
First time at the restaurant, but not the last! Despite being 15 minutes late on a bust Friday night, they had our table ready. Food was unexpectedly exquisite. Pizza was as good as any in town, including several choices without tomatoes. Ours had real Italian mortadella, pistachio pesto, mozzarella di bufala, fresh basil and caciocavallo. There were little bits of pistachio for a crunchy surprise. Was even better reheated! We had the salumi platter with a great selection of in-house meats. We split a modern interpretation of a Ceasar Salad. The chef used Little Gem lettuce, which, to my mind, is a much better choice for this salad and the trite & trendy kale Caesar. The biggest surprise of the meal was cured egg yolk in lieu of raw egg in the dressing. This had the effect of lightening the salad without losing any flavor. My wife also had the tuna which made us both want to go home a try to duplicate some of the recipes. Not only is this food that you want to eat, it causes you to think about the food and the novel combinations of ingredients.
Only issue for us was the parking, which was non-existent. That will apparently be rectified with valet parking soon. If you love unpretentious, authentic Italian food with some modern twists on well known dishes, you will enjoy Coda di Volpi.
Phenomenal as always. A gem in the Southport Corridor
Great service and meal had all the little details that made it totally worthwhile.
Would highly recommend.
Consistently excellent . The food is superb as is the service . We have lived in Chicago for 7 months and dine out every Friday and Saturday night . His remains one of our top 5 . We have recommended it to many others
Everything was great and our server was great. The only unappealing thing was the manager continuously coming over and wordlessly placing the bill in front us a few times when we weren't done yet and were still ordering drinks.
Service is very good. Food is good, and could be very good. Be cautious of the Calabrian chiles they like to use. Even when they say it is mild -- it can get spicy. There are some dishes that don't benefit from the additional heat and they will use the chiles anyway (Had a great veal dish which was spoiled by too much heat). So, question your server and see if they will skip it.
Food was AMAZING! Took a little while to get drinks and was difficult to hear each talk until the dinner rush slowed down. Overall had a wonderful experience, good service (after the drinks) and yummy, creative options. I will definitely be returning!
We ordered two pasta dishes, a salad, and an appetizer and everything was great. The server’s recommendations were spot on. We also were in a hurry, and while they were not pushing us out they were accommodating to our timing.
Our waiter was outstanding and very attentive to our timing. The food was interesting, seasonal and delicious. It’s a little nicer than an any night go to place but it’s neighborhood gem.
Nice neighborhood restaurant with great decor and good food. Very loud and difficult to have a conversation if with friends directly next to you.
It looked like a great bar area which opens up to the walk during the warmer days.
IT was a beautiful evening and I would have loved to sit outside but the additional wait time made that not possible. Lovely inside, delicious food and wine. We will be back!
One of our favorite restaurants in the city. The ambience is great, and the service remarkable! The food is excellent as well! My husband loves the pork chop, and I tend to go for the chicken or a margherita pizza, both solid choices.
Enjoyed the drinks, appetizers, salad. Was a bit disappointed on the dinner, but will definitely go back to try another dinner. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff.
I think Coda di Volpe's true strength is pizza and pasta. So - their brunch is not my favorite. I'll save it for dinner. Because the pizza and pasta are truly well-made and delicious. But they do have a great sidewalk on a quiet street and soon it will be shaded by trees.
The food was fantastic!
Went in with a idea of what I wanted, not on the menu. The service person customized the pasta and I had a fabulous dinner!! Also Billy Lawless stop and chatted with us!!
Everything we ordered, albeit it was a limited menu (due to the time we came was our only availability) was surprising delicious and unique. My three different cocktails were tasty accompaniments. Our server Dustin was the best server. He was welcoming and informative.
All I got to say is really good atmosphere. Food was hands down delicious. Serves is top line very attentive. I will be coming here for a longtime. Everyone need to try this place.
