Outstanding experience at Commis Bar. Food was delicious, interesting, and beautiful. Service was attentive and friendly. Beverage pairing was outstanding. Highly recommend.

Some dishes were great, but 2/3 were hard to finish because they weren't tasty. Chicken was tasteless, and one dish was to sour.

Best tasting menu in the East Bay. Each dish was so well balanced and layered. Service was top notch. Loved the entire meal and experience.

The dishes were exceptional as usual but we were surprised by the changes made to the bar option, way more expensive than it used to be, and with too many courses. We almost could not finish the dinner… I would suggest to go back to a similar version to what it used to be, (more affordable and less courses) or something intermediate if that is not feasible. Please please please we used to like Commis so much! TV

Food is delightful. Excellent wine pairings, explained well. The servers seemed to enjoy answering questions about the cooking and preparation. Thoughtful food with stupendously good bread and every amuse bouche was a highlight. Possible to get reservations too on a reasonable time scale, which is not to be taken for granted. At the bar, there is an unavoidable amount of noise from making drinks. It does add up to an expensive meal, but one whose quality is hard to match.

We sat at the bar and had thought we’d be experiencing the four course bar menu. Instead we had the 10 course meal. The evening of our reservation was the first day they launched the 10 course menu at the bar. In short, it’s too much for sitting at the bar - both in time (took nearly four hours!) and money. Service was great. The duck was chewy, the trout tough, the wine pairing hit and miss. I would not recommend the 10 course at the bar. Please bring back the 4 course!

My favorite restaurant. Everything is wonderful and we have never had a bad dish here. Food is fantastic, service is wonderful and the restaurant is beautifully restrained. Just sad that they will be discontinuing the four course bar menu as the ten course menu is too much food at one sitting for us.
