We arrived and were misunderstood by the rudest house reception staff I have ever encountered. We asked to sit outside which came as a surprise to this person who promised to clean our table. 15 min later and after a reminder because we had not even had water offered we left and had a joyous meal in the restaurant adjoining. I love French food so my disappointment was even greater.

Restaurant tight & very noisy as low ceiling. We changed table to one in waiting area by the bar as we were far too uncomfortable. If we couldn’t change tables away from low ceiling main restaurant we would have gone elsewhere.

my partner had to send his food back because it was cold. We got it back within a few minutes which makes me think they just put it in the microwave. We had no recompense for that, it was not mentioned again. The waiter was wonderful. The male toilets absolutely stank my partner said they absolutely stank of ammonia and quite clearly have not been cleaned. Overall for Kensington this was really disappointing.

The service was very slow considered it was not a terribly Saturday night. I had very good experience in cote in Clapham junction but unfortunately the Kensington branch is not as good. Food was delivered one hour after making the order and the bread we ordered was stone hard - probably out of oven for a very long time. A bit of a let down

FAQs

Yes, Côte Brasserie in Kensington is a popular choice for date night. Guests often praise the warm, softly lit brasserie atmosphere, attentive service and well‑presented French dishes (ideal for sharing). Note that weekends and pre‑show evenings can be lively and a bit noisy, so for a quieter experience pick a midweek or early evening booking and request a cosy table when you reserve.

Portions are generally sensible and geared towards classic brasserie dining, filling but not oversized. Many guests report good value, especially on the set menu, though a number of recent comments mention slightly smaller portions than in previous visits. If you’re particularly hungry, consider ordering a starter or a side (frites or creamed spinach) to round the meal.

Yes, families dine here regularly and guests report the team is accommodating to children, with a kid’s menu and friendly service. The restaurant also offers outside seating and cosy alcove tables. For specific accessible seating needs (step‑free access or mobility aids), call ahead so staff can confirm suitable arrangements.

For a more relaxed experience, visit midweek or for an early evening booking; lunch and weekday evenings tend to be calmer. If you’re planning pre-show dining before the Royal Albert Hall, allow extra time, guests like its convenient location for concerts but note evenings (especially Fri–Sat and show nights) can be very busy.

Warm, convivial and classically French, guests often describe a friendly, professional team, pleasant décor and a relaxed brasserie vibe. Expect a bustling dining room on busy nights (which some guests find lively and others find noisy). Service is frequently praised for being welcoming and attentive.

Smart casual, Côte recommends smart casual attire in line with its relaxed‑upmarket brasserie style. Guests typically dress neatly without formal wear required.

Yes, Côte Kensington welcomes families. Guests often bring children for celebrations and meals; the kid’s menu gets positive mentions and staff are described as accommodating to families and tired children. For very young children, an earlier seating or a quieter time is recommended.

Busiest: Friday and Saturday evenings and pre‑show nights (close to Royal Albert Hall), guests report crowds and occasional service delays. Quietest: midweek daytime or early evenings tend to be calmer. If you prefer a relaxed meal, aim for weekday lunch or earlier dinner slots.

Midweek days (Tuesday–Thursday) are often best for a more relaxed experience, good service, less bustle and easier seating. If you want a livelier atmosphere, Friday or Saturday evenings are busiest but be prepared for a bustling brasserie vibe and possible waits.

Yes, the restaurant allows private parties and has hosted large groups (guests reported a 60+ party). For private dining options, capacity and menus, contact the restaurant directly to arrange space and tailored menus.

Partially, there’s evidence the restaurant operates on at least some busy holiday evenings (guests reported dining on New Year’s Eve). Public‑holiday opening can vary, so it’s best to check directly with the restaurant or their website for specific bank holiday hours and special events.

Yes, the owner description and guests confirm inviting outside seating, which is pleasant for breakfast, lunch or al fresco pre‑show dining in Kensington. If you prefer an outside table, request it when booking as outdoor spots can be popular.
