I’d been excited to try Coya Peruvian Secret because it always seems busy, with lots of outdoor seating and a lively atmosphere. The live music was a nice touch and played at a tasteful volume, making it a pleasant setting for dinner with a business contact. Unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming. Service was noticeably slow from the beginning. It took a while to get our drink order, and when we ordered a carafe of sangria, we received two individual glasses instead. By the time the server returned, we ordered appetizers and dinner together because we weren’t sure when we’d see him again. He essentially functioned as an order taker. There were no recommendations, no explanation of the menu, and no mention of the specials I later noticed posted on a board. The food didn’t rescue the experience. The lomo saltado was passable but unremarkable, especially for the price. We kept ordering additional items, including desserts, hoping to find something memorable. We never really did. The final eyebrow-raiser was the payment screen, which offered tip options of 20%, 22%, and 25%. I normally tip at least 20% anyway due to easier math, but after below-average service and an underwhelming meal, those default choices just reinforced how “meh” the entire experience had been. The atmosphere and live music were pleasant, but the sangria, food, desserts, and especially the service fell short. The best part of the evening was the conversation with my dinner companion, not the restaurant.

My vote is only based on the fact that, notwistanding our reservation, when we arrived we were asked to come back after half an hour since the kitchen had some problems… We ended up going to a different restaurant

Had to try Peruvian from the west coast but its good for what it is but its not the traditional Peruvian from the east coast. If you know, you know. Food is tasty, the lomo saltado was great and the sangria. Giving it overall 5 star because staff was friendly, service was great and the food, again, for being in the west coast was some of the better Peruvian.

The food was amazing. The ceviche flavors were unique and delicate. This was my 2nd time. We sat on the patio in the back which I never knew was there. It looks like a courtyard in Tuscany. Very cool compared to tables in front.

It’s a very small restaurant. We tried the dishes recommended by our service. The drinks were very good. The steak dish was very tuff meat and chewy. The fish dishes were very fishery. The empanadas were good. The chicken dish was good. The courses were very slow coming out and the service was very slow.
