Good food clean surroundings but 1 rather than 2 chefs were available so we expected minor delays but were not warned that we would have to wait more than 30 mins to be seated and were not allowed to order until45 mins .Our food arrived 1 hour 15 minutes after our booking time. If we had been told that there were severe delays we might have chosen an alternative nearby restaurant

To be clear, this rating is for their booking service, not the restaurant itself, as we never ate there. We booked using Open Table over 6 weeks prior to our visit, knowing there are almost no dining options in Lochinever. Open Table let us book on a Thursday, and we received a confirmation 6 weeks ago, and then a reminder 48 hours before our visit, so we were definitely in their system. Then, less than 24 hours before the time of our dinner, they reached out to say they were closed on Thursdays, and our reservation was cancelled. We begged for assistance, but due to the delays in email, they gave us other dining recommendations almost 25 miles away, at 9:30pm AFTER the night of our arranged dinner. We went hungry our one night in Lochinever. Woe is me, but really, you don't expect to have no food at all one night while on vacation. Shame on Delilah's for not monitoring their reservation system with more care.

Seemed a bit short staffed and the menus available were significantly more limited for vegetarian options than on the website as it wasn't high season but this isn't advertised.

We visited Delilah’s in Lochinver as a group of four last Saturday and had a genuinely great experience. The food was spot on across the board, service was relaxed but attentive, and the cocktails were easily some of the best we’ve had in a long time. They didn’t have Bollinger on the night, which would usually be a bit of a let-down, but the team handled it really well and sorted us out with Laurent-Perrier instead, which more than did the job. It’s clearly a popular place, so booking ahead is a must. We were staying at the campsite at Clachtoll and got a taxi there and back, which was simple enough and definitely worth it, again book ahead as it really is a remote place. First time visiting this part of the country and Delilah’s was a highlight. We’ll be back later in the year without hesitation and already looking forward to it!

As always, we had a lovely evening out. Delilah’s menu is fantastic, something for everyone even if you have intolerances like myself. Rachel, Sam, Mary and all the other staff make you feel so welcome.

FAQs

Yes, Delilah’s is a popular choice for a date night. Guests often praise the upstairs dining room for being quieter and offering lovely harbour views, while the lively downstairs bar creates a buzzy evening vibe if you prefer atmosphere. The food is described as imaginative and beautifully presented (excellent seafood and cocktails), and many guests highlight warm, attentive service. Book a window table or an earlier sitting to secure a romantic spot.

Portions are generally generous. Several guests say dishes are plentiful, some even found portions large enough to skip dessert, and the restaurant offers both small/tapas-style plates and larger mains so you can mix and match. A few guests noted small plates can be priced like mains, so consider ordering a couple of small plates per person or asking staff for portion guidance when you book.

Family-friendly seating: yes. Guests regularly bring families, celebrate birthdays and note a children’s menu and a kids’ corner with books and crafts. Accessibility details aren’t specified in available information, so if you have specific mobility needs it’s best to call ahead, staff are described as welcoming and used to accommodating requests.

Aim for midweek or an earlier evening for a quieter experience; weekends and peak summer weeks are busiest. If you want scenic, calm dining, request an upstairs window table (guests call it quieter and romantic). For the lively local atmosphere, evenings at the bar downstairs are buzzy. Whatever you choose, book ahead, many guests note the restaurant fills up fast.

Warm, energetic and welcoming, Delilah’s balances a lively, sociable bar downstairs with a relaxed, scenic upstairs dining room. Guests describe a bright, vibrant vibe, friendly staff, and a mix of locals and tourists. It can get noisy at peak times, but many visitors love the relaxed, family-friendly feel and the team’s enthusiastic service.

Casual dress. Guests commonly dine in relaxed attire and the restaurant markets itself as casual dining, so comfortable, smart-casual clothing is appropriate for both lunch and dinner.

Yes, staff regularly accommodate dietary needs and allergies and guests report the team is helpful and flexible. Because the restaurant can be busy and menus sometimes change by season, call ahead to confirm specials, seating requests (window seat or upstairs) or allergy requirements so the kitchen can prepare.

Yes, many families dine here and guests note a children’s menu and a dedicated corner with books and crafts to keep little ones occupied. The upstairs room can be quieter if you prefer a more peaceful family meal, while the downstairs area is livelier. As always, book ahead for family tables during busy times.

Busiest: weekend evenings and peak summer weeks (guests report the restaurant fills up, especially during high season and events like Highland Games). Quietest: weekday lunches or off-season/shoulder months and early evening sittings; upstairs seating is often calmer than the bustling downstairs bar. Booking ahead will help you avoid busy periods.

Midweek (Monday–Wednesday) is often best for a quieter, more relaxed dining experience; if you want the livelier bar vibe, plan for a weekend evening. Because the restaurant gets very busy at weekends and during peak season, any midweek visit or early evening reservation will usually be calmer and easier to book.

Delilah’s is presented as a family-run local business; guests frequently name and praise the owners and hosts Rachael and Sam for their warm hospitality and hands-on running of the restaurant. For formal ownership details, contact the restaurant directly.

They have opened for special occasions in the past (guests mention Valentine’s Day service), but opening on public holidays can vary. Because hours and special openings may change seasonally, call ahead or check the restaurant’s booking options to confirm availability on a specific public holiday.

Dogs are widely welcomed, the restaurant is described as dog-friendly and guests frequently brought dogs (including mention of the owners’ dog). For service dogs, rules can differ by location and legal requirements, and emotional support animals are handled case-by-case; call ahead to confirm any specific needs so staff can make arrangements.

Yes, many guests report a dog-friendly policy, even noting interactions with the owners’ dog and other visiting pets. Visitors say staff are welcoming to dogs, but if you’re planning to bring a pet it’s a good idea to mention this when you book.

Yes, guests report being able to sit outside when the weather allows and enjoying views over the bay. Outdoor seating may be limited and weather-dependent, so request outdoor seating when you book if that’s important to you.
