What Insiders Are Saying
Duck Duck Goat is a high-end Chinese restaurants that's always fun with excellent and interesting food.
Jerome was great. We love it here.
Fantastic waiter and excellent food. Order a bunch for sharing is the concept. Delicious
The staff and management at Duck Duck Goat is unsurpassed! You feel welcome the moment you walk in the door. My brother proposed to his girlfriend here and they went above and beyond so much, that I had to check it out myself. I was not disappointed! The food was incredible, but the service is world class and beyond! The management, hosts, bartenders, servers, and chefs make an ordinary day extraordinary!
Excellent service by Jocelyn.very knowledgeable and friendly.food was excellent.everything executed perfectly
DDG clearly has the brand cache of its celebrity chef going for it and the ambiance / decor of the restaurant is great. Service was also very good. However as a foodie who focuses on the food, there's not much to write home about.
The food at DDG is a modern twist on traditional Chinese dishes, but the food is not as good as places like Lao Sze Chuan or the like. In fact, my dining mate and I noted the dishes were often undercooked (Sichuan Eggplant), too salty (Xi'an Goat Slap Noodles), or too tangy (the Shrimp special they had that day). We also got the Chongquing Chicken which was decent, but simply none of the dishes amazed us and they come at prices 1.5x or more than what you would find in Chinatown.
If you want a posh Chinese meal and don't want to leave West Loop, go here. If you want the best tasting food and without needing to hurt your wallet, go elsewhere.
Always an outstanding experience!
Had a delicious celebratory anniversary dinner with our family. All of the food was creative and delicious. We particularly loved the Moo Shu Pork and the Marrow Dumplings. Plus, we were super happy to find awesome mocktails on the drink menu!
The server was great, she was aware of the dietary restrictions and made recommendations based on those needs. The food was absolutely delicious.
We didn’t love the experience. It is different but still Chinese food, a bit heavy and cooked in lots of oil. We walked away stuffed. The food comes out when ready and so it is a bit disjointed. The ambiance is just OK. Nothing special. This was not our favorite restaurant. High prices. We won’t go back.
I wanted to experience all 3 "Goat" restaurants while in Chicago for a few weeks, and this one was by far my favorite. Less pretentious than "Girl and the Goat" and for my taste, a better balance of flavors and textures. The service also was the perfect combination of helpful, knowledgable and friendly. The Coconut Cocktail (not the correct name) was worth going for, alone. Also really loved the chargrilled beef and broccoli. Highly Recommended.
The drinks and food were all really good. The flavor combinations of foods I’ve never tried before had me grinning with every bite. It was packed when we arrived and I understand why after our first time experience. The restaurant was beautiful, wait staff were all very nice and welcoming. I’m recommending it to any friends and family that take a trip to Chicago.
Everything was perfect! We had such a nice time. Brought my 5 month old and they have high chairs and slings available for your carseat. :) Food was amazing. Service spectacular! We will go back for sure!
Service was excellent; prompt and kind. Food was just ok and definitely not great or worth the cost.
Fantastic food. Great service. Great drinks. Waiter knew the menu and made great recommendations. Lots of fun, and not rushed.
Food and service were both excellent. The portions were small for the price, but I will definitely go back because it was so tasty.
Loved everything about our dinner at Duck Duck Goat. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and personable—he advised us on what were not-to-be-missed dishes. I could have made a meal just out of the green beans with black bean sauce with some rice—they were outstandingly fresh and cooked to crisp perfection. Delightful scallion pancake with crisp coleslaw was a great starter, along with a fine selection of drinks. Our entrees were both delicious—sichuan eggplant, and short rib beef with homemade noodles. Our waiter brought us a complimentary scoop of ice cream with blackberry sorbet, which was a perfect ending grace note. Well done DDG!
Outstanding. Everything about the food, service, and ambiance was amazing. Best Chinese food and cocktails I’ve ever had.
Amazing! Great vegetarian options!
Delicious food with deep flavors. Cocktails were also very tasty. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Seated quickly and though busy, did not seem hectic. Reasonable pricing for quality of food.
Great service. The soup was outstanding.
There 4 of us at dinner and we each ordered 2 items to share. Everything was fresh and tasty. We made a couple special requests that were met perfectly. Sat outside and the seating was very comfortable. Be sure to walk around inside though, the decor is amazing!
Amazing food, friendly staff, unique experience! It was our anniversary and they surprised us with bubbly in the house.
Amazing food and great service! Loved the slap beef noodles and bone marrow potstickers. Also great drink selection for brunch
Superb as always. Got there early, so got pot stickers at Baobing while waiting for others to arrive. Save room for the mango dessert!
Great food every time!
Food and service was amazing!! Everyone was so considerate of my sons food allergies!
I had heard very good things about DDG's food from others and reading online reviews. We had high hopes for a creative, fresh, and well prepared meal, but were disappointed in the food. The Seafood fried rice was mushy, highly salted, and had lots of rice but little seafood. The filling in the Veggie Spring Roll had a mushy texture and generic flavor. The tofu dish was highly salted and uninteresting; the soft tofu seemed to have come from the tub with little treatment. All of the food was mushy and tasted the same after awhile, maybe because it was all so highly salted no other flavor came though?
Each dish was better than the last. We ordered Peking Duck a few days before our reservation date. The duck and the condiments that came with it were wonderful. Our group of 5 also had the Xiao Long Bao, green beans, pekan cauliflower (the best cauliflower on the planet), beef slap noodles and chicken chao fun. Everything was something we would order again.
Katie our server made our dining experience, incredible. Her knowledge of the menu and personality were tremendous!
Food was incredible. My favorite was the goat chow fun, the best ever. Dumplings were amazing also. I did think the famed green bean dish is over-rated. It was too salty. Everything else was incredible
Cauliflower pekan is basically dessert, nothing sour about it. Very bad.
Very good food. Very good service. While this was a business dinner, I cannot wait to take my family and friends.
The food was absolutely terrible. The Peking Duck was shockingly bad. The wraps were amateur hour. It was de-elevated American Chinese food.
Everything about Duck Duck Goat lives up to Stephanie Izard's reputation. We had an amazing meal - from the delicious non-alcoholic drinks to the out-of-this-world goat belly lo mein. Oh and the short rib potstickers were so rich and tasty - a definite can't miss. And they helped us celebrate our anniversary with a glass of bubbly! Such a nice little extra touch of customer service.
Amazing food. Totally great experience.
Very personalized! Received a text regarding our upcoming reservation and was able to explain dietary preferences. I received a celiac friendly menu upon arrival as well as a round of complimentary Proseco for my friend’s bday and delicious ice cream! To top it off the food was AMAZING!
We tried the tasting menu for lunch. It was great value and delicious food. Service was great and we loved the ambiance! Would def recommend and if we are in Chicago again we would def go back.
Most incredible Asian cuisine I’ve ever had! The ambiance of the restaurant was rad too.
Food and service was outstanding, much better than I anticipated. Giving them 4 stars as they weren't able to seat us until 30 minutes after our reservation. They were apologetic and offered us a glass of sparkling wine, but there wasn't a place to sit at the bar so 30 minutes was a lot to stand around for.
excellent food, service and atmosphere
