We arrived at our designated reservation time but found no one at the hostess stand to seat us, ask our name or anything. I finally went to the kitchen staff and asked if there was anyone to help us. Our waitress was doing her best to help us but she was working the entire downstairs area by herself. Our service to take our order was extremely slow but our food was wonderful.
The food was delicious! You get large portions, a real value for the money. We seated upstairs outside. It’s a great view. The staff are friendly and efficient.
Enjoyed our Christmas Day visit. Erica ( waitress) was awesome.
It was my birthday.
Since it close to closing time... the crew decide they should start sweeping under the tables... had to ask them to do it later since it was loud with the “banging” and a little off putting right behind us. This should not be happening when your eating at any establishment! Not a good experience, but will return on out next visit to Galveston and try again. Thank you
Delicious as always.
We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and were shocked when we were informed that they were closing. I was upset and told them we just arrived from out of town, were meeting friends and had a reservation. They checked their book and said they would take care of us. After that, everything was great. The food was delicious and service was excellent.
When we checked in with the hostess we told her we had a reservation and it was through Open Table. She said ok. Turns out she didn't check us in and we received an email from Open Table that we did not show up for our reservation. Not good. So had to send our receipt information into Open Table to let them know that we did in fact show up for our reservation and were actually early.
We decided to splurge on dinner and have a date night. My boyfriend ordered a baked potato with his fish, the potato was still hard and not hot. The butter wasn’t even melting on it. His fish was dry and over cooked. My tuna steak was rare. When we asked for a new potato we were brought another hard potato that had cheese on it. He is allergic to cheese and was told about his food allergy in the beginning. I remember going to fishtales and always loved it. We were very disappointed in dinner, especially with how much we paid.
Food was VERY long time before it arrived and was only semi warm at delivery. This was after a 15 min wait at the table for someone to acknowledge us.
They were out of several items on the menu telling me they have boxed food. They allow dogs on the upper deck which I had to listen to a barking dog on occasion. Food took over an hr to get and it wasn’t that busy. Used to love this place, but time to move on
Can’t beat the location and the view. The service by Ivory our server was excellent with great personality. The food was not quite as good as Captain D’s. And overpriced.
Slow service, solid food but not great. Can’t beat the views from the outside deck seating though!
Fish Tales lived up to the hype! We made a reservation, table was ready and we enjoyed the outside dining, weather was perfect, the food was what we expected, delicious. The waiter was very knowledgeable and efficient. The only negative was there was a car playing loud music that went around the block a few times. Very annoying!
We drove from Houston for a day trip and decided on Fish Tales so that we could eat outside with a view. We ordered the peel and eat shrimp for an appetizer, and the shrimp were very small in a bowl of water (the ice obviously melted long before the dish made it to our table). The other dishes were okay, but nothing special or memorable.
The service was pitiful. After our drinks and appetizer were served, we didn’t see our waiter again. We had to flag him down to order our entrees and another round of drinks. After about 15 minutes, we flagged him down again to follow up on our drinks. He told us the white wine wasn’t cold so they were trying to chill it. I asked to change wines, but it didn’t show up until after I was done eating the entree.
First time visitor to Fish Tales. Super location. Great food. Will definitely return.
The waiter was not very friendly and the food was not that great and the some of the food was cold
great menu and great food-something for everyone's taste-good prices and excellent service
The blackened shrimp and mai tai were excellent. Don’t feed the bird while dining outside.
Food was over cooked (fried) and meals were given to wrong person
Great seafood. We had a great server showed us a lot of attention. We really enjoyed our dinner there.
Spending the weekend in Galveston and decided to try something different. So glad we did. The food was delicious. I had the steak and shrimp and my husband had the catfish. Even though I had to send my steak back (I like it well done) it came back perfect.
Our waiter was Ivory. He was absolutely amazing! I hope his management and leaders take notice, because he is a keeper! We are in the area for an extended visit, if we go back we will be requesting him again!
1. Service was v slow - Drinks came fast but took 40 mins and a follow up with a different server to get our appetizer.
2. It was 45 mins after we were seated when we could give lunch order.
Food was excellent.
Our appetizers got to us before our drinks but we couldn’t eat them because we had to wait for the waiter to bring our drinks before we could ask for silverware. Food was cold by the time we got silverware. Very disappointing.
My sister suggested Fish Tales to us. My husband and I were skeptical about trying it due to the reviews we were reading but ended up giving it a try on 10/18/20. We drove up in a parking lot where we had to get a ticket to park but the restaurant validates your parking ticket so you do not end up paying for parking. The service was great from walking in the door to the end of the evening. We had a 6:30 pm reservation on Sunday evening. The host took us upstairs where we waited about 2 minutes for our table to be ready. They seated us outdoors which had a nice view of the beach. Jason was our waiter who was amazing. He took our drink order which we received within a few minutes of ordering. He answered all of our menu questions and took our order. Jason checked in on us just enough during dinner but not too much. The food was delish and cooked perfectly! I had coconut shrimp and my husband had the blackened catfish. The rice and mixed vegetables were wonderful as well. The portion sizes were more than we could eat so we took some home. We were so glad we gave this restaurant a try. We will definitely go back next time we are in Galveston.
The service was good. The food was freshly cooked and served hot
Server was very responsive. The food we received was delicious.
We went last year. Food was great. This year took friends there and it was not good. Food was luke warm and oysters and fish tasted bland. Not much taste and drinks way overpriced
We were very pleased with the outdoor dining patio arrangement. Seating was socially distant and the servers and staff wore masks. People waiting for tables were also wearing masks.
The service was very good and the food was amazing
We love this place, but found out that sitting outside on a busy Saturday night was not the best experience. Too much road / traffic noise. Very very loud. The food was excellent. I’d like to have the recipe for the Cajun sauce. We will definitely be back a a quieter time.
Entrées came out before appetizer, so I would recommend not ordering entrées until after you get you appetizers.
The service was fine and the restaurant looks as it did the last time we visited; however, the server looked as if he had to many tables, not his fault, and the food was subpar for the price. My wife and I used to go quite often when we lived in Houston, and we were looking forward to going back. It was just such a disappointment to see that the food quality has gone down so badly. We will not be returning. 🙁
Really good food and a great location right across from Pleasure Pier. Nice and friendly staff and validated parking
