Best restaurant in the city, drinks, food, hospitality, can't say enough
Excellent restaurant. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable regarding the food preparations. Food was innovative, unique, extremely well prepared. We like to try new things so there is always a new restaurant to taste. FSS will be revisited, recommended and reflected upon. Just that good.
Great food and server!
The food was not only delicious but an art form. Loved it!
Every detail was perfect. Our server, Andrew, was professional, knowledgeable and clearly dedicated to making our experience a wonderful one. The food was delicious, and all four of us agreed, having partaken of much of the menu! Three days later I am still thinking about Friday, Saturday, Sunday and hope to return soon.
This restaurant is everything its cracked to be; fabulous meal from start to finish and top notch servers.
Dined there this past week to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday. We ordered something from each section of the menu and it was the perfect amount of food. Everything was delicious, including the craft cocktails. I highly recommend.
The Good: Everything was pleasant, table was ready on time, food was well prepared along with presentation, service was professional and very nice quaint environment.
The Could be better: Food delivery time, they move food out quickly. You may want to specify if you are in a rush or looking to take your time and enjoy your meal and conversation. Servers are well trained in their choice of words which was impressive, but can feel like you are buying a car. Menu could use a little more description on the items.
Overall, very good place and will go again and again. and like some of the harder to get into restaurants in Center City, they have a lively bar you can sit at and enjoy the same meal.
We had a wonderful night and delicious meal at Friday Saturday Sunday. The waitstaff was excellent. Tim was our server and was attentive, well-informed and knew exactly what to recommend in terms of quantity for the two of us. We shared the mussel toast, roasted potato gnocchi, octopus for appetizers. We had the dry aged duck for two which was fabulous. Our reservation was at 5:45 and there are only a couple of ducks served per night so if you want the duck, go early. We had the brownie for dessert - the crowd pleaser as Tim said. My wife wanted chocolate though if we were to have two desserts, we would have tried the panna cotta. Wine list was also excellent and per glass price was comparable to a bottle so that was a nice plus if you want to try different wines. The second floor dining is not overcrowded and very comfortable. We are looking forward to returning.
Everything was perfect except we couldn't get the seat we wanted. Food was wonderful.
I love the food at Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Every dish sparkles.
Our first time and we'll be back. As reflected in my star ratings, everything was outstanding!
Delicious! Got the beef tartare, octopus, and brussel sprouts for the appetizers and split it between three people. For the main course I got the lobster and it was so good! Of course we saved room for dessert - got the brownie per the waiter's recommendation and we enjoyed every bit of it.
I think they change their menu every so often so I'll be back to try out some more goodies!
Excellent food. Very knowledgeable though not the most attentive server. Seemed as if his section might have been a little large. However, his suggestions were mostly spot on and his menu knowledge was incredible.. Overall a great experience! Get the beans with octopus and menudo broth!!! Oh my!!
Celebrated my husband’s Birthday. One of our favorite places in the City! Great Bar, amazing food and service!
Nice menu, though limited. Sharing several things was a good idea since the portions were small.
Food was delicious and service was friendly......we enjoyed the evening.
My boyfriend and I had been wanting to hit this place up for awhile and we are so glad we finally did. Everything we ordered was exceptional and the service was outstanding. Our favorites were the mussel toast and the gnocchi which were both to die for. It is the perfect place for an intimate celebration or special evening out and we will most definitely be returning soon!
Always a pleasure. Went with a group of friends, and had a blast. Lobster dish was scarce, for the price, but all other portions were perfect. Can't wait to return.
This is nothing like the old Fri, Sat, Sun. There is nothing wrong with that, but I am surprised they kept the name. I guess it was for marketing. Anyway, we figured we would try the new place due to the high praise on OpenTable. We were a bit disappointed.
Here are the pros and cons:
Wine List - Decent, but 3x the list price like most CC establishments. 2x is plenty and less greedy.
Format: Small Plates, except for Entrees
Appetizer - Shrimp Cocktail in a mustard sauce - Good
Veggies - Brussel Sprouts and Carrots. Good flavor, but not hot.
Gnocchi - Cooked well, but hardly any flavor.
Agnolotti w/Oxtail - Tasty, but not hot.
NY Strip - Cooked perfectly, decent sauce. Not hot.
Seabass - Cooked well, but plain.
Overall - For over $300 (including $100 in drinks) I can find better. Average at best.
I think this place has potential, but serving cold food is not a great start. Also, serve more flavorful dishes.
I miss the old place. Simple, inexpensive, but great food. There is a reason it lasted 30 years.
Great spot for a nice dinner with a creative chef. It is our second visit since the new owners took over and both dinners were excellent. Good wine selection as well.
It was truly an outstanding and memorable meal
The burnt cream gnocchi was delicious! Ambiance was nice. Table by the window was romantic.
Excellent service and food. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. I would highly recommend the Morcilla Creste di Gallo pasta dish.
The chef is amazing! I’ve been here three times. I drive from nyc to eat here. The pairing of ingredients is one of the best I’ve had.
The service, wait staff, hostess are all amazing. Incredibly professional. Thanks for providing such a great food experience.
What a wonderful experience overall. The food and service was just stellar and the ambiance is old-world charming. This is definitely one of those special places that you want to revisit time and again. It was my first time dining there. I usually just have amazing drinks made by Paul- who is quite talented. Definitely make a reservation as the upstairs dining area isn’t big. This restaurant is easily my top five in Philadelphia.
Holiday dinner get together with best friends and the dinner, service and ambiance were divine.
I’ve been really looking forward to dining here and was not disappointed! Everything we ordered was amazing, including the beef tartare, octopus, and NY Strip. Our server suggested delicious wine to accompany our meal. Service was attentive, but not overly so. The meal was paced well and we did not feel rushed despite being an early reservation. I will definitely be returning!
First time. Overall great place and meal. Very tasty dishes for sharing. Arctic char amazing. Duck beautifully done. Some dishes overly complex. Interesting cocktails - perhaps to fussy for the purest. Small place. We ate early and had full access to menu. Got noisy later in the evening and a few items disappeared from menu ( duck). Definitely on our come back soon list.
This was our second time at FSS, and we were blown away again. I wanted to eat EVERYTHING that passed our table. We ordered octopus, the chicken liver, two pastas and a vegetable. I'm obsessed with their pasta and would order every pasta on the menu if I could. Everything we ordered was delicious. Our server too was top notch (though, I don't know if he told us his name). Super engaged and attentive and professional and friendly all in one... just the way you'd want a server to be. Highly recommended.
Wonderful dining, gorgeous food in a warm setting. Excellent service.
Although bottom line can quickly add up, the saying "you get what you pay for" definitely rings true at FSS. I was in a group of four that ordered 3 small plates: Mussel Toast (I'd love that recipe!), Roasted Carrots (like no roasted carrots I've ever tasted) and Charred Cauliflower (touched all the right notes, just outstanding). The friends ordered the New York Strip Steak and Halibut and just raved. I ordered the Buccatini with Squid & Mussels enrobed in an onion confit. It was wonderful and I'd definitely HAVE to order it again. Only negative was noise level. It wasn't so loud as to prevent conversation, but I prefer less.
Tim was an amazing host. He guided us thru a fabulous meal. Everything was beautifully presented, well prepared and divine.
Our server was wonderful and the food was exceptional. We can’t wait to go back
The food was exceptional. The Muscle Toast and Endive Salad were delicious and a great way to start. When lobster is your least favorite item, you know the whole meal was great. Tim our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. We will be back soon
Best restaurant in South Jersey.
Had a lovely birthday dinner, great/knowledgeable server
Brought my girlfriend for our anniversary and enjoyed everything! Excellent service coupled with great drinks and an expertly paced meal. The elderly trio next to us probably needed to tone down the neediness and dish modifications but we ordered everything as is and couldn't have been happier!
Great food and service!
Outstanding, creative dinner for four. This place does not disappoint!
Service has really improved and is on point ! Will be back.
