Great experience. We had not been in the last year or so as we felt the food and service had slipped. This was back to what we remembered as one of our favorite spots.
One steak was overcooked and we were too close to the singer. They did lower the volume after a few minutes which made it better. WE Will RETURN TO THE FRIO GRILLE. We really enjoyed it.
Everything was delicious!
Great time, got to watch some of the Astros, very family atmosphere
I loved this place. It has a great family vibe and the food was amazing
Beautiful morning enjoying breakfast outdoors!
We actually got there and searched for a parking spot. Which wasn’t easy. BECAUSE THE PLACE WAS PACKED. Hasn’t this place heard of covid? I saw a waiter with a mask. And that was the only one! No one was wearing masks or social distancing. We had hoped for a separated outdoor space as we had reserved but this place was overflowing with people. Inside and outside. Children running around screaming. You’d think the pandemic had never happened.
So we just got back in the car and drive away from that hotspot of ill judgement. The management should be held accountable for allowing this egregious display of irresponsibility.
We had a reservation and was seated promptly. Within the span of 20 mins two different people asked if we had been helped without helping us on drinks or taking our order. I am fairly patient but when I started to see others being seated after us and received more attention (Drinks/silverware). I was a little uncomfortable that we still didn’t have a server. The clientele and staff wasn’t very diverse which made it seem a oddly biased. After bring this to the attention of management he has very kind and responsive. We may give it one more shot at dine in before deciding to do takeout only.
Indoor/Outdoor dining available. Great menu options.
Note: Be sure you ask they confirm Open Table reservation at check-in, if points are important to you.
We went for the Houston food week, so we selected from a preset menu.
The bacon wrapped quail wings were delicious and the fried mac and cheese balls were tasty, albeit a little difficult to cut into, and set our expectations high. Unfortunately, the meal was not as impressive. I had the Texass bbq with grits and pea shoots , only there were no pea shoots. When I mentioned this to the server, he first commented that he was not sure if they were in it and then mentioned that the menu is often "tweaked" without the changes being noted or told to the server. The bbq sauce was overally sweet, the shrimp was cooked well. My husband had the Cactus Jack garner chip, which was " ok", as he said " there was nothing special, I could easily make this at home" . The chess pie was not very good, overally chewy and the crust was flavorless. The bread pudding was good, but again, not great.
If you are looking for casual dining with a great outdoor area, this works. The food is good, but nothing to writehome about.
We sat on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful weather! The food was amazing! The portion sizes were huge, so come with an empty stomach!
It was our first time but not the last. It was really good. Good variety of Bourbon. Ceviche and pork belly apps were delicious. Pork shank and grit, just fabulous. Really impressed. Bit pricey so be prepared to pay but some inexpensive options available.
Had brunch with my family. The atmosphere was great. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Everyone loved their brunch items and had a great meal. The only down side was the pecan sticky bun, it was dry and flavorless and seemed to be very old. I would not recommend that item nor will I ever order another one.
First visit of us. Food was quite good; enjoyed appetizers and meals. I had fried Mac place was quite busy given impact of Covid on business that we have experienced at other places. Many families w/kids in the outside area and a number of dogs as well. Not a place for a quite, intimate dinner but a great choice for a fun Saturday night.
The restaurant looks like a really fun place, but that's where the attraction ends. It took us forever to get our appetizer, which should have told us something. Our food came out before our apps, the waitress was standing there and had them take back the main courses. One app, the pork belly finally came out. It was NOT impressive. Kind of mushy pork, yet not tender, on grits. The shrimp app came out next, poor things looked like they'd been cooked completely dry but we never actually tried them because we weren't finished with pork when the main dishes were sent out AGAIN, and I say again, because I am certain it was the same plates that had been brought out 15 minutes before. Also, we had asked for french fries but got mashed. Waiter took the entres back again. About 2 mins later, brought the SAME dishes back out but with some cold fries on the side this time! Yea, cold congealed gravy on now soggy cool chicken fried steak. We never tried the shrimp. Was so looking forward to this being a great new spot. So very disappointed!
A great Hill Country Texas themed evening. Food was great as always and this time we walked across the parking lot to The Barn for outdoor drinks and live music after our meal.
The food was fantastic and our waitress gave us amazing service. She was very attentive and personable.
The guy singing was way to loud. We were in the separate room from him and were still having trouble hearing each other and our waiter. Otherwise great!
We had a great time. Yummy food and good service. Enjoyed the barn and live music after dinner too. Excellent place in these crazy times!
The service was slow but it was busy. Not a place for a business meeting. It’s real laid back.
Food was good. I ordered the onion rings which would have been better if crispier. The batter kind of fell off of them.
The staff was very friendly. The food was outstanding. We’ll be back for sure.
First time. Nice relaxing place with good food.
Our table ended up next to large birthday party, very loud, so they moved us no hassle.
We will be going back.
Very concerned about sanity issues
Great fun evening night out.
Great little spot. The kids loved the grassy patio area with the corn hole game. Great live music
Has such great potential to be a backyard Texas joint. The problem is the food:
- soggy onion ring batter
- over cooked burger patties
- dry snapper
If they could get 8 dishes on the menu that were good to great, this place would soar.
During the pandemic, dine-in capacity was capped at 50%. My only complaint was that We sat next to the patio door and the blast of warm humid air and the noise of the constant in/out was mildly annoying. The queso was the bomb, omg so delicious. Love the beer flights. The snapper was amazing as well.
Food was outstanding, service was absolutely horrible. Waitress was rude on several occasions and eventually stopped coming by our table to wait on us. I would return, but with caution on who is the server.
It took us 10 minutes to get a table with reservations Due to not finding menus. Then another 15 minutes to order because they had to print out menus, and we were headed to a graduation so we looked up menu online and let them know we were ready to order. After the menu confusion, we let our waiter know we were pressed for time due to attending a graduation, and he made sure we had our food quickly so we wouldn’t be late. The new norm takes patience, but we all compromised with new techniques and all went well.
Service is always super slow. But I think they overload the wait staff. I saw our waiter coming back from the barn, which is the bar located in the back of the property. I had to go to bar for drinks and we asked for mayo and mustard and never got it. Also, never had our empty water glasses filled. Food is good but kinda overpriced.
Great brunch for Mother’s Day. Will be back!! Thanks
We arrived at 10 am for our reservation. we were promptly seated and received the waiter's full attention. he was prompt with refills and answered to any question that we had. The entire experience was hands down one of the best dining experiences I have ever had in the Houston area. The food is unique and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant, and double recommend the chicken fried steak....... Best I have ever had!
Awesome evening. Great food and pleasant wait staff.
Great service, great food & drinks! I recommend it!
We had an excellent meal and excellent service. We enjoy the friendly atmosphere and comfortable surroundings.
We love it there. Everything. We go regularly even though it is a long drive from central Houston.
Interesting menu with different spins on traditional comfort food favorites. Southern meets Texas Southwestern (hatch chiles are used in several dishes). Family friendly atmosphere. Bar has extensive whiskey selection, but wine list could offer more options.
Fun, cozy casual venue. Excellent service. Great menu. Value-filled happy hour. We will definitely use this place again as our go-to mid-way venue for traveling from Katy, to dine with our Woodlands friends!
Restaurant was understaffed which was probably not anyone’s fault.
