Frontier's Executive Chef Brian Jupiter has created mouthwatering dishes celebrating American contemporary cuisine, blending game and other seasonal ingredients into classic and approachable fare.
The seasonal dinner menu includes small plates, vegetables, sandwiches and entrees designed to share. Frontier’s menu also features 8-10 varieties of oysters to order a la carte with dinner, or to enjoy with a bottle of beer at the bar. Over the weekend, patrons may indulge in brunch offerings including a wide selection of Frontier signature dishes alongside traditional breakfast items.

Complimenting Frontier's savory menu items are unique wines by the glass & bottle, specialty craft cocktails including creative punches and frozen cocktails along with 16 seasonal and traditional beers on tap featuring American-craft microbrews. The bar is one of the few in Chicago to employ almost all state-of-the-art ice taps that keep beer colder and fresher while providing a cleaner pour.

Per usual the meal was outstanding. However, an issue occurred with our drinks. My wife ordered an expensive pour of bourbon ($36) and was enjoying it with our appetizer. She had half of her glass left when our waitress came by and asked if she'd like another drink before our entrees came out. She decided to have a different, less expensive bourbon($16). Another waitress delivered the new drink and in doing so poured the expensive bourbon into the new glass. We were irritated and told our waitress. She apologized and brought a new drink. If you have an amazing Bourbon offering, charging the cost of a bottle for a 2oz pour, staff need to be trained to know not to mix pours. Also she should have known to bring half a glass of the expensive bourbon and a new pour of the second bourbon.

This was our first visit to FRONTIER and we could not have had a better experience. Absolutely some of the best service ever. Nicki was fun, knowledgeable, and attentive without hovering. She was a delight and I will ask for her again when I return, which I definitely plan to do. Interesting selection of game meats. Green beans were fabulous and wonderful selection of craft cocktails - some of the menu descriptions are hilarious. All in all the best kind of casual dining experience one could hope for.

We went to Frontier for my daughter's 23rd birthday. We had reservations for six and when we arrived the hostess offered us a table "inside" which was right next to the bar and EXTREMELY loud or a table on the "outdoor" patio which was MUCH quieter. We picked the patio. We sat right next to massive windows which were open to the street and luckily it wasn't blazing hot or raining or we would have been drenched. The table for six was really petite and so we had to put the silverware holder on the ground. Not super planning. The restaurant is quite small and there were several large parties there that evening and so a reservation is a must.

The food lived up to my expectations: unique, tasty and shareable. At our table we tried the lamb burger- very flavor-able, Nashville glaze chicken - a HUGE hit with everyone, Bison burger - didn't try, shrimp spaghetti - my husband said it was flavor-able although the portion was small and Beef ribs - HUGE ribs. We also got the five cheese mac-n-cheese - bubbly hot and very cheesy! as well as several appetizers with the shishito peppers wrapped in bacon with fig jam being the JAM.

Our waitress was great, around just the right amount although she was soft spoken and admitted it.

At the end of the night, we declined dessert and she surprised us with THREE desserts for the table. One order of the rutabaga cobbler (not hot enough) and two orders of the S'more desert. The S'more desert was delicious with a buttery graham cracker crust and marshmallows melted on top. YUM!

We would go to Frontier again with friends from out of town who don't mind casual but EXPENSIVE. Our final bill, plus tip, for six was $400! (We did have three rounds of drinks but mostly beer and wine)

We like the vibe, the food and service met our expectations and we can afford the pricey bill.....luckily.

Great brunch Resturant for Sunday. Relaxing and good food. Staff was not pushy but they were attentive. We ate outside near the bar. We were able to have a leisurely brunch with coffee and drinks. We shared a bacon flight, peach coffee roll and bineas (spelling). Then we each had are own different breakfasts. I had French toast that was unique and tasty with pigs belly.

Went early for brunch on a Saturday so it wasn't busy. Food was delicious but not necessarily a spiritual experience. Prices are on par for a big City restaurant. I would definitely go again but not before I spend the money to try other places within that level of quality.

Stopped in for brunch on Sunday and had an amazing meal. The wild boar hash was fantastic. The bloody mary's were expensive, but tasty.

The dishes are far reaching in terms of meats on offer. The vegetarians in our group were able to enjoy some sides, and appetizers, but no main courses. The celiac in our group had an outstanding waitress who marked what could be eaten. I did not take a photograph, but if my memory serves correct it's apps: deviled eggs, kale salad. Meats: wagyu sirloin, a burger option with no bun. Seafood: ahi tuna no bun. Sides: asparagus, green beans, Swiss chard. Several options that you would think would be GF, such as the peppadew skewers, were fried in the same oil as breaded products. Additionally the BBQ sauce apparently contains gluten.

The antlelope was met with a resounding "meh, tastes like meat", while the 5 cheese Mac was a crowd pleaser. The star was definitely the wagyu sirloin, which is so good it's worth trying to drive and park in that area. This was proclaimed as "best meat dish had in a long time".

The prices are very reasonable for this type of place in the city limits, and even getting an entire animal is not overpriced.

The only service issue we had was based on us ordering wings as an appetizer, and one person following that up with it as their main. This caused the crew to send it out prematurely, but that was not held against them in our opinion.

We will be trying to get back here as soon as possible, including trying to get a whole animal service. 11 people who live in the northwest suburbs are willing to drive into the West loop for dinner, this must be high praise!!

I want Ftontier to know the male bar back who cleaned our table and got our napkins and water was much more pleasant than our female server. You might want to consider male servers or talk to the female servers about being much more pleasant!!

Went to Frontier for our book club with a party of 10. Everyone loved the restaurant, the service and the food. I have never had a water buffalo burger before and it was delicious and cooked perfectly. There are even choices for vegetarians. The appetizers, especially the date, bacon and cheese skewers were a major hit.

Parking is the only issue with the location. Glad we found it and I will be back.

Great oysters, great service, great drinks. Had the water buffalo and lamb burgers, wonderful. Thought the dollar oysters might be substandard; no so!

Service kinda sucked took forever to order drinks at the bar and when we got to our table or sever although was nice just took forever to come back and I had to be that person that would wave her down it’s wasn’t that busy of a night and we came in little earlier in the day.

Been there many times...love the food. The servers and management are great.... very friendly.

The food at Frontier is always pretty good, but the service, particularly for brunch, is terrible. This is our 2nd time for brunch, months apart, where service was slow, items were forgotten and food was delivered up to half hour apart for people at the same table. While the staff was apologetic, this does seem to be a pattern.

The food was pretty good and stood on its own. The service, however, was not, and is why we are not likely to return. First, we were seated at a table under dripping condensation. Nothing like water from the ceiling to whet the appetite. There was a problem with the taps, so none of the draft beers were available and they were out of about half of the bottled beers. What I ordered wasn't available, but it took a long time to tell me that and a longer time to bring my next choice. Finally, we were told that food came out of the kitchen in waves. That's fine, but there was only 1 wave and it took longer than expected for anything to arrive. Then, the entrees were delivered about 2 minutes after we received (and before we finished) the appetizers. The place wasn't sufficiently busy that the bar and the kitchen should have been so off kilter.

We selected Frontier for brunch to celebrate a friend’s engagement. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by everyone on the staff. The food was good and came quickly. Our water glasses were. Ever empty and our server gave great suggestions. As a surprise and thank you, we received a complimentary bottle of champagne to toast the happy couple! It’s a great brunch spot and I highly recommend it.

liked the variety of seating options, waiter was friendly, not pushy, but could use more non meat options for appetizers, snack bites if you you just want a small bite with drinks. A girlfriend and I got together to catch up for brunch.

Tired of getting “the open table” table here. Cmon folks we really will enjoy it more if not seated in front of the open door and hostess station. (It has happened more than once, and is particularly annoying when you see better tables sit empty the entire tine you are there.) ps we live in the neighborhood/ not tourists.

Great experience but music was too loud. Couldn't talk over it. Granted, it was right after the Kentucky Derby but once that was over, the pipes in music was just too loud. Food and drink were fantastic.

Amazing food and top notch service. Only thing I didn't love was that it was very loud. They have a lovely outdoor area with a fireplace though si that eves it out :) make sure you order several things from the menu and share!

Great menu but I have to say my server, Kennedy, was phenomenal!!! She made a simple, well prepared and cooked meal fantastic!! She was very attentive and made the dining experience truly exceptional. I would go back just to have her as a server

While the service is great and the menu is different the food just isn't that great. We got the fried chicken sandwich, duck tacos, and ahi tuna sandwich. The fried chicken sandwich is boring in flavor and the breading taste unseasoned. The ahi tuna sandwich is just kind of weird way to eat seared tune. The duck tacos were also strange. It feels as if the Fronteir is trying to be different, but could use to focus on the fact they serve game meat instead of poor sandwich creation and weird topping combinations.
