Such a fun and quirky and historic spot! Lots of food and plenty to eat! Don't judge the book by it's cover- come inside and see why folks continue to go back. We left so full!

I ordered the crab cake appetizer to share. It was a small crab cake so when it came I cut it in half, put half on my plate and poured the aioli all over my half and took a bite…. It was totally cold! It must have been precooked with some sort of plan to reheat… (bake, sauté, fry ), that got completely missed. My husband stuck his thumb in his half still on the original plate and said… “yup- totally cold” . So I asked waitress if crab cake was supposed to be served cold? And she said “no” … seemed slightly embarrassed since she raved about it and apologized, took the half on original plate away and said she’d bring a fresh new warm/ hot crab cake. She came back moments later to tell us that the “chef” refused to give us a new appropriate crab cake and that just heated the half cake left on plate. And I said what about my half already in my plate covered in aioli ( which is not supposed to be heated) and a large bite missing ? And she said she could heat that… but it’s covered in aioli already??? She said sorry… thats all we will do. Pathetic!! Then she proceeded to rush us out of there bringing entree b/4 apps were even close to being done and asked if we wanted dessert yet when we were clearly in middle of eating entree!! Of course then brought bill also n middle of eating entree!

Wanted to give ZERO Stars but system would not let me. I am a local in Edwards and a regular diner until now. We will NOT be returning. We had a 6pm reservation and were continually being rushed to get out and finish our meal. We finished and paid by 7pm. Never offered dessert of coffee just handed bill. And bus services tried to take my dinner plate 2x before I finished meal. IT WAD RUDE!

Our daughter and grandchildren were visiting and this was an evening treat for them. The gentleman who greeted us at the door was extremely rude and told us we had to put an order in immediately because we were five minutes late. My drink was served 15 minutes after sitting down, very late. The whole dinner was rushed from the menu we walked in the door. I would highly recommend you DO NOT dine at this restaurant.

3 of us order steaks medium rare and they came out medium well. We sent them back and then the owner came out and said he would not make us another steak. He said he would take it off the bill but when the bill came it was not removed and he had left for the evening. Apparently he told the staff not to remove the charge from the bill - so he lied to us and then left. Our server felt horrible and was very friendly and great all around. The owner is a major problem and I will never go back here as long as he is affiliated with the restaurant.

This is a must visit dining establishment in the Vail Valley. A bit overpriced but what the heck if you’re already dropping the $ on a ski vacation in Vail/Beaver Creek. Staff is super friendly, ambiance has the classic rustic mountain vibe. Suggest ordering the wild game, especially the elk steak. Bison burger a great choice too. Anyone staying in the fancy resorts in the area, Gashouse is a great change of pace!

We called and were told they had a gluten-free menu. My daughter with Celiac Disease was only able to eat salad and a baked potato. Then we ordered crabs legs. Completely tasteless. We sent them back and ordered a trout meal. We got the bill they had charged us for both and wouldn’t take off the crabs legs. I would not recommend this place .

FAQs

Yes, Gashouse is a cozy, rustic spot that many guests choose for anniversaries and special evenings. The log-cabin decor, warm atmosphere and game/seafood-focused menu (elk, bison, trout, crab cakes) create a memorable date-night vibe. Note: it can get lively and busy, and a few guests reported occasional rushed service, so book a reservation, request a quieter table or an earlier seating for a more relaxed experience.

Portions are generally generous, many guests say entrees come with a potato and vegetable and describe the servings as large and filling. Appetizers can vary (some guests found crab cakes or certain apps on the small side). If you want to share, there are several shareable game appetizers and hearty entrees suitable for splitting.

For a quieter, more relaxed meal, aim for an early dinner or a weekday lunch, those times tend to be less crowded. Evenings and weekend nights fill up quickly and guests often recommend making reservations and arriving on time because the restaurant can be busy and enforces a strict late policy.

The atmosphere is rustic, cozy and distinctly Rocky Mountain, think log-cabin decor, animal mounts and a locals’ vibe. Guests praise the warm, convivial energy and friendly staff; it’s casual and convivial, though it can be lively and noisy at peak times.

Casual dress is appropriate, the restaurant markets itself as casual dining in a relaxed, log-cabin setting. Guests commonly visit in ski-trip and casual attire.

Yes, Gashouse identifies as kid-friendly and many guests bring children and multigenerational parties. That said, a few guests reported being rushed or having awkward seating with infants, so if you’re dining with young children, consider an early seating and call ahead to confirm high chairs or a comfortable table.

The restaurant often gets busy and guests report waits during peak times; while a formal waitlist process isn’t specified, staff commonly manage waits and reservations, so expect a possible wait on busy evenings. Best practice: reserve ahead, arrive on time and call if you’ll be late.

Busiest: weekend evenings and peak dinner hours, guests say tables fill up quickly and the place can be very lively. Quietest: weekday lunches and early dinner seatings tend to be calmer. If you prefer a quieter meal, choose an off-peak time and book ahead.

Weekdays, especially for lunch or an early dinner, are generally the best bet for quieter service and easier seating. If you’re visiting on a weekend or during ski season, make a reservation and expect a lively atmosphere.

They serve lunch and dinner daily, and guests report special holiday service, notably a consistent, traditional Thanksgiving meal. For specific holiday hours or events, call ahead to confirm.
