Girl & the Goat
Located at 809 W Randolph, Girl & the Goat was one of the first establishments in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor. We offer a variety of seating choices, including a comfortable lounge, bar seats, standard table seating, and four seats close enough to the kitchen line that you might be asked to help. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.
What Insiders Are Saying
One of the most well known restaurants in Chicago, and one that lives up to the hype.
Great food! Shareable plates with a variety of different options. Loved it!
Food, service, ambience executed perfectly
Delicious early Valentine’s Day dinner. Service was fine, food was great, got us in and out very quickly
Excellent food and services. All-in the experience was amazing!
I would recommend anyone to come here. It was the best food I have ever had and the group I was with agrees. As a Chef myself, i would love to meet Stephanie as she is an influence to me and she is a seafood genius.
Owen was fabulous.
First time diner. Exceeded all my expectations. Service was impeccable. Food was over the top. All in all, a top tier restaurant. No drama. Just good food.
The food was fantastic and lived up to the billing and hype. We also had the extreme good fortune to be seated at the counter in front of the kitchen. It was fascinating to watch the staff in action preparing our food in front of us. If you can score those seats, I highly recommend it.
Every time I come to Chicago, all I can think of is that I must have pig face in my mouth. The food is always exquisite.
Every dish we had surprisingly reflected the menu description.
Our server Devon was incredible, food and overall experience were fantastic. Enjoyed our family dinner very much.
Food service= excellence
Took my dad out for dinner here and couldn't have been more impressed! To our surprise we were seated looking into the kitchen and got the opportunity to not just see how everything was prepared but also have some good chat with the chefs. The chefs provided some good advice and also hooked us up with some complimentary dishes. Much love! Our favorite fish was by far the confetti goat belly! So flavorful, so tender, so rich! Girl and the Goat is definitely a must visit if your in the Chicago area!!
The food was very hit or miss. Two of the dishes were great, two were inedible. The hostess also left us waiting in the bar (she asked us to wait there saying our table wasn't quite ready) and 20 min later she was taking other parties of 2 direct to their tables upon checkin. We had to ask if she'd forgotten us. She was unapologetic and said she could seat us now.
The food was outstanding, and the energy of the room was great as well. The green beans were easily the best green beans I’ve ever had in my life , and the goat belly with bourbon butter was phenomenal, the service left a little to be desired as I felt our waitress wasn’t as attentive and caring as she was just trying to push us out the door.
Food and service were amazing!
This is a place I have always wanted to go to and finally was able to! And needless to say it didn't let me down in any aspect! Everything ordered was delicious!
Despite having to wait a short while for our reservations. The staff at Girl & the Goat came up Big on our seating for that evening. They gave us the Best seats in the House. We sat kitchen side, where the food gets prepped. It was an amazing experience. Gave off a VIP feeling. All the flavors and food presentation was incredible. The Blood Orange Sorbet is a must. Thank you all.
Fabulous experience as always, amazing food
The meal was phenomenal accompanied by some of the best service I can recall. Would definitely recommend and will be back soon.
I thought the food was pretty overpriced, considering what you got. The prime example being that the $19 goat belly got me a whole three cubic inches of goat belly. Of course, it had other things with it (it was topped with shredded something and a sauce), but being that the main thing I was paying for (and paying a lot for, considering $19 could get me a lot of food other places) was no more than probably 2 ounces of meat. Seems like the price should be lower or there should be more food, considering that dishes are supposed to be shared. It wasn't enough for even one person.
Great as always! Although the last 2 years we’ve let them know in advance that it was my birthday and both times we’ve been sat at a crowded, overly lit table back by the kitchen and then asked for a more private window table that was also open. Given the price, experience etc, and 5 people at the host stand at any given time, ensuring special occasion reservations are sat appropriately would be nice.
Fantastic food and drink. Service was top notch highly recommend
Service was amazing 😊 We’re Vegetarians and founds some great share plates which were delicious.
Was a little noisy though and hard to have a conversation. Would still highly recommend though.
This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants in Chicago! Every aspect of our meal was excellent. Can't wait to go back!
By far, the best dining experience we’ve had. The food was incredible- a toss up between the pork shank and the char; both were top notch. The broccoli! I never knew I could be so passionate about a vegetable! Now to the drinks; I ordered an Old Fashion. The bartender was heavy-handed on the bourbon, just how I like it. The ambiance was subtlety energetic when we first arrived at 4:30, and rose to a passionate frenzy by the time we left at 7:30. Never once did we feel overwhelmed by it- simply because the food is that good. Already looking forward to a return visit on the next trip to Chicago.
Everything was great. From the waitress to the runners and the food was excellent t
Amazing meal. I love this place. Confit goat belly is the most delicious dish I’ve ever tasted.
The food and creativity is always exceptional, Our Server must have been having a bad night, he was kind of rude, had a big large party they he was serving and my group of 2 seemed to be an after thought.
Love this place not the attitude from the server!
Fantastic and you will never be disappointed with this place EVER!!
Loved the food! The family style service makes it easy for everyone in the group to pick and share, which is always the best part of going to a new, great food restaurant.
Girl & the Goat truly lives up to the hype. Every dish we ordered was wonderful, and our server was great. We had a lovely conversation about Star Wars and she really made both myself and my partner feel welcome. I will definitely be coming back.
We had heard great things about this restaurant and it certainly did not disappoint. Every plate that we ordered was absolutely delicious. Very interesting options and be prepared to try something new. The pig face was one of the best dishes I’ve ever tasted.
Perfect place for a group of 2 or 4 to share delicious plates!
First time here and the food was awesome. However, we felt rushed from the start. For a restuarant that serves small plates, diners dont need to be told that the waiter would like the whole order at once. This goes against the whole concept of small plates. In addition, several times throughout our experience employees stood while we took our last bite of a plate. In a place we booked months in advance, we hoped to feel welcomed, we felt hurried to order, hurried to eat, and hurried to finish with little fime to enjoy the moment.
The seating was extremely cramped and the tables had to be pushed together to allow people in and out. The waiter talked over my shoulder and was not helpful with the menu at all.
Food was great, service was ok but you can tell they were trying to rush us out. After waiting forever to to get reservations we wanted to enjoy the experience. Sorry!
Such a fantastic experience! Surprisingly affordable as well.
amazing experience. forgot our servers name but he was phenomenal! we were surprised with the chefs table so got to truly experience the restaurant. It was our first time joining and could truly say it was one of our favorite dining experiences we have ever had. The food was amazing and the service was even better! Charlotte and the two other ladies in garde manger/ dessert station made our experience truly wonderful.
Thank you again!
