Girl & the Goat

We offer a variety of seating choices, including a comfortable lounge, bar seats, standard table seating, and four seats close enough to the kitchen line that you might be asked to help. What Insiders Are Saying
One of the most well known restaurants in Chicago, and one that lives up to the hype.
Amazing food. The lamb ribs are stupendous and melt off the bone.
Every time I come to Chicago I must go to Girl and the Goat. The food is awesome and the service is very nice.
This time, I have a complaint that my table was too close to the kitchen (it is an open kitchen), so I got home smelling like a smoked pork rib.
It won’t stop me of coming back :)
Really nice restaurant, food was amazing. My only complaint is about the portion size. We order ribs and they sent us 3 little cubes of meat.
Food and service were outstanding. Had to wait 20 minutes after out reservation time but the staff was apologetic and kept us informed.
Amazing delicious food! We celebrated two years of marriage, staff made it special!
Delicious! And cozy!
Everything about the experience exceeded our expectations!
great suggestions & service from our server! food was yummy! can’t wait to have them in LA!
Great service and food. We had a party of 6, ordered to share. The waiter’s recommendations were great. We tried a number of unique dishes and enjoyed all of them.
One of the most amazing meals I have ever eaten....... truly an experience! Such great flavors and textures- everything from sweet, to salty, to crunchy and acidic. I am a foodie and know good food when I eat it.
Took my baby sister for her birthday. Food was great as well as service, portions a little small but enough for the 2 of us. Probably wouldn't do a very large group here though, no more than 6- 7.
Spectacular and unpretentious
I made a reservation for 8:15 and wasn't seated until after 9 pm. The reservation was for 3 people and two of them were there before 8:15. I was late because I ended up having to walk to the venue so I showed up at 8:30. The party was for 3, the two people already there should have been seated and instead were forced to wait until I arrived. And then we were told that people were "finishing their desserts" and it would be another 10 minutes. It was another 30 minutes and I had to go to the host again to ask when we would be seated. She thought we were some other group who had been sitting at the bar and sat us within a couple of minutes. My problem is, why make a reservation at all if this is how things are going to go? It was a reservation for three, not a large party. I still don't understand why the first two weren't seated immediately and had to wait for me. Once we were seated the experience was great. In my opinion, the handling of the reservation was unacceptable, the hosts were not helpful nor were they aware. We really should have walked out and gone somewhere else, but felt after all of the time wasted waiting that we should stay. I hope that this isn't a common occurrence.
Great tasting food that you won't find anywhere else. Never thought I'd try a duck tounge, let alone love it!
Our first time dining at this notable restaurant. Now we know that the buzz that still surrounds this excellent restaurant after a decade is well deserved.
Can’t wait to return and sample some of what we missed on the extensive menu.
Great food and awesome service!! Loved it!
Absolutely loved dinner at the Girl & The Goat. Had Tempura Walleye, Goat Empanadas, Pig Face, and Pork Shank. Everything was amazing and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend checking out this restaurant if you are in Chicago. Make sure to make a reservation early because it does get very busy.
Eclectic and unusual, but delicious! For adventure eaters. Pricey, but does not disappoint.
From the moment my friends and I entered the restaurant, we felt welcome and appreciated. Our server was knowledgeable on wine and food options, and helped us make delicious suggestions.
It felt cozy, while also classy. I already can’t wait to go back.
Chris was amazing and he was so helpful for recommendations on our first visit. He really made our last night of vacation amazing. Thanks so much Chris!
They bumped us up to 6 from our reservation of 2 to accommodate for our friends! Don’t think this is typical but just shows good service!
Excellent dinner. As for ambiance, the tables were a bit close. I hear every word of the conversation at our adjacent table. I felt I had to be careful of what I had to say so that nothing personal was overheard.
The food was as good as billed. Very unique and delicious menu items
I wanted to take a moment to thank your entire team but particularly our beyond amazing server, Devin, for the most amazing and delightful dining experience I have ever had. My husband and I were visiting Chicago this past weekend for my birthday, and we came specifically because we were able to get a coveted reservation on Saturday night at my favorite restaurant - Girl and the Goat. This was our second time, and I really did not think the first could be outdone. I was wrong! Everyone at the host stand and the bar were delightful and kind, but Devin truly made our evening spectacular. We asked her to choose dishes for us, which she absolutely did to perfection, and she shared in our enthusiasm and excitement for everything. It was like we were chatting with an old friend, and we could tell she was just as amazing with each and every one of her tables. She was kind, down to earth, attentive, and as I mentioned, shared in our occasion perfectly, from my gushing about Stephanie Izard to selecting perfect dishes, perfect wines, and two perfect desserts to end our meal. Please be sure to extend our thanks to her!
Kudos to the kitchen team, of course, and the happiest of holidays to the entire Girl and the Goat staff. I cannot thank you enough for creating such wonderful dishes and creating an atmosphere that is second to none.
I have heard reviews from friends for years about this restaurant. It was worth the trip into the city! The food and drinks surpassed the hype. The vibe was spot on for a double date night with friends. Even the music was great.
The scallops were amazing. All other dishes were unique and delicious, including the goat. Worth the wait!
I'm sad to say that this place has really lost a few steps. The menu is basically the same that it has been for 4 years. The chefs seem to just be going through the motions. The servers and hostess are more worried about when you'll free up the table, as to how you are enjoying the meal. Apparently you are now required to place your full order when you sit down, as opposed to order it as you go, which goes completely against every tapas experience I've ever had and enjoyed. So feeling rushed and having to order all at once, we ordered quickly and missed a few things that looked interesting at other tables. Our server was really bad; she check on us once, never asked about how the food was, made us feel rushed, doesn't seem to like her job, etc and somehow she doesn't know the pricing because she charged us more for a drink at the table than what we paid at the bar, even though it was the same drink (unforgivable when you charge me $21 for a "well" Old Fashioned). I know liquor is marked, up but my wife's two wines were only $30. In all, there were way too many details being missed, the food is mediocre, and it is WAY to over priced for the quality and flavor. There are PLENTY of other restaurants in Chicago that care about your dining experience and about producing world class food. Try them. I think Stephanie has too much going on right now to focus on TGATG, which is a shame, because 2 year ago the food and service was still really good.
Everything was great other than being seated 12 inches away from another couple when the restaurant was mostly empty at 4:30 on a Saturday.
Everything was absolutely amazing!
One of the best meals of my life and exceptional service! Get the scallops with mushrooms.
Our dinner for four at Girl and the Goat was a memorable, delicious experience. Everything was so flavorful and unusual, service was outstanding, portions were perfect. Worth the wait for the reservation.
Enjoyed our evening by allowing Kristen to make all of our selections, she was fabulous and made our night very special.
It’s the food equivalent of oral sex from a 10 with desert!
Everything about our experience was top-notch! Excellent service, excellent food, and excellent cocktails!! The only drawback is that the seating is very close together, but it didn’t bother us a bit! There is a nice lounge area to wait. We had reservations at 4:30 and were the second table seated. Around 5:15 the restaurant was almost full. We will be back next time we are in Chicago!
Loved everything about the Girl & the Goat. Will go back anytime we are in Chicago.
Took my friend out for a birthday dinner. Everything was wonderful! Waitress was personable, friendly and inviting. All wait staff very friendly. They put a candle in the dessert for a nice birthday touch. Service was quick, but didn’t feel rushed. Food was all delicious.
We had an amazing experience! The only menu item we didn’t care for was the broccoli. The Smokey flavor was way too strong. It was not good. The rest of the dishes were amazing. The flavor combinations were on point! Our waitress was energetic and informative. Drinks were 👍🏻👍🏻.
Very friendly service. The food was excellent. I will eat there again.
Excellent food, innovative menu, great wine list, attentive waitstaff, late-night seating which works well if you are going after a performance. What more could you ask for?
Great food and service. Too loud and chaotic to hold a conversation. Possibly the loudest restaurant I've ever been in. Tables very close together, lots of traffic with patrons, waitstaff in very small aisles and among tables. The bar is fun and ambiance is perfect for that.
