Girl & the Goat
Located at 809 W Randolph, Girl & the Goat was one of the first establishments in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor. We offer a variety of seating choices, including a comfortable lounge, bar seats, standard table seating, and four seats close enough to the kitchen line that you might be asked to help. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.
What Insiders Are Saying
One of the most well known restaurants in Chicago, and one that lives up to the hype.
The food and the entire experience was exceptional! We enjoyed every second.
Great place! Highly recommend!
The food was exquisite and eclectic! We thoroughly enjoyed every course! Dessert was AMAZING!
This was my second time dining here and this place doesn’t stop amazing us. We shared about 10 items from appitizer to dessert and were blown away with each course. Possibly the best tuna belly I have ever had!
Wife loved it it surpassed her expectations, server was dope music was off the chain we will be back
We went for a birthday celebration and Girl and the goat did not disappoint! Would go again!
9 dishes , 2 desserts and it was all delicious and amazing !
It was wonderful. Service was excellent.
Whenever I visit this fantastic restaurant, I am always struck by their treatment of vegetables. I'm not a vegetarian, but the vegetable selections are so good, that they could be the main event! The experience was complemented by our kind, attentive and extremely personable waiter. I wish I had the time to have a standing weekly reservation at Girl & the Goat, it is consistently a superb dining experience.
Great food but extremely loud. As long as you know that going in, your going to love Girl and the Goat!
Great server;.Slight hitch with coursing, as our bread didn’t come out until almost the end of the meal, but everything our server suggested was amazing.
The food was so good great for date night or a friendly outing. We loved how the servers would tell how about each dish as they brought them out, that just add to the delicious experience we were going to have. We had a great night on a Tuesday btw and it was because of Girl & the Goat so thank you and keep up the great work :)
It was sublime. Best dining experience for the price I think I've ever had.
This place did not disappoint.... went with a friend who is a big Top Chef fan. She had high expectations and I was concerned that she might be disappointed; however I was pleasantly impressed! Our server was super!
I believe my expectations were too high. The bread was ordinary, and I was surprised that they charged for it. The appetizers were unique, but not in a good way. The squash slaw was heavy with vinegar, and the calamari was soggy. The empanada taste like mystery meat in dough. Unfortunately, given the disappointment with appetizers and "specialty" bread, we finished our wine/beer and left before ordering anything further. The cost is high for the portions, so unless the taste is extraordinary, which it was not, this was a poor value for us.
Fantastic food, fantastic service, reasonably priced. We enjoyed every bit of it. Thank you!
Our first time here and we were beyond pleased. Amazing food and service as we've come to expect from Stephanie's restaurants. The dishes just blew us away.
Best. Food. Ever. This place really makes you step outside of the box and try new and amazing things. Servers are always great with recommendations too!!
I thought the food was very good, but for the hype I was expecting more. Not too much different than any other foodie type place.
I had made reservations for our 2nd anniversary, and indicated so on the reservation. Yet, they sat us in the corner of the restaurant right next to the kitchen with barstools and next to a service station. It was cool to be able to see the action going on in the kitchen, but it was VERY hot and uncomortable and all the clanging and busy servers passing by and yelling of orders wasn't exactly what I would have hoped for for an anniversary date. It would have been nice to be at a real table for the occasion.
Our server was very short with us. Did not smile. Bolted out of our site as soon as she got the information from us that she needed, not allowing time to ask questions. She didn't really seem to care that we were celebrating anything.
Overall we were disappointed with our experience. We had heard so many great things, but it didn't live up to what we had expected.
This was hands down one of the most unique meals I have ever had. They incorporated such uniques blends of tastes for all palettes to enjoy. A friend had recommended going there and I was curious, we went in with an open mind and those minds were blown away!!! Our server was funny and engaging. My water glass was never less than half full. Despite it being very busy our food came out at a reasonable time. We ate: goat empanadas, roasted duck face, calamari, and the olive bread. The olive bread was only $5 and was the biggest surprise of all! They made this green olive and garlic spread to accompany the bread that was phenomenal. I wanted to bathe in it. You NEED to eat here!! Expensive - but worth it.
Great place— second visit for us. Creative and original, look forward to going back.
Everything was fabulous. Loved the music, food, and our server was amazing. She went out of her way to handle my food allergy and make sure everything was perfect. If we lived closer I’d definitely be a regular. Try the Goat Empanadas and the Beef Tongue. The Blood Orange Sorbet is IMO the perfect after dinner dessert.
Phenomenal - small city transplant in Chicago and have heard of this place for years. Completely lived up to the hype! Great job!
Have been in the past and have had great experiences , but the last time I went, our waiter was not attentive, only came by to take our order and when we called him over to ask for the check.
Beautiful atmosphere and the servers were pleasant. But the bartenders made the first impression. From the get go, they offered beautifully crafted drinks while we waited for our table to be ready. Even behind the oak, they knew the menu down to the special and offered their own unbiased opinions. The menu was tasteful and portion size helpful for groups of 6. Would like to go back and try even more of the menu. Looking forward to many more nights with good food, with even better people
Consistent quality, and as usual an awesome staff. That’s all I had to say.
Landmark birthday and anniversary. Has been my favorite in Chicago for many years. Desserts were amazing! Memorable experience with desserts, by far. Enjoyed the Branzino! The other six dishes were small and very disappointing. The waiter was pushy and absent. He also forgot to order a key dish, which made for a l o n g wait. If I go back, It would be for dessert after eating somewhere else. I have always bragged about Girl and the Goat. It's quality has changed. The product is inconsistent, chefs...?
Awesome meal and spectacular service! Broccoli dish was great
The food is out of this world. The restaurant is a great place to share laughs, stories, and memories over great food and drinks.
Great service and wonderful food
Too crowded. Too loud. Food not that great. Weird crowd.
The food at Girl & the Goat is fantastic! The service was great! The only negative is your are crowded into a dining area which is always full. Sometimes it feels as if you are involved in other diners meals and conversations.
Fantastic food. A great night for sure!
This is my third try for a reservation here on my rare trips to Chicago and worth the wait and I hope to come back. Loved the setting. Wait staff attentive but not overbearing. Food exceeded my already high expectations for uniqueness and taste.
The staff made our evening very special with their warm and friendly service.
Simply a phenomenal experience was had when I decided to take clients here for dinner. The staff was quick, friendly, and consistently checking in when they saw we were running low on things. The food was out of this world delicious and eclectically delivered a memorable dining experience.
The food was amazing
I’ve been following the chef since her season on Top Chef. My expectations were high. They were surpassed! Excellent service. I was in town on business and it was just me. They actually allowed me to do half portions so I could taste more off the menu. Green beans with fish sauce vinaigrette were perfect. Chickpea fritters, delicious. Scallop perfectly good and sneakily earthy and rich. Goat empanada worth the hype. Pig Face, rich, decadent and delicious. Every dish was a loser focus on the main ingredient with a perfect balance of sweet, savory, rich, acidic and texture. And every dish had a little flavor you weren’t expecting that sent it over the top. Chef Izzard can you please please please PLEASE branch out to Phoenix next!
