We were cozy and warm in the outdoor space-which is a giant venue tent with heaters.
We had a wonderful meal and evening at the Glover Park Grill.
I SO wanted this to be a great dinner as it is a wonderful neighborhood location and I am usually very fond of the chef's menu. Unfortunately the quality of the food was very mixed. My chicken Parm was cold with a glob of "melted" cheese on top and way too much breading. The spring pasta dish however was delicious. Warm, creamy and flavorful. Pasta was cooked perfectly. The crabcake was good but the beans served with the dish stole the show. Very flavorful. Overall the food was good, but at that price point I would have expected better. Our biggest disappointment was the service. While our server was very friendly, he did not seem to really know what he was doing. He "took our order" twice because he didn't remember taking it the first time, offered to bring bread but never did. Additionally it took 1 hr and 20 min for us to receive our main course. That is WAY too long, especially as we were told several times that our food was "almost out". I will likely give it another try as it has a nice outdoor venue, but I hope they can work out the kinks with the food quality and the timing of the food service.
This was the place Tom Sietsma raves about? Waited fifteen min to be given water and get a bar order. Bartender doubling as a waitress was stretched too thin. Food concepts were good but dishes were not hot especially the fries. Asked for extra napkins. Had them taken away before we could grab them. Had to ask three times for them. Cold wine had no bucket. Forgot a cappuccino order. Went to the bar to ask for the check so we could finally leave. All this for over two hundred. Won’t be back
Awesome food, fantastic service and very nice outdoor seating
Everything was excellent,My only complaint was the service.
The service was excellent but the food didn’t match it. I could definitely have made the same exact burger at home.
Loved it ! The service was so good and the brunch was delicious. Perfect for outdoor dining
The hostess and wait staff were great--very accommodating!
Sadly the food was a BIG disappointment. Sietsema gave the restaurant a rave review March 28 and we have been trying to support neighborhood restaurants. The potato leek soup was tepid (not warm) thick non-descript taste with a couple of small bits of apple and one tiny bit of smoked trout. The Crab Cake was NOT MARYLAND CRAB AND DEFINITELY NOT "JUMBO LUMP" just shredded nicely shaped patty -- we were not sure whether crab meat was included in the cake. -- We won't be returning. Sietsema should pack it in
excellent steak, excellent fish, excellent cookies, excellent staff. The ambience was excellent .
Read the Post review but had already decided to try it. The potatoe soup and Caesar salad were outstanding. Shrimp and grits were highly recommended by the Post and server and were good but a bit on the bland side. Same with the fried chicken. The outside terrace was covered and inviting and has heat lamps but was not needed last night. We will go back.
There was one waitress making drinks and taking orders for the whole restaurant. She was nothing short of amazing! Especially considering that she was incredibly sweet and pleasant whenever we got the chance to chat with her. All in all we had a great evening...the ambiance was set right with a fantastic playlist of jazz and soul classics, which got us in a wonderful, relaxed mood.
We had mixed greens with goat cheese salad, which they graciously split in two plates for us — the mandarin pieces were a bit dry, but other than that the salad was lovely (with added crunch and flavor provided by toasted walnuts and a tangy balsamic glaze dressing). The deviled eggs were phenomenal (though the bacon on top could’ve been a bit crunchier).
We stuck to pizza and a burger because we’d read good reviews about both and didn’t want to take a chance on overpaying for “better” entrees, but be disappointed (based on what other reviews had said) — and they didn’t disappoint! We got pepperoni on the pizza and the burger was a perfect medium rare — not to mention the fries were the best I’ve had since McDonald’s fries in the 80’s! (When they were still “natural”.) Seriously amazing fries — how did they do that!? Thin, light in color, and incredibly crispy — with plenty of salt! (Almost a tad bit too much, though, and I love salt...) The burger had a “special sauce” on it that was fantastic. More cornichons would be welcome (we got one on a tooth pick) but there were pickles in the burger so that sort of made up for it...
We had two cocktails — both made with gin. The Rickey is served in a tall glass (on the rocks) and was a tad bit too sweet for me, though nicely flavored. The other was served up and was lightly “flavored” by yuzu and ginger. We also had a bottle of Montepulciano, which was okay (but I’ll take an old world red over a California Cab any day). It paired great with our pizza!
Desserts were a sundae and bread pudding, which were also delicious. We will be back!
The food was wonderful and the service pleasant and quick. The tables were on the parking lot because the new outdoor pavilion was being renovated. That was the only downside to the evening.
Wonderful neighborhood find...............so friendly and welcoming, food is quality, love their steak tartare!
Went for brunch. Bread basket was good. Entrees were fair at best.
We're so happy to have another good restaurant in our Glover Park Neighborhood. The Grill's currently semi-enclosed outside space has nicely space tables, nice table settings (love that hefty flatware!), and lots of overhead heaters for cool temps. We had server turn ours off altogether as it was already pretty warm outside on Saturday eve. Our server was pleasant and efficient. We asked to split one of the salads and it was presented nicely split already by the kitchen. Husband had short ribs, which were quite substantial and excellent, I had double pork chop with brussel sprouts and sweet potato smear. Should have asked for steak knife for porkchop. Chop was very large and very dense. Think it was a little overcooked, because it wasn't at all juicy. Brussel sprouts were excellent. Menu items were more expensive than I had imagined - with almost all entrees over $30 - and steak frites at $47. We'll definitely go back - but may for burgers - or to try their pizza next time....
Wanted to impress the in-laws, I’ve heard good things about this place so off of a whim I took them here for an early dinner. They did not disappoint. Off of a first impression very welcoming. Knowledgeable staff, great recommendations. Food is to die for. Comforting, no frills. Dominque was very warm she saw to it that we had an enjoyable stay. Overall great experience.
Disappointing and expensive. Crabcakes were small, too much filler, and not tasty. Cocktails were very good and service with Jessica was excellent.
Cute atmosphere, slightly expensive food but all pretty good
Had a wonderful night out with my college senior manchild for covid spring break. The food was fantastic. Highlights included the spicy deviled eggs, steak frittes, and shrimp & grits. If you have room for dessert the banana chocolate bread pudding was delicious. Great service as well.
We were very excited to try Glover Park Grill. Our server was fantastic . He really went out of his way to make us comfortable. Unfortunately we were disappointed with our meat dishes. The beef tartare would have been perfect with some acid and a little salt - the fresh dill was delicious but made the dish a little one note. We ordered the pork chop, which was pretty flavorless and not worth the price. Our other app, the deviled eggs, were fantastic, as were the brussel sprouts served with the pork chops. The cavatelli and crab was outstanding too. I really wanted to give it more stars, and if we go back and find the meat to be more flavorful, I will.
Outside deck was comfortable, though Wisconsin Avenue traffic can be annoying at times.
We had a wonderful night. Tables were spaced far apart. Waitstaff was helpful and friendly. Food was delicious
A lovely, if improvised, outdoor restaurant. A cool Friday evening and a cool restaurant. Highly recommended. Had the shrimp and grits, preceded by a large caesar salad, lubricated by a Manhattan. AW
This place was wonderful! The NY Strip, although quite pricey, was absolutely delicious. The zesty chicken was very interesting, I found the combination of flavors to be an original fresh twist on chicken which can otherwise be boring. It was cooked to perfection. The fries were great and crispy. The wine was very good and decently priced. The outdoor dining setting is beautiful, elegantly rustic and simple, and quiet. The bill was a bit steep but given the quality of the food, it was well deserved. Service was great.
Such a great experience. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was great! The service was considerate, professional and friendly. We sat on the outdoor patio which was great and very spaced out. Wine selection was great!
Really great ambience and I'm happy to have something new in Glover Park, but the quality and taste of the food was not worth the price. We had the wings which were good along with the steak tartar which was had a ton of dill and a cream of some sort which created a not great combo and the staff forgot to serve the bread with it. My fiance and I shared the trout and duck confit entree and felt queasy a couple bites in so we couldn't finish it. The trout made the duck taste really fishy.
We saw a lot of people eating burgers and pizza though - so maybe we just made the wrong choices and should have stuck to bar food like the wings.
Usually I do takeout from here but we felt like getting out and I must say tastebuds were on vacation tonight. Service is exceptional Alex was a courteous server. Dominic was gracious and accommodating.
Life-Threatening Food Allergy explained to the server, but the other staff still brought nut products to the table.
The servers were very in tune with our needs and even moved us when the heater next to us wouldn’t work. So kind and generous.
Nicely spaced tables. Deck kept warm. Good, attentive service.
Service was great but food is mediocre with not a large enough selection and way too overpriced for the flavors to not “wow” you.
Great spot. Very attentive service. I wish they had a more robust wine list
Very good experience, the bartender was phenomenal
GM was awesome. Accommodated our request to book a table so we could use OP rewards but allowed us to pick up our meals. Forgot our salad and ice cream was all melted, but otherwise order was great. We had the potato leek soup and crabcake starters; trout, pork chop, and short ribs for main courses; and banana chocolate bread pudding and apple crisp for dessert. Everything was delicious! Not usually a big fan of hotel restaurants, but will definitely plan a return visit.
We love this place. It's been a great addition to the neighborhood and the deck is a nice addition.
Website says you could chose from regular menu even during Open Table, but that is not true. Once there, after waiting, and with your glass, you can’t leave. That is not a fair way to get clients.
Only draw back was that every time a car pulled in to the hotel, the headlights would shine directly into my eyes. Otherwise, food was outstanding, service was excellent and overall ambiance was great for date night.
A great option for outdoor dining. Will be eager to try the dining room once circumstances allow!
Wonderful food! We dined for restaurant week and between the six of us tried just about everything on the menu. We enjoyed wine with our meal. Service was a bit slow but we were understanding given that it was a Saturday evening. We sat inside but they have what appeared to be a heated outdoor tent.
