Always are absolute favorite Asian barbecue. We love the beef sukiyaki rice, and all of the meats are always delicious. The servers are always top-notch and super kind. Continues to be one of our favorite spots in Orlando.

Loved finding Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ Orlando while in Orlando — one of my favorites from back home! We did the supreme AYCE ($74 pp) and it was absolutely worth it. The meats were fresh, tender, and flavorful. June provided great service and kept everything flowing. Will definitely be back!

I've eaten here several times, but it's been a long time since I've been. The service is getting worse and worse. I'll never go there again. No wonder business is declining.

I believe this restaurant might be short staffed at the moment. It took 15 minutes to sit us even though there were open tables and 30 minutes for someone to take our order

I have been a customer for years, but unfortunately, my experience yesterday was very disappointing. There were several issues with the service and food quality during our meal: - Despite having an reservation, the person who received us told us that the tables were full and that we had to wait more than 20 minutes to be seated. - The course order was incorrect, with the main meat dishes served first and the appetizers served at the end. - The rice we ordered did not arrive until after we had already finished eating. - The portion sizes were significantly smaller than what we have received in the past. - Overall, the quality of the food was lower than the standard I have come to expect. I wanted to bring these matters to your attention. I hope this feedback is helpful in maintaining the high standards your establishment is known for.

Food was great and our server was really good however the charged 18% gratuities on the check and asking another tips. I am sure some people did not realize the charge and add tips. This isn’t right.

FAQs

Yes, Gyu-Kaku Dr. Phillips is a fun, romantic option for a date night if you enjoy interactive dining. The tabletop yakiniku grills make it an engaging experience for couples, and many guests praise it for anniversaries and first-date nights. Expect a lively atmosphere (music and chatter can be loud at peak times), so for a quieter evening choose a weekday or an earlier dinner and make a reservation to secure a relaxed table.

Portions are generally generous, especially if you order the all-you-can-eat (AYCE) options, which many guests say deliver good value and plenty of meat. A la carte plates are typically ample but some long-time guests report portions have shrunk a bit over time. If you’re sharing, the party sets and AYCE menus are best for sampling lots of cuts; for solo or smaller groups, consider the lunch specials or mid-tier combos for the right balance.

Gyu-Kaku Dr. Phillips hours are: Mon–Thu and Sun 11:30 AM–10:00 PM, Fri–Sat 11:30 AM–11:00 PM. They also run Happy Hour during weekdays and earlier weekend hours (Tue–Fri 3:00–5:00 PM; Sat–Sun 11:30 AM–5:00 PM), with late happy hour evenings on select days. Call ahead during holidays or special events to confirm special hours.

Yes, Gyu-Kaku is family-friendly and commonly hosts parties, birthdays, and family meals; many guests report children enjoying the tabletop grill experience. The restaurant is casual and suited to groups of different sizes. Accessibility details (ramps, ADA seating) aren’t specified in the provided info, so if you need specific accessible seating or accommodations, call the restaurant ahead and they’ll advise and try to help.

Best times are weekday lunches or early weeknights when it’s quieter and service tends to be faster. Guests particularly praise the lunch specials for good value. If you prefer a livelier scene, evenings on weekends are energetic but busier, expect longer waits. Reserving ahead and arriving earlier in the evening helps avoid peak wait times and ensures a smoother, more relaxed meal.

The atmosphere is lively, social, and fun, perfect for celebrations, group dinners, or an active date night. Guests often describe energetic music, buzzing dining rooms, and a convivial vibe as you cook at the table. Note that it can get loud at peak times, and a few guests prefer earlier or weekday visits for a quieter meal. Overall it’s casual, engaging, and built for shared, hands-on dining experiences.

Casual dress is appropriate, the restaurant welcomes relaxed, comfortable attire. Guests typically come in casual clothing for group dinners, family nights, and celebrations. If you’re attending a special occasion, smart-casual is also fine, but there’s no formal dress requirement listed.

Yes, guests report that staff often accommodate substitutions and allergy needs (for example, swapping a meat item), and servers are praised for helping manage allergies. Because policies and kitchen pace vary, call the restaurant ahead for any special requests: dietary restrictions, seating needs, or celebration touches. For big groups or specific menu alterations, advance notice is recommended to ensure the team can prepare.

Yes, families frequently dine here and many guests bring kids for birthdays and family outings. Children enjoy the interactive grilling experience, and guests note kid-friendly portions and kids’ meals are available in some visits. Because the experience involves hot grills, consider an early seating for younger children and let staff know you’re dining with kids so they can help seat you appropriately.

Yes, during peak times there can be waits even with reservations, and guests report occasional delays in seating or service when the restaurant is busy. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially for weekend evenings and large groups. If you’re visiting at a peak time, expect potential hold times and consider arriving earlier or booking ahead to reduce the chance of a wait.

Midweek (Tuesday–Thursday) or weekday lunch are the best days for a calmer visit and quicker service; guests praise lunch deals and quieter tables then. If you want a more celebratory vibe, Friday–Saturday evenings deliver lively energy but expect noise and busier service. Sunday evenings can be a good compromise with a more relaxed atmosphere than weekend prime time.

Often yes, but holiday hours can vary, many guests report dining there on holidays like Christmas and Mother's Day, suggesting the location operates during major holidays. Because holiday schedules sometimes change, call ahead to confirm hours for the specific holiday you plan to visit to avoid surprises.
