Visit Harvest for a long lunch on the cool verandah, sample the bespoke weekly changing Wild Harvest menu at night (which is created after a day foraging in the Hinterland) or enjoy a traditional country breakfast at the weekend.
Harvest has received multiple accolades over the years including a hat in the Good Food Guide 2019 and Best Small List (50 Wines) by Gourmet Traveller Wine 2018.
Awesome service and good quality!
From the moment we arrived, which was 15 mins later than booked, we were made to feel welcome! We were taken straight to our table, which was gorgeous on the balcony. The wait staff offered us water and came back in timely moment for drinks. I questioned him on a few wines and made a decision with his assistance. The champagne & wine was delicious! The starters, entre, mains & dessert were all magnificent. Also the piccolo latte at the end of the meal was really good. We'll go back!
Always pleasant atmosphere - we have visited Harvest for special occasions but noticed quantity of food halved and prices remain high-ish. Could add a little extra in the kitchen to make it that extra special.
Always awesome - whenever we visit from Chicago we find ourselves here! And can't wait for the next time!!
Fabulous meal in a fabulous setting.
The setting is amazing in the tropical bush of the Hinterlands. Food was delicious
Beautiful location & superb use of space. So much more than a restaurant, with the deli and garden to peruse. Food was gorgeous looking and tasting. Super friendly staff. Can't wait to go back!
Dined here twice for lunch and dinner. The menu changes weekly so offers a great variety for any returned visits.
Food wise, everything was very delicious and fresh. Most of the produce is either grown on site or sourced from surrounding local region and it really shines in the taste. Make sure you pop next door to the deli to pick up some bottled sauces.
Ambiance is great and is situated in the sleepy town of Newrybar. We were very relaxed and enjoyed both meals very much.
Excellent food with superb, imaginative flavors. Staff are friendly, professional and eager to please. By our estimation the best restaurant in the Byron Bay region
Another lovely meal with friends and family. Great produce all locally sourced and well cooked.
Dog friendly and great staff how are easy going and knowledgeable.
Need to review the practise of having to order additional vegetables with mains when paying $82 for meat only !!
Brilliantly creative locally sourced food delivered with passion. Visit Harvest and find out how to eat real food in a contemporary way. Learn about indigenous herbs and spices and find living examples in the veggie garden. Experience the qualities of an old fashioned local village with its Main Street from a lovely verandah looking out onto the rich local landscape. Why not?
The lamb shoulder shared between two people will blow your mind!
My girlfriend and I had the best experience.
Amazing organge wine on a hot day with the potato’s and green salad paired with the lamb shoulder. Perfection!
We were so impressed with the high quality of the food and thoroughly enjoyed every dish and were so impressed with the presentation of each dish. Can’t wait to return.
Just wonderful. The food, the staff and the location was all perfect. The philosophy behind the food served is amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant
We love the food and the thought behind the menu. Pete the forager was amazing and so informative. His passion and knowledge is outstanding. We felt very welcomed and most of the staff were fabulous. Unfortunately the waitress looking after was less so. She looked bored from the moment we arrived and wandered around as though she 'd rather be anyone else. We had to ask for things a couple of times which I thinks lets down the whole experience. eg wine refills, butter, ice
Good quality food although the dishes were a little undersized. Notwithstanding the satisfying eating experience the service from the wait staff was average - the sommelier was disinterested and rude while the waitress was perfunctory at best. And on reading other reviews (and the fact the restaurant was not at capacity at the height of the summer season) would suggest an endemic issue. This is a shame as it could be easily addressed but is totally unacceptable for the price.you pay.
Having dined here over 30 times over the years, we were disappointed to find the service arrogant and dismissive. We sent our underdone main back to the kitchen which was returned correctly prepared, but the attitude that went with that process was unforgivable. The food is still quite good, but what's with the wine list? A terrible selection and we struggled to find anything that was worth drinking. Sad to find one of your favourite food experiences getting complacent.
Fabulous location and great service. Let down a little by the ever diminishing portion sizes.
We had the 5 course dinner but left quite hungry lol
Food quality was amazing but honestly a first course of one thin sweet potato chip with a tiny fillin, is more an amuse bouche than one of 5 courses.... and the ‘main’ was two 2cm by 1cm pieces of wagyu beef with a leaf on top.
The entire meal did not have any significant vegetable content.
All that said we had a very enjoyable evening otherwise !
Went here with some visiting relatives. Great service, food is amazing! They have a full time “forager” who sources a lot of the ingredients locally (eg seaweed, wild sorrel). Lots of native ingredients used too. Knowledgeable waitstaff, very friendly. Would definitely go again.
Quick lunch where we shared entrees and had a couple of glasses of sparkling.
The fish rilette with bread and pickles was delicious, as were the prawns and olives we had.
Another great lunch at Harvest, always a must-visit when staying in Byron. Definitely worth the trip.
Exquisite food (king fish ceviche, Ballina prawns, Snapper, Chicken) and great wine list.
Great food and very nice atmosphere
Good outdoor seating
Harvest is a beautiful setting in a lovely historic town. A great total experience. we loved the food, which was interesting, tasty and creative. There are so many wonderful sounding things on the menu. It was hard to choose. We would go back again and highly recommend!
Stunning lunch. Beautiful staff. Can not fault it!!!
Fresh produce cooked well. Good flavours and everything was seasoned perfectly. Make sure you book as many people were turned away with no booking. Fresh bread baked on site is amazing. Would definitely return.
General review: Very poor wine selection (esp red wine, too young and too hot). Spasmodic service on a night when the floor not overly busy. Poor course substitution for one allergy (replacing rpawn with turnip). Bizarre desert,
Our group of 4 had breakfast and we all enjoyed our meals very much. Not a huge menu but plenty of choice and everything cooked very well. Our interstate guests particularly loved the garden setting and friendly efficient service.
Harvest never disappoints. Fantastic service, fantastic setting and the food is delicious.
The food was exceptional. Gorgeous mix of flavors. Generous portions.
Service matched the food and was amazing.
We have loved Harvest in the past exquisite. This time lunch was ordinary. Ambience of Christmas and Harvest nil. Went for our daughters 21st. A total disappointment.
This was my third time here. Food and service has always been exceptional. This time it was a little disappointing. Chicken was on the menu but they didn't have any that day, which left us with 3 other choices of mains 1. kangaroo 2. broccoli and corn 3.something else we didn't fancy. My friend had 3 ballina prawns for $29 Yikes! My selections of entrees were delicious. Ordered a cocktail that tasted like a herbal tonic/medicine. Thankfully they didn't charge us for it.
Harvest is a hidden gem. Beautiful food in a lovely rural setting.
A long time since I have been up that way but Harvest was every bit as good as it was the last time: probably better. It was the ideal place for a catch-up lunch lingering over an outstanding meal. Attentive and friendly service was another plus as was the overall ambience of the place. Excellent.
Wonderful food and service. Bringing our toddler didn’t feel like too much effort - colouring pencils provided and the veg garden out back was a good place to explore.
The experience at Harvest was totally delightful. There wait staff were friendly helpful and attentive. The food was exceptionally good. We requested a vegan meal and the chef went out of his way to create a truly delightful range of food for us. The quiet romantic atmosphere made for a really memorable evening.
This beautiful restaurant once again fulfilled our expectations. The attentive staff know everything about the menu and the wines. Definitely a destination experience.
The wines listed were poor. We had a Pinot Noir from 2018 which tasted very young. We could not find a Shiraz (our drink of choice) from any of the quality regions. We were disappointed.
The food was ok.
Service was excellent.
When we arrived we were ask to sit and wait for our table, which wasn't a problem. However once seated we were rushed after only being seated for max 30 minutes, we were told the kitchen was closing and we had to order. This was not communicated to us at time of booking or when we arrived. We usually love visiting harvest for the relaxed laid back atmosphere. Instead we were made to feel rushed and as though we were an inconvenience. Have been visiting for seven years and now hesitant to return.
We’be Been coming here for 20 odd years and this is probably the most disappointed we have been. Breakfast was always our fav meal here and although it was still yummy, portions were tiny and they just didn’t seem as gourmet as usual. There was really nothing to rave about like we usually do. We will prob all still go there once in a while but it’s not like Harvest of old.
