My wife had the broiled shrimp while I had the scallops. We have been in Newport a week and eaten at several different places(all were good), but this was the best.

My husband and I dined here at the end of our wedding anniversary trip to Newport. The food, atmosphere, and service were all excellent. The linguini with scallops and the white sauce were divine. One of my favorite dishes of the weekend for sure! Will definitely be returning upon a return trip to Newport.

Food was really good! My 21 year old daughter said the best chicken she ever had about chicken scampi. Waitress was excellent. Hostess could have been more friendly. Also was sat by door so chilly when it frequently opened.

Hooked was a good spot, and we had not been there since it opened. The host was going to put us next to the door and graciously moved us away from it because we had an older relative with us. The menu was great, and the portions were huge and tasty. Our server was decent; however, she never came back to ask if we wanted another drink until we had been sitting for a while and were ready to leave. We will head back for sure.

FAQs

Yes, Hooked is a popular choice for date night. Guests frequently praise the cozy, intimate atmosphere, attentive service, and expertly prepared seafood that make it great for a special evening. Expect warm, softly lit indoor dining, live music on some nights, and a lively bar; weekends are more energetic, so reserve ahead if you want a quieter table. Consider requesting a patio or a booth for extra intimacy and ask about quieter seating when you book.

Portions at Hooked are generally generous. Many guests note large, hearty servings, entrées like the Lobster Fra Diavolo and Baked Stuffed Lobster are often described as more than enough for two. Expect substantial seafood plates and sides; if you prefer lighter portions, consider sharing an appetizer and a main or asking your server about typical portion size.

Hooked’s posted hours are limited and focused on evening service: Thursday 5:00 pm–8:00 pm; Friday and Saturday 5:00 pm–9:30 pm. Because hours can change for holidays or special events, call ahead or check the restaurant’s current listing before you go, especially outside peak season.

Yes, Hooked welcomes families and is accommodating. Guests report bringing older relatives and children, and staff have helped by moving parties away from drafts or doors. The restaurant offers indoor and seasonal outdoor seating and can usually adjust seating on request; if you need wheelchair access or other specific accommodations, call ahead so the team can help.

The best time depends on your preference: for a quieter meal, visit midweek or early in the evening, guests often note slower weekday nights. If you want a lively vibe with live music and a bustling bar, come on a weekend evening but reserve ahead. Peak season and weekend nights fill up fast, so reservations are recommended.

Hooked has a warm, lively seafood-bistro vibe: softly lit, cozy inside with an energetic crowd on weekends and occasional live music. Guests praise a friendly, welcoming staff and a relaxed-but-upscale casual dining feel. Note that it can be loud at peak times because tables are close; if you prefer a quieter night, choose a weekday or an early seating.

The dress code is business casual. Guests commonly arrive in smart casual or resort wear, comfortable but neat, so plan accordingly for an evening out in Newport. If you have a special event, you can always dress a bit more formally.

Yes, Hooked’s staff are known to be accommodating. Guests report staff moving tables for older relatives, handling dietary substitutions, and helping with celebratory touches. Call ahead to request specific seating (patio, away from doors), dietary accommodations, or celebration notes; the team will usually try to help make your visit comfortable.

Families do dine at Hooked and guests often celebrate birthdays and bring teens. The menu is seafood-forward with limited specifically kid-focused dishes, so older children and teens will find plenty to choose from. For younger children, consider an early seating or request a table away from high-traffic areas and check with the staff about menu flexibility.

Busiest: Friday and Saturday evenings and peak summer/holiday weekends, guests report a lively, energetic crowd and occasional live music. Quietest: midweek evenings and slower weekday nights, when guests note a more relaxed, conversation-friendly atmosphere. To avoid crowds, aim for early weekday bookings.

For a quieter, more intimate meal pick a weekday (Tuesday–Thursday) or an early evening, guests say midweek is calmer. If you want a buzzy, energetic night with live music and a lively bar scene, Friday or Saturday will give you that vibe. Either way, make a reservation during peak season.

Hours for holidays aren’t listed in the available information. Guests have dined there during holiday weekends (Labor Day and December visits are mentioned), but holiday hours can vary, call the restaurant ahead to confirm specific holiday openings and hours.

Yes, Hooked offers seasonal outdoor seating. Guests describe a pleasant patio area with planters and barrels separating it from the parking lot, and many enjoyed dining outside during fair weather. If you prefer outdoor seating, request it when you make your reservation.
