About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Good for groups
  • Neighborhood gem
Here at iâl Restaurant, we are passionate about creating an excellent dining experience whilst caring for our environment. iâl Restaurant offers only the best contemporary cuisine, produced using a mix of home grown and locally sourced Welsh ingredients. Using the Welsh and European Farm to Fork strategy, we farm our own meat, grow our own fruits and vegetables, and produce our own dairy with our colleagues at Northop and Llysfasi farm. In collaboration with Coleg Cambria, we introduce to you a fresh approach to dining, here in the heart of Wrexham town centre. In light relaxing surrounding, submerse yourself with friends and family in our beautiful retreat. Where the music is acoustic and the lights dimmed, come sample our signature 15 hour cooked beef brisket dish or let us choose for you with our weekly specials. If the sound of that doesn't grab your attention, the smell of our fresh focaccia and sourdough we bake everyday will.

The meal today was the “Student Takeover” It was absolutely delicious very well prepared and presented all the students are a real credit to the college young chefs in the making and front of house friendly and professional in every way. It was a lovely lunch with my family and we will be returning there next week. We think it’s so important to support the students and local businesses.

It was a Student prepared meal, well cooked and presented. We have marked down the service a little as the student waiter appeared nervous and as such was a bit brusque. The flambé banana was however a success. Overall well done.

We first went here around 3 yrs ago and haven’t been since until this weekend. Food was good 3 yrs ago and was still the same. Don’t expect an extensive menu, but what is on it was superb. Will definitely not be leaving it so long again.

Our 5 courses on the Nathan Booth evening where superb. The quality and value is the reason I have given 5*overall Service levels at 4* not quite matching the food presented. So its really a 4.5* overall. The duck dish was a little slow in arriving, but was worth the wait. Another excellent meal at Ial and we look forward to our next visit. Hopefully on the 28th April for the Welsh Night, once details are received. Shame you are closed over Easter during the Coleg holidays

FAQs

Yes, Iâl is a strong choice for a date night. Guests frequently praise the beautifully presented, high-quality contemporary British dishes, dimmed lighting and relaxed, modern décor (thereâs even a feature tree). Many mention attentive service, cocktails and a cosy atmosphere for special occasions. Popular options include the signature 15‑hour beef brisket, tasting-style specials and afternoon/evening menus. For the best experience, book a Friday/Saturday dinner or a quieter midweek evening and mention any special requests when you reserve.

For lively, specialist dining choose weekends, Friday/Saturday evenings or Sunday lunch (popular for roasts). If you prefer a quieter visit, midweek lunches (Wednesday–Thursday) are often calmer and still offer excellent value with the set lunch. For a fun social option, bottomless brunches are popular; for a special, try themed nights or student takeover evenings but allow extra time for service.

Portions focus on quality and presentation rather than large plates, guests frequently note refined, well‑crafted portions. Many praise flavour and value, especially for set lunch, Sunday roast and tasting-style dishes, while a few guests mentioned smaller portions (some mains and sides) or that a side order was needed. If you prefer a heartier meal, consider the set lunch, Sunday roast or adding sides; staff are happy to advise when you book or on arrival.

Family-friendly seating: yes, families, groups and birthdays are commonly hosted and there are childrenâs menus and set‑price kidsâ options. Accessible seating: not explicitly stated in the available information, so call ahead to check specific needs (mobility access or space requirements). The team are described as welcoming and happy to help with arrangements.

Iâl offers standard dining tables in a modern, relaxed dining room (guests note a prominent tree and window tables). Thereâs no indication of private dining rooms or hired party rooms, the restaurant-provided info lists private parties as not available. If you need a particular table or a larger group layout, call ahead and the team will advise on seating and availability.

Warm, modern and relaxed, guests repeatedly describe a stylish, light dining room with acoustic or mellow background music, dimmed lighting and a welcoming vibe. Many praise the atmosphere for special occasions, brunches and Sunday lunches. A few guests mentioned louder music on occasion or a busy buzzy environment during peak times, so if you prefer very quiet dining ask for a quieter table or an earlier/later booking.

Business casual is the recommended dress code. Guests commonly visit for special occasions, brunches and Sunday lunches and tend to dress smart‑casual. If you have a themed event or celebration, you can mention this when booking and staff are accommodating.

Yes, guests frequently describe staff as accommodating and helpful with requests, allergies and celebrations. Because menus rotate and some days are student events or themed nights, call ahead to confirm menu choices, dietary needs, seating preferences or celebratory touches. Mention special dietary requirements or requests when booking so the kitchen and service team can prepare.

Busiest: weekend services, Sunday lunch (popular roast) and Friday/Saturday evenings (dinner, bottomless brunch Saturdays) draw the most guests. Quietest: midweek lunches (Wednesday–Thursday) tend to be calmer and are recommended for a more relaxed pace. If you prefer lively dining pick weekends; for a quieter experience choose a midweek lunch or an earlier dinner slot.

A formal waiting‑list isnât mentioned, but the restaurant gets busy, especially for Sunday lunch, bottomless brunch and weekend evenings, so booking is strongly recommended. Guests report the restaurant fills up and advise reserving in advance; if you arrive without a booking staff have been accommodating but may need to manage wait times.

Yes, families dine here regularly and guests celebrate birthdays and family meals at Iâl. The restaurant offers children's menus (Children's Summer Menu, Children's Christmas Menu) and set lunch options, and many guests praise the welcoming student staff who are attentive to families. For younger children consider checking the day's menu and booking a suitable time (earlier service or a quieter lunch) to ensure menu options you want are available.

It depends on your plan: for a classic experience head on Sunday for the popular roast; for a lively social brunch choose the bottomless brunch (weekend); for a quieter, relaxed visit pick a midweek lunch (Wed–Thu) when the restaurant is typically less busy but still serving the set lunch. For special evening dining try Friday or Saturday when the full dinner menu and weekly specials are available.

Hours and openings can vary, the restaurant runs special menus (Christmas menus are published) and also closes occasionally for college holidays (one guest noted closure over Easter). Because Iâl collaborates with Coleg Cambria and runs themed or student events, itâs best to check the website or call ahead before public holidays to confirm opening times and any special menus.
