About this restaurant

  • Great for brunch
  • Charming
  • Neighborhood gem

Ida Claire is a funky, southern influenced restaurant & bar open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is notched up southern but has influences from different regions. You’ll most likely see dishes you’ve heard of before but with little twists here and there.

Our sandwiches will be served on biscuits & we’ll have chicken & waffles on every menu. Brunch is obviously southern & will be a big part of what we do. The drinks are takes on classics like the Mint Julep but revved up & including a lot of house made ingredients.

It has been a while since we last visited this restaurant. The food was good, showing steady improvement from our previous experience. There is nothing particularly out of the ordinary about the restaurant, but both the food and service are consistent. They offer something for everyone, which makes it a solid choice. No big wow factor, just a reliably experience.

Brandon was our server. He was excellent. He was very attentive, friendly, knowledgable, and funny. He made our experience all the better. The food was yummy but the AC was not working too well. However, we were comfortable enough. We will go back and likely ask for Brandon.

Salmon was a tiny portion, cold and flavorless. Unlike any other time I’ve eaten there. Everything else on the menu is great!
Ida Claire - San AntonioResponded on June 6, 2026
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m glad to hear the service and overall experience have been strong in the past, but I’m very sorry the salmon did not meet expectations during this visit. Receiving a dish that is cold, under-portioned, and lacking flavor is not acceptable, and it does not reflect our standards. Consistency is extremely important, especially for returning guests, and it’s clear we missed the mark here. Your feedback has been shared with our kitchen team so we can address execution, portioning, and quality control. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and hope to provide a much improved experience on your next visit.
