About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for groups
Since I was 13 years old, I've been in the restaurant industry. I started in my grandfather’s restaurant & worked my way up to running one of the most successful restaurants in NYC - Patsy’s Italian Restaurant. My grandfather worked his way up in the restaurant industry in the 1930's and '40s and in 1942 opened his first Italian restaurant, The Sorrento. When it came time to name our new restaurant, we decided on IL Sorrento in honor of my grandfather. I know my grandparents & my mom are smiling down on us with approval. I've lived in Westchester since 1984 & have always dreamed about opening an Italian restaurant here .. now the dream is a reality. My family & I believe that having a successful restaurant is a simple formula - give people what they want: Good Food, Good Service and Good Value. At IL Sorrento, we are embracing old world charm of Southern Italy & bringing it to Westchester County. Our hope is that you will enjoy being at IL Sorrento as much as we will enjoy serving you

What a lovely dinner we had last evening. Our server, Diego was the best. He never rushed us as we were there for three hours. His recommendations were perfect. We all shared appetizers, then a pasta course, dinner entrees and dessert. Highly recommend the beet salad, gnocchi, chicken martini, fish special, and the desserts were to die for. Also, they have a very extensive wine list! Great Italian restaurant with an amazing staff! Will be back again and again.

You wouldn't expect such a good restaurant to be tucked away in a strip mall in Scarsdale on Central Avenue but I am so glad to have discovered it. The food is great and the service is totally attentive without being annoying. I would totally recommend it.

I made a last-minute reservation at Il Sorrento for my mom’s birthday after our original dinner plans changed, and honestly, it turned out to be the perfect choice. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, elegant, and inviting—exactly what we were hoping for on a special occasion. The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish beautifully prepared and full of flavor. What truly stood out, though, was the service. Ronnie was exceptional—attentive, professional, and genuinely made us feel welcomed and taken care of throughout the evening. You can tell when a restaurant takes pride not only in its food, but also in the experience they create for their guests. A heartfelt thank you to Ronnie and the entire staff for making my mom’s birthday dinner so memorable. We had a wonderful time, and I will definitely be coming back again!

IL Sorrento is solid Italian restaurant if you’re craving some good Italian food. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a lively atmosphere. The complimentary small charcuterie plate with bread was such a a wonderful treat. The grilled octopus and baked clams oreganata appetizers were good but I prefer my octopus to more grilled which would give it a better texture and smokiness. This one was tender but was lacking some flavor. For the entrees, my husband and I got the linguini frutti de mare (sub with fra diavolo sauce) and squid ink linguini. Both were delicious and the sauces were lighter than most Italian restaurants. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Overall, I enjoyed my meal but would probably order different appetizers next time.

We were a party of 8 & all of us enjoyed our meals. We had 4 appetizers, 2 salads, a variety of entrees & at least 4 desserts & coffees. We thought the quality of the food was worth the prices charged. Service was attentive but not overbearing. The music was too loud & we asked for the volume to be turned down which our waiter handled for us. All in all it was a good experience & we'll be back.

FAQs

Yes, IL Sorrento is frequently recommended for date nights. Guests praise the elegant yet warm dining room, attentive service, creative cocktails and a thoughtful wine list that give it a Manhattan-style, romantic vibe. Expect an energetic, polished atmosphere (it can be lively when busy), white-tablecloth touches and dishes like handmade pastas, seafood and steaks that make for a special evening. For a quieter table ask for a spot away from the bar or opt for a weekday or early dinner.

Portions are generally generous and good value. Many guests mention hearty, well‑portioned entrees (short ribs, pastas, chops and seafood) and shareable appetizers like arancini and baked clams. A few guests noted smaller portions on particular dishes or appetizers, but the overall consensus is satisfying portions that often provide leftovers.

Yes, the staff and owners are described as accommodating. Guests report the team happily handled birthday cakes, allergy questions and seating requests, and managers often check on tables. For large parties, dietary needs or celebration touches, call ahead and the restaurant will usually arrange them.

For a relaxed visit pick a weekday (Tue–Thu) or weekday lunch; guests note these times are less crowded and allow a more leisurely meal. If you want the full lively scene and celebration energy, Friday or Saturday evenings are popular but busy, reserve ahead.

Yes, families dine regularly and guests celebrate birthdays with children. While there isn’t a formal kids’ menu widely advertised, staff have accommodated children (examples include tenders and fries) and the atmosphere is welcoming to family meals. For younger kids consider an earlier seating and mention needs when you reserve.

Family-friendly seating: yes. Guests frequently bring kids, celebrate birthdays and report the staff is accommodating to families. Seating options include booths, a main dining room, a bar area and an outdoor patio. Accessibility: reports are mixed, one guest noted limited curb cuts/handicap access from the lot, so if accessible entry or mobility accommodations are essential, call ahead so staff can advise and arrange seating.

Busiest: Friday and Saturday evenings, holiday nights (Christmas Eve/Day and Valentine’s events), and restaurant‑week times. Quietest: weekday lunches and early weeknight dinners when the dining room is calmer and service feels more relaxed. If you want a low-noise table, book a weekday lunch or early weekday dinner.

IL Sorrento is family-run; the owner story references the founder’s grandfather (The Sorrento) and the current team. Guests and staff mention owners Nick and Frank circulating in the dining room and warmly greeting guests. The owners emphasize old‑world Southern Italy hospitality.

IL Sorrento serves lunch and dinner on a regular weekly schedule. Lunch is Tue–Sat, 12:00 PM–3:00 PM. Dinner hours are Mon–Thu 5:00 PM–9:30 PM and Fri–Sat 5:00 PM–10:00 PM. Sunday service is 1:00 PM–9:00 PM. If you’re planning a holiday meal or special event, call ahead as hours can vary.

Warm, polished and lively, IL Sorrento blends NYC-style polish with a cozy, Southern‑Italy feel. Guests praise the tasteful renovation, modern decor and friendly staff that create an inviting energy. When busy the room can get noisy and energetic (great for celebrations), but many diners still find table conversation comfortable; ask for a quieter spot if you prefer low noise.

Yes, guests report dining at IL Sorrento on major holidays (Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) and the team has handled holiday meals and celebrations. Holiday hours may differ, so call ahead to confirm and reserve for special dates.

There’s no evidence of a formal online waiting list in the available info, but the restaurant does get very busy and guests sometimes wait for seating even with reservations. Reservations are recommended for weekends and holidays; if you arrive early or during peak times you may encounter a short wait.

Yes, guests mention dining outdoors and enjoying a patio area. Outdoor seating is used by guests who prefer a quieter table or al fresco dining when weather permits; call ahead to request patio seating.

For a quieter experience, try weekday lunch or an early weeknight seating, guests report calmer, more relaxed service and fewer crowds. Friday and Saturday evenings, holidays and restaurant-week events are busiest; expect a lively, packed dining room then. Reservations are highly recommended for peak times.

Smart casual. The owner lists the dress code as smart casual, and guests typically dine in neat, polished casual attire, comfortable but put-together. For special occasions many diners dress a bit more formally.
