We had a reservation for brunch but had to wait about 10 minutes which wasn’t bad. The place is small so the wait is understandable. We got there at the right time because there’s only two chairs for waiting, and another couple and a 3-top showed up after us so they had to stand outside. But staff was very friendly and the food was good and decently priced. It’s worth trying for sure. It was a cute atmosphere.
Food was fantastic. Service was outstanding. BYOB was a great treat as we could bring our own wine with a minimal corkage fee.
Great addition to the neighborhood! Food is delicious, service is excellent and the place is adorable. Loved the Shrimp & Grits Tamale and the Lobster & Dumplings was a taste sensation. Oh, and definitely get the pie. BYOB.
Love the casual neighborhood vibe.
Great food and people!
Jack’s is a hidden gem. Wonderful comfort food and every item (of many we tried) was delicious. Sandy our server was great and so was her desserts which she bakes. Can’t wait to go back!
Great food. Wonderful waitress. Everyone in our group ready to come back. Oh, Dessert was even better than dinner. The Strawberry shout cake on blue berry biscuits was out of this world. One guest said best dissertation on n Dallas
Happy to have another independent restaurant in the neighborhood. Server (sister of the chef) was very helpful, friendly and informed about the menu. The pie at the end of the meal was worth saving some room for. Ambiance was cozy and homey and although the dining was full the night we were there we were able to have a conversation.
Went to Jack’s for my birthday today. Service was excellent and the food was so so good too. I really appreciated how they accommodated the big group of us. They got all of our food right and we ALL enjoyed it and plan to go back. Thank you for a wonderful birthday brunch <3
Everything was wonderful! Laurel is always a delight, and of course her recommendations were spot-on. We might have never ventured to the chocolate biscuits and gravy, but are so glad we did. Lobster and dumplings were amazing, as was the green chile chicken (and we even had a native New Mexican in our bunch giving it it a thumbs up!)
Small and very friendly owner greeted everyone! The service was good it was byob and no fee to uncork the wine.
I was so excited about eating here especially after reading the reviews. The menu is limited but that is okay. The selections are based on comfort food and are filling (think biscuits and gravy.) My meal was good but was not hot and could have been tastier if not just warm. The restaurant is next to an exercise studio so you end up vibrating with whatever is being played. Its all good, but I found the service to not be warm or welcoming. Not sure if it was a late night but I felt I was intruding, strange feeling for a restaurant. The exercisers from next door came into a reserved table about 15, thus limiting space for other patrons. The choice came down to sitting up high bar type tables. I hope they continue to improve because I see the potential.
Had th chicken pot pie, shrimp tamale with chorizo and desserts. Everything was fantastic. Service was friendly and quick. Remember to bring your own wine!
Love the setting and ambiance. And love the menu and food.
The food was good but the service was terrible. It took 30 minutes to get our check and for the waiter to clear our plates.
Our new favorite neighborhood bistro. Casual, comfortable and all American cuisine beyond compare. Make a reservation. We noted the restaurant to be full on Saturday evening and folks being turned away. Don’t leave without a piece of Sandy’s homemade pie. Coconut cream is my favorite.
The food was creative and tasted good. My portion was a little small, could’ve used 2 more shrimp for the price .The other portion sizes were decent. I had to ask for more tea, otherwise the service was good.
Love this neighborhood spot! Food is always beyond delicious and having the chef stop by your table is a perk that you rarely get when dining. We try not to eat desserts but the pies at Jacks are worth the splurge. Prices and BYOB make this a value! Only wish is the lady servers could get a ‘feel’ for allowing guests to pace their dinner. Over anxious to take the entree order and makes one feel rushed. No need to since kitchen turns food out efficiently and there’s space to spare. I know they are just eager to provide excellent service but we were interrupted a few times while having our apps and wine. Read your guests and you’ll know when we are ready to order. Keep up the great work Jack’s!
love the true comfort food. service always friendly, informative and spot on.
Fresh interior. Interesting variety of very attentive staff. Had dinner. Look forward to trying brunch and lunch. Delicious food. Cajun southern flair combo. BYOB A PLUS. We will be back soon
Always delicious food! Desserts are terrific! Plus, BYOB with no corkage charges. One of our favorite local spots.
We went for Sunday brunch, and the tiny restaurant was packed. The food was excellent, and the decor is clean and modern, but the experience left something to be desired. We had a reservation for our table for two, but we still waited about 30 minutes for a table. We experienced several people who had trouble getting initial service and their checks in a timely manner. The servers and host seemed harried and majorly stressed out. Nothing huge in terms of complaints, but I'm thinking with time the staff will work out the logistics/efficiency kinks and it will be a 5 star brunch spot!
We wanted to try some of the newer menu items since Jack has added to it since our last visit. And wow...just wow. I had the green chile chicken and I practically drank the sauce it was so good. I cannot wait to go back to try the smoked chicken risotto which is new too. We brought our own wine which is such a nice touch. And everyone at our table LOVED the strawberry shortcake. I'm dairy-free, so I had to pass; but it looked amazing and I believe some of the fruit pies might be vegan. Just check with Jack's sister (Sandy)...she has special made dairy-free pies for me if I tell her I'm coming in ahead of time. It's just the best place ever.
This was a wonderful experience! Excellent food, excellent service.
Scrumptious Southern home cooking comfort food, from fried green tomatoes to fried chicken, in a wonderfully friendly, hospitable, laid back atmosphere. BYOB. Very enjoyable casual dining.
Celebrated 2 birthdays we had fun
Jacks Kitchen is a small, cozy neighborhood restaurant. The food was delicious, plus you can bring your own bottle of wine which is a big plus for us. Our experience was wonderful and look forward to go back in the near future. The menus changes which is something to look forward to so the food does not become boring and predictable. Great place
Excellent brunch! The food was amazing! Try the tomato gravy with pork belly biscuit with a fried egg- wow! Thank you!
Amazing service in a relaxed setting. Food is always superb. Southern flair with freshness and flavor!! Sandy’s pies are over the top.
The food was FABULOUS and so was the service. The Truffle Mac and Cheese and the Lobster Dumplings were outstanding. Cozy restaurant with a nice decor. Upscale food with a down home feel. Try the Jacks plate it was yummy. Will be back.
Excellent Southern cuisine in an intimate setting. Friendly service. Very enjoyable dinner.
Great neighborhood spot; warm and inviting staff; delicious food. I will be going back so I can try everything on the menu
Great neighborhood restaurant. Food was excellent.
Fried chicken and collard greens were excellent. Chocolate biscuit tiramisu was fabulous.
This was my 2nd visit for brunch and everything was great once again. Jack came out to check on people once it slowed down a bit. Sandy was busy but still helpful and eager to please. The guy at the front desk was calm and helpful amid the chaos of so many people wanting a table. I fear that it will soon be impossible to get a table here at all because it is SUCH a great restaurant.
I had the brisket and sweet potato hash. It was wonderful. The mimosas were wonderful as well. Everything was wonderful!
Jack's Kitchen is a neighborhood gem! Great takes on authentic southern food. Great team always welcoming. Scott the owner/chef has hit upon the great combination of food/team/environment and the best value by far on this quality of food. It's gotten so popular, that OpenTable is the best way to insure a seat - be prepared to wait a bit on Sunday morning - nice thing is that it opens at 10:00 am on Sundays for brunch! Everything is good. It's BYOB so bring and enjoy your preferred beverage.
I’m hesitant to write this because this place should have a 2 hour wait and it doesn’t. Yet😪
This was my 3rd visit to Jack's. Food is very good and I like casual atmosphere. Very happy this restaurant is in my neighborhood. Also love that it is byob.
We went for dinner and our server, Lorelle, was excellent and very knowledgeable about the menu items. The food was very flavorful and cooked perfectly and the portions were very generous. Will definitely go back. Can’t wait to try Sunday brunch as the menu looked awesome!
Food is consistently excellent; menu is very creative; staff is uber-friendly. I introduce this restaurant to others as often as possible.
