Patatas bravas that will rock your world! Be sure to also get the croquettes. The food is so delicious there and the service is top-notch! Plus the owner is a great guy, need to support people who do the right thing.
A fiend and I shared two three-course meals. We enjoyed a wide variety of foods, all perfectly prepared, distinctive, flavorful, amply portioned, and brought to us by an attentive, thoroughly professional server who apparently paid attention to our table and knew the exact perfect moment to clear the table and serve new dishes. In the best of times it must be hard to find and retain expert chefs and wait staffs. That is an even more formidable challenge in the pandemic era. But Jaleo certainly knows how. A superb dining experience!
Great location, great food and service (Ricardo was excellent), but it was pretty busy and slightly crowded - book early and watch out for events at the Capital One Arena.
So unfussy, it's easy to overlook how good everything is. Relaxed, fun, delicious.
We love the prix fixe lunch at Jaleo's! It's our go-to meal following a matinee at the Shakespeare Theatre. The selection is great, with just enough choices to satisfy every yen, be it salad or soup, spinach or potatoes, shrimp or chicken or something vegan. Everything is perfectly prepared, yet the portions are modest enough so that even those with the most meager appetites can manage. It's a lot like a tasting menu, and just right for the middle of the afternoon. I prefer one of the house wines to the sangria, which I find too sweet, but that's a personal choice. I highly recommend this.
Plenty of outdoor tables and the lunch specials are wonderful.
The Paella was just okay. I would not order it again. It was bland and the shrimp was overcooked.
Fun and nice vibes . Great sangria
Great food and service
Jaleo is always a wonderful place to eat and our recent lunch there was no exception. The service was attentive without being disruptive and the food was delicious. I particularly liked the cod and potato fritters, which I hadn’t had before. We ate outside, which made it a bit louder due to traffic, but the outdoor space was nice.
Our dinner was excellent, every dish was delicious and the wait staff were helpful when we asked for recommendations as well as bringing out our plates in a steady succession so we had time to enjoy each one.
As always the food was outstanding. Our only complaint was the staff seemed to try to rush us through dinner - and asked if we wanted our check before we'd even gotten our last two tapas. Otherwise fantastic and we love supporting Jose Andres and all his other great philanthropic work around the world.
Fantastic. Maybe best retaurant meal I've ever had. Went with the experience tasting menu; it went from 'maybe this won't be enough' to 'that was nice' to 'oh man I don't think i can finish', but it was all so good I devoured it.
The service was more than excellent, it was expensive but worth every penny, Only downside was being seated near maybe the loudest woman on the face of the planet. Dessert was ridiculously tasty and drowned her out, so all good.
One of the best dining experiences we ever had! The food was complex, flavorful and just simply amazing. Our server was top notch explaining all the food and pairings in detail. Thank you!
The food was amazing! So many delicious options! The service was not good. I understand that places are understaffed, but if you don’t have the severs, don’t fill all of the tables. Plates were just quickly put on our table with a muttering of what they were. Two dishes were not ours, and we never got one dish that we did order. Our waiter agreed to take our non ordered items off the bill but never did. We felt rushed to leave so just paid and left. It’s a shame because the food truly is outstanding.
This place is wonderful! All the servers are excellent, the food is amazing, and the wines even more so.
Delicious food and impeccable service.
Loved sampling the variety of Tapas. All great choices. Dessert was awesome also
Little loud , turn down the music..the tables were a little close too,. The food was great.
Food- very good tapas. We had
Bacalao- delicious with yummy fish flavor, perfectly fried
Gambas w garlic- nicely cooked great sauce. Perfect with the crunchy bread
Squid with black ink- ok not super favorable 2 small with rice
Pequillo peppers w goat cheese - tasty with med goat cheese flavor
Drinks were tasty. Did not have the sangria or paella as paella was for 4 people. Also takes 45 min plus to cook
Covid protocols- all staff was masked. Website states that all guests must be fully vaccinated. When we entered there were no signs stating this and when I asked waitstaff if they wanted to see my vaccination card she sort of dismissed it, said ‘vaccinated yeah, good’ but didn’t bother looking.
This did color our experience. If you’re going to state that vaccinations are required then honor this. If not, then remove this from the website so I can make my decision to dine or not based on what the actual protocol is.
This was our second time visiting Jaleo and it was just as wonderful as we remembered. We haven’t been able to travel or explore due to COVID and a great meal out was just what we needed! We will always come back when we are able!
In town for my 40th birthday with my best friend and we had an excellent time at Jaleo for dinner! Totally recommend this spot for the ambiance, service and delicious food.
Wonderful food, service and setting. Dinner with a dear friend could not have been better. Thank you.
Awesome restaurant overall. There was a delay in serving our last tapas selection so that kind of put the breaks on our experience. Otherwise all good.
Great experience. Menu thoughtfully curated and carefully prepared but not fussy. Lively but still relaxed ambiance. A hit of Spain. Sat on bar level and server was terrific- spot on with recommendations.
We took advantage of the Sangria Hour all day on Tuesday. We had their excellent sangria and tried each of the tapas on the Sangria Hour menu. Great taste and value.
As always Jaleo does it well. We had some lag time on our tapas but overall, good experience.
Great meal from beginning to end. Flavors, presentation and timing all spot on. Our favorite server from our entire trip to DC and New York City, Nick, was warm, knowledgeable and made our evening. We would return in a heartbeat.
Missed chicken paella as it was special Paella week..overall , great evening, food .
Really good food and service. Definitely a must visit when in DC!
Overrated and touristy. Much better Tapas restaurants in other parts of DC
Fantastic dinner and service! There was a great selection of menu items and the wine list was reasonable and diverse. Overall, a wonderful experience. We will be back again soon.
Fantastic as usual! We're so lucky to have Chef Jose Andres' restaurants close enough to visit whenever we want. Every bite was exceptional. Service was great.
Excellent cuisine, Spanish tapas were delicious and the service 10/10
Not surprisingly, everything went well at Jaleo. They were nice enough to seat us before our last companion arrived. Our server explained the menu to those unfamiliar with it. They were out of the Spanish cider and something else. The pan con tomate and the cheese board were tasty and generous. The lamb paella was different and tasty because one of us could not eat shellfish. The wine and gin-tonic flights were tasty and surprisingly reasonable--I would have ordered a 2nd wine flight if my friend had not offered me a gin-tonic. Everyone liked their desserts--flan, chocoloate mousse, and my grapefruit "texturas" (basically sorbet with slices in it) was remarkable. The coffee was disappointing so the server comped me an espresso. They did not rush us at all, and we were there LONG.
Great waiter! Food was delicious but pretty pricey.
Food was great (as usual). Ditto on value for money. Only real disappointment was the fact that we chose to eat indoors as their website (and open table) indicated they were requiring proof of covid vax to do so. However, no one ever asked to see our proof.
We've heard raves about this place and decided to go all out and do Jose's tasting menu. There had to be at least 10 courses...waaay too much food and we hated wasting it. On the other hand, not one dish was exceptional. They were often interesting, but seldom delicious. We ate at Zintanya the nite before and EVERY dish (5 or 6) was interesting and delicious.
The food was amazing!
I tried the octopus salad. Boiled octopus with potatoes, Goat, tomato jam, flan…
Everything about Jaleo was amazing. The staff, the drinks, the food, the ambiance. Went for a friend's birthday dinner and I was so happy to be enjoying food that tasted like authentic Spanish cuisine from when I visited Barcelona. The paella w/ the black truffle on too was to die for! So happy we went during the Paella Festival it was a real treat!
