Went here for the first time this weekend. Is situated in a nice spot right on the water in Kingston, near some nice bars. The restaurant itself looks nice from outside. When we went in, the tables and atmosphere is pretty casual. Ok, but not somewhere I would recommend a first date. The service was slow as others have commented, but the food was pretty good. Not the best Chinese I've had but a good choice, and for £35 per head including a bottle of wine wasn't bad value. Would recommend this for a casual meal with a friend if that is what you are looking for.

The restaurant is located in a pretty little area near the river, and the inside decor is clean and tidy if lacking a bit of charm, however everything else is spot on. Lovely, friendly, helpful waitresses, interesting menu and really delicious food. It was encouraging to see we were the only non-Chinese diners that evening, and although there's plenty of familiar 'Anglo-Chinese' menu items there are lots of more authentic/adventurous options too. Our highlight from the starters were the Peking duck pancakes and the plumpest, freshest prawn dumplings. For main course we opted for a 'hot and spicy pot'which would be ample for three and allowed us to choose our own selection of 4 main ingredients from an extensive list. The sauce on this had a deeply intense flavour, with a multitude of spices that played on your tongue, and a great balance of salt, sweet, sharp and heat. They don't hold back on chillies here (the chicken with chillies is about 50% dried chillies!). There was lots on the menu I wanted to try but I couldn't manage all of it in one visit, so I will be going back at the earliest opportunity to try more!

Second visit and just as good as the first. Was a little cold in the restaurant and the carpets need a clean but other than that a decent meal.

Lovely place with great service and great food all for a very reasonable price. Went here on Valentine's day and I loved all the little romantic touches like roses and heart-shaped balloons. Very peaceful restaurant with an efficient, smiley service

We have been to JinJin a number of times for lunch with my 2yrs old son and the staff have been wonderful with him and so accommodating. I decided to go for dinner with friends for a grown up meal and was not disappointed. Really tasty food, very lovely staff and good value.

I would disagree with the last review reference the food: we thought the food was a true cut above your average Chinese. The hot spice pot is outstanding - just don't feel you have to do a man-test by eating all the Sichuan peppercorns; they're only there for flavouring and are left to one side by those in the know (the waiter, after I'd eaten them all). The only thing that lets this place down is the ambience. The owner has done a grand job of tarting the place up but, at the end of the day, it is just a posh takeaway in disguise.

In my experience, most Chinese restaurants are much of a muchness: the food is decent but generic. JinJin broadly fits this category. Actually, some of the food was a little disappointing: the crispy duck wasn't crispy and had been sliced rather than shredded, and the chicken with cashew nuts was startlingly sweet. The service, on the other hand, was very friendly, and a mix-up with the bill was dealt with swiftly (indeed, pre-emptively - the waiter spotted it) and apologetically.
