Katie's Seafood House

I love the food at this restaurant - but the service is really tragic. Maybe the girl I had was new but let’s just start with the fact that she could not count. I said we want 18 raw oysters. She responded that they sell them by the dozen. I said can we have a dozen and a half dozen. She then got our waters, came back out and was still confused within the math for our oyster order. Then we ordered a bottle of champagne. The server opened it - kind of - left the foil on it, put it on the table and never poured our drinks. She never offered for us to taste it. Just really poor service. She then brought out the rest of our food without any serving utensils and left it out there to get cold until we finally got another server to help us. Finally the server never offered us dessert or coffee - just took our plates and put a bill immediately on the table. We did not ask for a bill - we had half a bottle of champagne left and she just threw it down. Let me say there was no one in the restaurant - seriously less than 20 customers in total with several waiters working. There was no excuse for this terrible service. She needs training. These are basic requirements of any nice restaurant.

The restaurant was more than at 50% capacity. We were seated near the bar and customers would wait near our table waiting to be seated. I asked for a different table but they said they weren't able to move us.
If the place wasn't so crowded it would have been a nicer dinner.

My husband and I drive to Katie’s from Tomball, TX every so often since we love the food so much. This restaurant came highly recommended from a friend and I’m so happy we tried it!

Top notch service with Alex we have dined there 3 times now and have had Alex every visit, amazingly nice, quick and detail oriented. The food is the freshest you will get anywhere since they own their own boats and catch fresh fish every day. Looking forward to the next visit already!

Our food was average. I didn't care for the coating on the shrimp or snapper.

This restaurant has never let us down! Best seafood on the coast! The oysters and the shrimp were amazing! All the side dishes were also amazing delicious!!!

Server was amazing, food was amazing just come hungry the portions were huge lol, try the cocktails too and price was good too especially for size and freshness off the fish :) can’t wait to go back :)

I was very underwhelmed by the food. For the price and the fact that they have fresh caught fish I was expecting it to taste a lot better. I have had better seafood at chain restaurants where the seafood is not as fresh because it’s brought in. The portion size of actually seafood was also smaller than expected. Why bring me 3 small pieces of fried snapper(that equaled not even a full fillet), 3 fried shrimp on a huge platter covered with fries. It was just disappointing. The service was great and the bar was great. If I went back it would only be to drink at the bar and enjoy the atmosphere.

Delicious food and awesome service as always!!

The food was pretty good. We had the black eyed pea chowder. The shrimp quesadillas and the shrimp etoufee. Portions were very large. Presentation was nice. For me there was an overload of cheese and not enough shrimp in the quesadillas. We probably wouldn’t eat there again just because with the radio, the openness of the room, the hardwood floors and then add in the conversation at each table, it was hard to focus on our table conversations. Usually sound doesn’t bother me, but this frequency did. It’s in a neat location.

Katies has excellent service and food. Waitstaff is great and attentive and friendly. I visited Galveston for 2 weeks and dined at Katie's 3 times!

We enjoyed our time at the reasturant. The visit was our first but want be the last. We have enjoyed the seafood market for some time now. The food was fresh and delicious, well prepared and served beautifully. The location was beautiful looking out at the waterview, was great. The service was excellent from our arrival tell our departure. The menu selections were diverse and quite appealing. We are looking forward to trying all of them in the future. I would recommend this location for a great food and a great setting. Thank you.

This was our date night and also our NYE celebration. Peter C. was our server and he was absolutely perfect! The service was excellent. The food was delicious, exceeding expectations.

Excellent value for appetizers. Great entree choices. Mixed reviews on some choices, just be sure of what you want. Maybe stick to your favorite and give it a try first, or ask for a recommendation. Alex was a great server, just ask him to stay close by.

Snapper wings are always excellent. Ordered the Umami bowl. Wow! Great flavor. 3 jumbo shrimp, red snapper, snapper wing, huge huge portion! Menu is very different from the typical Galveston Island fare. Ashley our bartender/waitress was incredibly sweet and attentive. Our new favorite restaurant on the island.

Katie’s was amazing! We went two days in a row! Day one we had the dockside grilled oysters that were fantastic and a fried flounder sandwich...nothing spectacular but still good. The server, Peter I believe, was great! The next day we ordered the ceviche, so fresh and a huge portion, the chowder and a fried oyster po boy (another huge portion) and everything was so delicious! Both days we sat outside, not the best view, but still very pleasant. Service was average on the second visit, not terrible but she was probably someone who shouldn’t be in the service industry. Will definitely be back and will request to sit in Peter’s section!

Unexpectedly delicious and good value on prices.

If you love fried food with mayo and tartar sauce this is your place. It was more of a diner style restaurant than we expected.

Fish was delicious everything else disappointing. Fish cooked perfectly. Sides bland and bisque was borderline grosd

Took an international visitor for lunch.. all staff wearing Covid protective gear . Zac was a great waiter, very conscientious! Fish wrap and hamburger very good!

Butternut soup was delicious. Shrimp po'boy was very good. Would order each again.
Wife ordered fresh snapper with cherry sauce on the side. She wanted a nice "naked" broiled red snapper. Snapper was served with heavy diced garlic, rosemary and other seasonings that overpowered the mild white fish meat. The cherry sauce, herbs and seasonings were more fit for roast beef or roast pork, not a mild white meat fish. Will return to Katie's but will be exact when ordering. A case of less is more.

Yellow Edged Grouper was the Chef’s recommendation and perfectly prepared!! The steamed vegetables & potatoes were great accompaniment to the Grouper!!

Brian & I are celebrating 49 years of marriage this year. We heard Katie’s Seafood House was the best place for fresh seafood on Galveston Island. They were right! We had the best waitress- Gayle! She walked us thru the menu. We started with the Market chowder. The best chowder we have ever had! Then fantastic Grilled oysters and great crab cakes. We were so full we will be going tomorrow night for our entree😎

I had just tried this place a few days prior. I liked it enough to make a return trip to meet a friend for cocktails and appetizers a couple of days later. We sat outside and watched the goings-on of the harbor. The bam bam shrimp was good, sweet and generous. The Mexican shrimp cocktail was a healthful choice. Again a generous portion of Shrimp, avocado and tomato with a hint of Mexican seasonings. Perfect place to catch up with friends. Their fish market is just steps away. Pick up the freshest catch to take home, too!

Birthday party. The check-in was terrible. They did not check us in under open table we had to ask multiple times.

Food came out quick & hot. The server was good about recommending certain dishes.

We were just checking out a new place for us. It can easily become our go to place. It’s casual , but nice. Loads of outdoor seating. All of the staff were pleasant, friendly. The food was very good. We ordered a yummy fish po’ boy and grouper simply baked. It was all delish.

Restaurant is extremely loud. Salads & our appetizer of Shrimp Boudin Balls were excellent. Service was great. I ordered the lemon chicken & noodles & it wasn’t really edible. It looked beautiful but the sauce had a slight hint of lemon & was sweet which was a huge turnoff. My husband had the blackened grouper special and couldn’t eat it. The fried shrimp was very good. I suggest sticking to the fried seafood offerings which they do very well.

Food was fantastic and we all had different entrees. Alexander, our waiter, was very personable and went out of his way to ensure our birthday celebration was special.

Definitely the place for seafood on Galveston island. Really good service and the food was impeccable. We’ll be back.
