The food was excellent and the staff were friendly. Prices were reasonable. One of the best onion soups I had in a while.

The host first asked how many, but then asked if we had reservations. If reservations were needed why entertain the idea of seating us? It felt disingenuous. We asked to change tables to avoid feeling the draft from the door and he was visibly annoyed. The appetizer and entree were good but the dessert was not good. We ordered an apple crumble but what came out was doughy. The servers were nice and the prices were reasonable.

Brought my mother here for a Sunday night birthday dinner. The staff consisted of one young seemingly inexperienced waiter, the bartender, and a busser. No manager in sight throughout our entire meal. Despite being relatively empty, it took about 40 minutes for the waiter to take our order and an hour just for bread to arrive to the table. Our entrees arrived before apps were cleared from the table. And we weren't even provided steak knives for our steak. We made the waiter aware of these issues on two occasions. He offered to comp a dessert. But there did not appear to be a manager present in the restaurant to receive our feedback or adjust the bill appropriately. It was a very unpleasant experience.

Francesco, thank you for dining with us last night. I am truly sorry that you didn't enjoy your experience, please accept my sincere apologies. We were 3/4 full and I am sorry that Drew (one of my #1 waiter) took a bit longer to bring you bread, definitely not 40min. Your well burger took long as well because of the temperature. My Manager Will comped it since you mentioned it was too well, and offered a dessert. Again, steak knifes should have been given and I am very sorry. Best, Damien

Wonderful ambiance in this cozy neighborhood restaurant. A menu that includes Alsatian specialities like spaetzle and tartes flambées, and standards like a great burger and beautiful roast chicken as well. The fireplace adds to the coziness in winter, and the bar is congenial whether you’re in your own or with a friend. Great addition recently is a terrific jazz combo on Saturday evenings.

Mussels marinieres were terrible with strong bitter taste. French fries were overcooked. All the dishes came cold. A disappointment ...

Good afternoon BlueHillBees, thank you for your review. I am sorry you did not enjoy your experience with us at La Cigogne. I will definitely pay more attention to pricing & mediocre food. I will also strap every kids to their chairs from now on and prevent them from making any noise. After all, Carrol Garden is a wonderful community with lots of family. Again, I'm sorry if we couldn't perform well enough during your visit. Best regards, Damien

The best steak in the neighborhood, hands down. And with it's fireplace roaring, such a cozy spot for a winter evening meal. I don't love the giant TV at the bar, but you can sit out of range from it. Otherwise, really delicious food, friendly and attentive staff, nice and reasonable wine list. My idea of a great neighborhood restaurant.
