Lake House - Lake Bluff
There was live music, we came in for the prime rib special and to celebrate a birthday. Waitstaff was attentive. Food was great. Dessert was amazing. Overall a great experience.
We went for New Years Eve package deal. We were seated at 8pm and the owner accomodated us so we could be by the music - the X-tet was great! There were no vegetarian options and they ran out of Prime Rib. There was some confusion about the menu as the server kept having to clarify what we would get that was not reflective of the package menu. In the end she begrudgingly gave us what we wanted but it was a struggle. The food was good and the serving sizes were nice. We were there until about 10pm and the place was pretty empty. The package included a midnight champagne toast - though the server said they closed at 10 and we'd have to go to the bar to wait for midnight. Kind of confusing. The price was good $90/couple but I don't think I'd go again. Would like to try the place for a less special event. I bet their Bears Game events are fun.
Great place for a team meal, fun and very tasty. Great beer selection, on tap and in bottles.
Well prepared lunch buffet at a reasonable price. Plenty of parking and conveniently located.
After spending some time online trying to find a great eatery in the area, I booked a table at Lake House. We were so impressed with the overall service that we went again the next night! Our food was delicious and served timely by our exceptional server Ms. Anne. We were kind of a large group at 10 and they were very accommodating. The owner was friendly and provided us with personal service and great conversation. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend The Lake House!
Just awful. Dirty, dated, disgusting food and salad bar. Will never go back.
One of our go to places, but disappointed that Friday night piano player wasn’t there. They said they don’t have after Thanksgiving, but that seems like a time there should be live music. It was also fairly busy that night, so I think it would have been worth the restaurant’s cost.
For Thanksgiving, there was lots of confusion. The tables wee too close together and the service very slow. No
one explained how the food was set up.
So, we missed the better slices of turkey.
What I’m most upset about is that I brought my sailor in for a nice thanksgiving dinner. When we entered not one person acknowledged my sailor-not even a hello! I was so disappointed with the lack of salutations. Then it got worse. We finally were seated at a table that wobbled, when the server finally came he didn’t ask us anything didn’t explain about the buffet,or even the menus. But worst of all, not even acknowledgment for the sailor that we were with! I realize that you must see a lot of them because your establishment is close to the base, but everyone there has forgotten that these men and women are our HEROS! So how about your employees there start acknowledging them and any other military person that walks through the door. It doesn’t matter what day it was... just being courteous and acknowledgment is worth so much to all of our military family!! Remember THEY GOT YOUR BACK!
So disappointed in your lack of respect for the military 😡 I will not recommend this establishment to any of my military family .
We had Thanksgiving reservations with our newly graduated sailor. We wanted to eat several hours before our reservation and the set us up without a blink. Food was great, service was wonderful! Thank you for making this occasion fantastic for us!
After going for Thanksgiving dinner a couple of times, will not go back again. Turkey was slightly dry, food trays were sloppy, had a terrible table, and no cranberry sauce. They were pawning off cranberry juice as sauce. On the better side, the server was very attentive and provided good service. This restaurant is generally good but would not recommend for holiday feast.
The Thanksgiving buffet was missing a hot, green veggie dish. Really! I mean really it was Thanksgiving! The food was marginal at best. The decor reminded me of an old 70's joint, and was looking for the disco ball that was missing thankfully . The cost of the buffet was well out of line with what was offered including quality. Only one desert was offered! Again, really! We were there visiting our son who is at Navy boot camp. We will not step foot in there when we return for my son's graduation Dec 7. It was just one huge turnoff.
The server was curt, did not interact, did not come to the table or ask if we needed anything. Steaks were over charred, my order was incomplete, after asking where the merlot sauce, blue cheese, and mushrooms were all I got were the mushrooms. There were only 3 tables in use. Don't understand this as it's such a high rated restaurant.
My sons and I were celebrating my youngest son’s graduation from Navy boot camp and both of them wanted steak. I selected the Lake House. Both of my sons were floored by the price of the steaks so they ordered pasta dinners. Both of them were disappointed with their dishes and very glad that they didn’t order steaks. We all wished that we had chosen a different restaurant that evening. Ambiance was nice, service was lackluster. All in all, the experience was disappointing.
the fish fry, Northern Pike is delicious. on Fridays. we brought 2 couples with us who have never been there and they all said we'll be back. I think the waitress was a little new so the service was not up to par. we for sure will be back. love the little salad bar, just enough variety.
Food and service was outstanding. My wife and I had their famous breasted chicken dinner and totally understand why people wave about it. Also had their salad/soup bar which is delicious, bountiful and well worth the price.
We were seated in a very nicely located table and the hostess remembered that she had sat us in a less desirable location last week and asked if this table would be satisfactory. One smart and aware representative of the restaurant. Waitress was personable and very attentive to our needs. We will be back.
Sunday brunch is outstanding. Love the endless mimosas, custom omelets, and delicious Belgian waffles. $19.95 per person is an excellent value. This is my new brunch spot.
Lake House is a wonderful restaurant with good food and an attentive staff. Their live jazz music on Saturday night adds to your special experience. Would make trip from Chicago to experience their hospitality again.
Food was awful! I honestly surprised how this place has been called restaurant. Bar maybe. But food was awful. Salad bar is a joke. Fish fry? They have no idea what fish fry is. Poor people who eats it. They don’t know any better. Good location with potentials. Hire a good chef
Had the skirt steak dinner and my husband had the walleye. Everything was spot on and delicious.
The food was excellent, the service was warm and friendly, just wish we were not on our way to a concert and could’ve had a chance to stay for the music… Will definitely visit again
We waited to be seated for about 5 minutes after the hostess stop texting on her phone, when seated our waiter seemed disinterested in serving us and only came to our table maybe twice. Food was ok wish the experience was better.
We went Saturday night for my husband's birthday and had a most enjoyable time! They had a very good jazzie kind of band that was playing which made for a nice ambiance. Service started out rather slow but got better. Food was very good! I had the fried shrimp which was excellent. Hubby had horseradish encrusted prime rib which he loved and my boys had lobster fettucine. Also very good. My only complaint is that we were seated in a booth near the door and the band. If it had been colder out, that booth would have been too cold to sit at with a big draft. Sitting close to the band wasn't terrible but it was a bit loud. I thought that with a reservation, we would have had a more prime spot. I guess I could have requested another table before they seated us. There were other tables open. All in all, we had a very nice meal and a very nice time.
Restaurant side is like a fine dining restaurant and is really nice. The bar which is connected was not very nice at all. If you are into video gaming and close tables, then you'll be fine. I would never book a reservation again in the bar, but I didn't know it was like that since the other side is so nice. Also....the vegetables that come with the entrees - carrots and broccoli specifically are not cooked which I fine odd. I always forget about that and every time i've ordered an entree they were not cooked, so it wasn't just one time. The fish is really tasty, but if I'm paying $30 for an entrée, I would expect the sides to be better.
I've been to this place at least 4 times, I'm not sure I would go back.
A great place with variety and a great service.
Went there for Walleye Fis Fry. Very good. All you can eat, so you don't go away hungry!
The breasted chicken is fantastic. A must have.
One of our go to places. Love the live music on Saturday nights. Food is good and priced reasonably.
Wonderful as usual! My friend and I each tried two new dishes that we hadn’t tried before. Both were very good.
Love this place, has a sports bar attached If you want to watch the games. But the restaurant is very quiet with a piano player for brunch. Great value, I go there all the time to watch the Cowboys....
One of our go to places. Salad bar is a deal and drinks are very reasonable. Love the live music on Saturday nights, but wish they played longer!
Never disappoints. When our family or the kids are in town we always take them to the Lakehouse. Always a great meal and great time.
Great food! Our server went above and beyond for us!
As usual the service from Diane was great and the Prime Rib was wonderful. The homemade soup and salad bar is a good way to start the meal.
I was disappointed that the Sea Bass special was not available but substituted the salmon and it was delicious. The portion size was big so I had some leftover for the next day. Our server was very attentive and kind. The creamy garlic dressing from the salad bar was amazing. I would come back just for that!
We wanted to have a meal prior to our son leaving for college and we chose the Lake House for this. We have had takeout from here before and it has been good.
I think the most disappointing this was they got my wife's order wrong, but instead of replacing it they wanted to see if she was OK with it. We kept it - it is easier in those circumstances. My son also ordered a pizza thinking it was an individual sized serving, but he got a whole one instead. It would have been useful if he had been told before-hand that his order did not come in one of the individual sizes.
Anyway, I'm sure we'll get takeout from here again, just not sure the whole family will sit down for a meal.
I went with a group of 13 for a Retired Staff Luncheon for my school. 6 weeks ago, they put us in the back room, where there were fewer guests and easier for us to move around. This time we were smack in the center of the restaurant. I am
Great value, salad and soup bar with minimal additional cost.
