What Insiders Are Saying
For your next special occasion/fancy night out dinner in SoHo, consider the French fine dining at Le Coucou.
One of the better experiences we have had at a restaurant! Meal and service far exceeded our expectations, everything was superb!
We were first given a table right by the front door in front of the check in booth. When we asked for something better, we got a nicer table but noticed there were quite a few open tables much nicer than the original. Our server asked us if we had ever been there and when we said no she asked why we came. We replied that we had heard good things about the restaurant. Her reply...”Well I guess you have to eat somewhere”. The attitude continued throughout the meal. The two nights prior we had eaten at Daniel and TAK Room...both excellent experiences. Le CouCou was a major disappointment.
indifferent service. not great wine by the glass selection. food ok. needs some love. no buzz.
2nd time at Le CouCou. 1st for weekday lunch. Splendid. Quenelle topped with caviar was a magnificent beginning. The sauce was delicious and plentiful. Sliced beef with summer vegetables was perfectly cooked. Enough to take home with some of the very good bread. Paris-brest was least favorite of our desserts. Lemon tart and chocolate espresso cake were devoured. Already looking forward to returning in September.
Excellent Parisian class French food. Beautifully prepared and presented without the over the top flourishes which can be annoying.
Food prices are fair. Wine prices are outrageous. This is probably the highest priced list in recent memory both bottle and by the glass. Looks like they’re working on a 75% gross margin on wine sales.
Beautiful restaurant. Excellent service. Everything on the menu was very heavy/rich but delicious.
Amazing restaurant in NY.
Food incredible and service too.
Loved an ambience and atmosphere.
Great menu and service
Wonderful restaurant- great food and service. A lovely evening!
Beautiful space and open kitchen. Great cocktails. Oysters and sea ice were amazing. Mussels as escargot were playful, but not necessarily impressive. All the rabbit, a signature dish, was also creative but lacked any spectacular flavors or textures. The dessert was beautiful and tasty. The big issue was the service. Far below par of a Starr restaurant. Empty wine glasses for 5-10 minutes of the main course, only to remember to serve it during the end of dessert. Timing of the dishes did not have a purposeful tempo. For this price point, having earned a Michelin star, we would have expected much more. Le Bernardin, Jean Georges offer much more spectacular dining experience at a similar price point.
Really fabulous night
Food flavor was so heavy. I don’t feel satisfied afterwards. A pretentious place.
Great ambiance and great food: French classics modernized, we really enjoyed. Our sommelier let us down on the ( expensive) wine recommendation. Hence the service low rating. Service from the hostess lake courtesy and warmth on the phone and on arrival as well.
Absolutely amazing experience. Second time celebrating me and my wife’s anniversary here, never let us down!
Great service and food. We came for lunch and will be back the next time we are in NYC.
I had a 10:15 breakfast reservation, for which we arrived on time. After we had been given our menus, our waitress came over a couple minutes later and asked us if we were ready to order. We had not even looked at the menus and were told that we had to order ASAP as the kitchen was closing for breakfast. The waitress literally stood at the table and waited until I told her we needed more than 30 seconds to decide. The hostess should have told us that there was a time constraint when we arrived and also the waitress when she gave us our menus. No one wants to feel rushed during a meal unless they themselves are in a hurry, especially at this sort of restaurant. The restaurant should not accept reservations past a certain time if they have time constraints. Had I been informed of this, I would have made an earlier reservation.
Pancake a bit change from last time.
Love the atmosphere here and the creativity of the dishes.
A serious place, and one of the best lunch deals in town at this level.
When you go to a restaurant, you are thinking about the food that you really want to eat. You are looking for the perfect flavor, color and texture that you want in your meal. In this case, my case I was amused for the quality of service in this restaurant, it was speckless.
Otherwise my dinner wasn’t what I was expecting.
“Agneau du Colorado en Deux Services” I pictured this meal all day in my little trip to the city, until the moment that I had my first bite. Lamb is a difficult protein to cook in perfection; in this experience the flavor was messy, strong and over cook, that it made me miss the flavor of the Lamb, grease and bad clean of the bone made my plate looking without color and texture.
The question is, when you are going to eat in a Michelin restaurant what are you looking for? The best service? Or the best bite of your life?
Unfortunately I just paid for the speckless service no for the food.
So delicious. Such gracious hosts and wait staff. Can’t wait to come back. Better than eleven Madison
Everything is great except the birthday dessert. Only marshmallow and chocolate.
We went for brunch on a Monday... We should have suspected that it would be very - too - quiet. Only three tables were occupied in the restaurant. We ordered a traditional breakfast, which was very good, but were offered extras without the waiter specifying they were extras... I am usually very conscious of this kind of tactic, but he was very subtle about it... I don't like to be taken advantage of. All in all, a good breakfast, but not worth the money.
We have visited on several occasions. It's always great...but this time was phenomenal. One menu choice looked better than the next, so I decided to let Ryan select for me. He did a fantastic job. Can't wait to go back.
Back again and plan returning often , Love everything about Le Coucou
Loved everything about our dining experience.
Delicious food in a beautiful setting with impeccable service. Perfect for a special occasion.
Food was very good and service was outstanding
Great overall experience starting with the staff at the front. We had a 10 minute wait but the bartender came right over to offer us a couple drinks while we waited and the drinks were amazing. Once we got seated, our waitress took over and she also did an amazing job making us feel very comfortable. She explained the menu in detail and made her recommendations. Our appetizer , Entree and dessert were all amazing. I highly recommend Le Coicou
My daughters has the best time due to our table location and we able to interact with Chef. What a wonderful night!
Well performed and beautiful cuisine, really flavorful experience!
The space is beautiful, especially the bar when you first enter. We went for lunch on a Saturday and really enjoyed the ambiance,. The furniture is worth mentioning, comfortable, elegant and fitting to the space. Food was on point, great wine list.
Went there for breakfast on a Saturday - great atmosphere, quite and good service. Generally very good value, too bad they had run out of pancakes...
Amazing place! Magical and unique!
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had! Perfect way to celebrate my birthday; everything from our arrival with the warm host team to our waiter Ethan’s patience with our questions made it exceptional! Can’t wait to come back :)
Our waiter reminded us that we were there a few weeks after they opened years ago. When a restaurant like Le Coucou gets so much attention and accolades one wonders if they begin to rest on their laurels: they haven’t. The food continues to dazzle. My rabbit dish and reimagined escargot were simply outstanding. So delicious.
Excellent. Food is executed very well and service is absolutely top notch. Beware that this is real French food and depending how you order is on the richer side.
