In January 2020, Little Madrid Tapas Café opened in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood, a small, cozy, and colorful space. The restaurant transported guests back to Old Madrid with its warm atmosphere, delicious flavors, and enticing aromas that emanated from the kitchen. With a global pandemic raging around the world, Little Madrid Tapas Café remained a steady presence in the neighborhood and soon emerged as one of the best Spanish restaurants in Chicago.

Delicious food, very authentic, great service! Definitely coming back. When we visited (July 16, 2024) they had just gotten their liquor license and had a decent wine list.

The sangria was disappointing. I've never been served sangria that didn't have fruit. The flavor was not great either. Most of the food was good and some was fantastic. However, I've had a lot of Serrano ham and I don't believe what was served on the charcuterie board was Serrano. The albondingas and sauce were great, as were the chicken croquettes.

Great atmosphere. Excellent service. Fun! (First time anyone poured sangria into my mouth from a goatskin flask) The food was very good, though we wished some other sauces had been offered besides aoli. Albondigas (meatballs) were heavenly…very tender and surrounded by a pool of tasty hot gravy. And we all wanted more of the crispy eggplant. We finished with dessert of churros with hot chocolate dipping sauce (swoon) and the Spanish crème brûlée. Both were excellent. We can’t wait to go back!

My experience here over all was average. The restaurant is cute and cozy, the service was excellent, nice wine selection. I’ve had tapas in a few places in Chicago and in Spain. I liked that the patatas bravas was not greasy, but they could have been a tad more crispy. The garlic aioli was delicious but I did not care for the paprika sauce…tasted too sweet like they added sugar to the sauce. The gambas were large and cooked well, but needed more garlic in my opinion. The Albindigas were delicious but I didn’t like the potato chip slices it was served on.. they were soggy after adding the gravy on top. I think they should rethink on what to serve with that with instead of the potato chip slices. The charcuterie I had only had 5 olives? And then they kind of ruined the whole thing by serving plain ol potato chips, which I did not expect and had a hard time understanding why you would place potato chips when you could have just added more olives other than one type of olives. I’m not sure if I would dine here again… maybe? The ambiance was nice and again the service was on point.

The place was very intimate, and so cozy as any old restaurant in Spain, the food is 100% authentic, I felt just like home, my Madrid, this restaurant made me feel in my favorite restaurant in Barrio Salamanca in Madrid!

Service level was better than anticipated, servers wearing jackets, adding some formality to the atmosphere. Our first time. Sat on sidewalk on a pleasant evening. Hope to return soon.
