Peter and Charlie, the owners of Mavis's Kitchen and Cabins at Mt. Warning.
Not a bad life theirs...living and working in a subtropical paradise...loving what they do and creating a style, a warmth, and a welcome that makes Mavis's such a special place to eat and stay.
Mavis is Charlie's mum...the woman who taught him a love of food and the joy of sharing - no wonder they named the place after her!
The beautiful old Queenslander that houses the Kitchen looks as though it grew on the luxuriant Mt. Warning site decades ago but it's only been there a handful of years.
It was originally the home of a restaurant that Peter and Charlie ran on the Gold Coast.
When they decided on a 'tree change' they bought the building with them...cut it into three pieces...put it on three massive trucks...put it back together...and started creating the Mavis's magic.
You can feel it...and you can certainly taste it.

Access to the restaurant is via the main driveway and carpark at 64 Mount Warning Road. <br /><br />For guests with mobility difficulties, an accessible carpark is located immediately adjacent to the restaurant for easier access. Simply bypass the main driveway entrance and continue another 200m down Mount Warning Road and you will come to a second driveway, also signed Mavis's Kitchen and Cabins. Follow the gravel driveway right to the end and park your car here.

The food was average and although we were all running late I felt the kitchen had had enough for the day. We also booked all tree cabins and my wife and I stayed in the dairy. There was no hot water until we checked out! It was my Birthday and I had not celebrated it in Years and was disappointmented.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch on the veranda of this beautiful restaurant enjoying the garden and fresh produce. Very relaxing and an exquisite menu.

Had a fab breakfast here last Saturday, been here before but brekkie was spesh. Wonderful fresh, organic produce, friendly, courteous staff (and owner 😊) and a fortuitous visit by a local avian chatterbox who talked the ears off two people having breakfast. A very special venue run by even more special people 🙏

Despite us being an hour late due to the Queensland time difference we were made to feel welcome and the service was absolutely brilliant. This is especially to note because it was a very hot day and the staff could not have done enough for us despite them feeling the heat themselves. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants the experience of a great restaurant, great location and great menu. I cannot fault it. A very special restaurant in a very special location.

Beautiful grounds and a lovely restored Queenslander, must admit I thought Friday night was advertised as a Tapas Nite. But no harm done, the tempura vegetable dish was absolutely yummy, my partners slaw & rib was nice but the sauce was on the salty side for my liking. Attentive service and a good wine and beverage selection. Will try lunch next so as to take more of the grounds in
