Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The room was cold. Nice size portions and tasty. The cost was reasonable.
Our server was great! Drinks were very good, as was the clam chowder. Blue cheese dressing on the wedge didn’t taste like it normally does and the sauce on the scallops and pasta was a bit “soupy”.
Let’s just say attorneys were notified and impending action forthcoming
I came here on the last night of Philly's CCD restaurant week and I will never be making that mistake again. I made a reservation for 9:15pm, received a voicemail saying I need to arrive before 9pm, otherwise they will be locking the door at 9pm because they need everyone out by 10:45 for an electrical shutdown. There were only two of us. The first person arrived at 8:52pm, and was told she couldn't be seated until the rest of the party arrived. I didn't arrive until 9:06pm. The doors definitely weren't locked and the entrance was packed. It was a little chaotic. We didn't get seated until 9:38pm. I ordered off of the special restaurant week menu and I wish I didn't. My coconut shrimp appetizer was burnt and there was an issue with the busboy that brought out our entrée because he took it to another table and had an attitude when we confronted him that the food may be ours. When we eventually got our entrees, they weren't even that good... bland mashed potatoes and under seasoned steak. Before this reservation, the last time I came here was 2018, but I don't remember the food being so underseasoned. Also, we were seated on the first floor and it was freezing the entire time... I literally kept my thick winter coat on for the whole meal. The overall experience wasn't all around terrible because our main server was a sweetheart (I think her name was Kayla). Also, we left around 10:50pm, and the 1st floor seemed to be like half full which was interesting being that I thought they were going to shut down at 10:45pm. Based off of this experience, I won't be booking again.
The service was extremely slow and the food was mediocre. I hope that this was only due to the extra restaurant week traffic and isn’t the typical experience.
The heat was broken and it was 60° inside and people were wearing their jackets while they eat. Totally unacceptable.
It was freezing inside the restaurant and when I ask why is was so cold inside the restaurant I was told that the heater was broken.
Given the fact that it was 17 degrees outside I think they should have closed the restaurant until the heater was fixed. I had to wear my coat the entire time I was in the restaurant.
To start with there was no heat!!! At first we didn't notice. We had a drink. Had to ask for bread. The steaks were medium rare when we asked for medium. It was a little chewy. The service was scarce. We asked multiple times for water etc. And it took multiple times of asking to get anything!! For a high end restaurant we found the experience unacceptable. We will never go back!!!
Plus it was my birthday. My husband had asked for a candle in desert. He requested on making reservation and when we got there.... Nope, that didn't happen either.
The restaurant was freezing cold and made it an uncomfortable experience
Went there for restaurant week which was three courses for $40. I was under the assumption that you would be getting food that normally would cost more but I had a decent salad. Small piece of sirloin steak (I asked for medium and got medium rare) with a small dollop of mashed potatoes and then a small piece of cheesecake. There was a small amount of melted truffle butter on the steak which added no flavor. I am sure I could have gotten a better meal in a number of places for the same pricr. Most disappointing was the $22 rye drink I splurged on which was supposed to be smoked tableside. The waiter had a small smoking tool which did not smoke the drink at all so i could have gotten a similar drink from much less cost. The waiter was pleasant and responsive so I gave an extra star’
over all great place to dine, upstairs dining was a bit chilly, and men's room dirty to be considered an upscaled restaurant?
Been looking forward to my reservations because my fiancé never been. The host was rude and nice at the same time. While trying to show my vaccination card she tried to view from six feet but kept saying she couldn’t see it! While being seated my fiancé went to the restroom. I told her I wanted to be seated and she told me to wait for him! The biggest problem was how when o mentioned I was cold she told me to that the heat was broken so casually like it wasn’t 27 degrees outside! Needless to say we ended up leaving and had a great fried lobster and ribeye at Capital Grille!
I was there for restaurant week lunch, I was seated timely, for starters I had a hot tea because of the temperature in there, the potato soup was delicious, My entree was salmon, mash potatoes and spinach the food was piping hot, I really enjoyed the food and for dessert I choose the brownie with a scoop of ice cream which was good considering it was very hard on the outside but warm and tasty in the middle, the waitress was phenomenal. It was very cold in the restaurant and no heat was on, not sure if I would go back to seat in the restaurant, however I would order take out.😊
Do not go during restaurant week! The food was subpar at best. The pasta noodles were undercooked, the steak was so chewy and rubbery, the worst cut, and the brownie was brittle and hard. The drinks were underwhelming and too light on the alcohol.
The building was cold, my food was okay, and my waiter kept forgetting about me.
The food was subpar. The waiter was awesome!
Service was great, thanks Cailah for the patience with me.
The food was ok we had been there 2 years ago food was great but this time food was so so and it was not that hot more like warm. Also steak was not really that good had not favor.
Our second time there was even more memorable than the first. I am so happy they have not lost their touch !!!!
Went for restaurant week and the meal, atmosphere, service and company was great.
It was freezing! I wish I’d read the other reviews from all week that said the same thing. Mngr came (after we asked server about the cold) to explain their 5 heating systems have not been working completely all week! It’s 30 degrees outside! WTH! Steak was undercooked, server didn’t come to check until we were finished and rest. was not busy. Spinach was cold. Dessert brownie was hard and stale. Luckily it was restaurant week and we still paid over $300 for a bad experience. Maybe offer complimentary coffee and tea to the frozen patrons. Will not be going back
We went for restaurant week and it was delicious! The table had the Cobia fish, blackened chicken, and CAB steak, plus lobster tails. All were wonderful and our server was friendy and attentive. Two of us ordered raw and fried oysters, but infortunately they were out of most oysters. The raw oysters that we did get were absolutely delicious (and that shave iced sauce was incredible!) Definitely recommend.
The food was amazing although my boyfriend didn’t like the chicken linguine. He loved the mixed field greens salad.💯
I can tell the restaurant is extremely understaffed. The manager was kind of rude & they don’t seat you until ALL of the party is there (only missing 1 out of 5). It was not really a welcoming environment. I’ve had better service at cheaper restaurants. I’ll never go back to this one again. My server was nice.
Staff was very welcoming and service was very good.
The service was excellent! The hostess and waiter were very courteous. Our food was delicious. We were in and out within 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Happy hour is amazing!!
Love the seclusion of seats. Food was amazing and service was impeccable! Will def be back!
The server was a bit slow with bread and drinks but it was no big deal. The food was AMAZING. My only issue was it was freezing cold in the restaurant.
Seating was fast. Food came out fast.
Dinner and service were excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you.
For my first time, it was nice. I only have one complaint… it was cold. I had to have my jacket on and I ordered tea to keep me warm.
I took my wife out to eat for her birthday! The restaurant was so cold im that I couldn’t get comfortable. My lobster tail wasn’t done, food was cold. I would never visit this restaurant again in my life.
Unfortunately, my six guests and myself were very unhappy with the experience we had at McCormick & Schmick’s on Saturday, January 15th. As soon as we arrived and was seated, we felt how cold it was in the diningroom. We expressed our concern to our waitress who told us that they were working on fixing it, which never happened while we were there. The waitress went on to say that she had two pair of pants on trying to stay warm in there, which seemed odd to us unless this had been a problem before that day. When our waitress came around to take our beverage orders, we again expressed how cold it was and all but one of us elected to get some hot tea to try to warm up. To our dismay, when the containers of water was brought to us, it was lukewarm. We expressed this to our waitress who blatantly told us that the water was hot when it was poured into the containers but carrying it to our table -with it being cold- caused it to be not hot with it being cold in there. That was unbelievable to us as we were not that far from the kitchen. She said short of putting each cup in the microwave and bringing each cup out individually, the water would not be hot. That would have been a nice gesture to do to meet the customer’s need but our waitress was not extremely friendly so it was not likely that she was going above and beyond to keep her customer’s happy. We were in awe, here we are sitting in a well known popular restaurant and we cannot even get a HOT cup of tea to warm us up while sitting in their cold restaurant. Totally unbelievable! With the help of a male waiter who was helping our waitress at our table, on two other occasions we were brought hot water for tea that still was lukewarm ( they could not get that water hot for whatever reason). The third time water for tea was brought it was a little bit hotter than the previous two times, bit it still was not hot as water for tea should be and is everywhere else.
We arrived for a nice lunch before seeing a show with my daughter. A belated Christmas present. We were seated to a freezing cold dining room. Our food arrived the same … cold. We couldn’t even take our coats off. I kept asking the waitress why is it so cold? Her answer….. we are cold too. I then order a HOT tea to only be told that it probably will not be cold because they just served another table and because it is so cold in the restaurant it’s making everything cold. It’s only at that point that we were told the heat was NOT working but they are working on it !! I can’t believe that when we walked into the restaurant that the hostess didn’t tell us this so we had a choice whether to eat in the cold. Shame on them for not being upfront and because of that I will never go back !
The food was really good and we had the best server ever! Eli was very attentive and personable. We would come back again and request to be seated in his section! Overall everyone we encountered was nice and helpful and I would go back again in a heartbeat!
I thought it would be a great idea for my mother to experience restaurant week for the 1st time and it was her birthday, so I decided on McCormick. I have been to McCormick but in Atlantic City and never had a bad experience. From the Add advertiser to the main course was not pleasing. The soup did not taste as if it was from scratch and salty, her steak was not well done, my daughter's steak was half well done medium rear, and my dish shrimp and some type of grit the was disgusting at room temp. We all ordered ginger ale, they were flat. The dessert wasn't hot it was room temperature. We brought this to our servicer's attention which she tried her best, but not once did a manager check on us. So disappointing.
I will never go on restaurant week. Way too crowded and the service was not good nor was the food.
Very disappointing experience for lunch today. There was nobody at the host stand when we arrived, and after waiting for a few minutes, the woman who had been standing in the kitchen chatting finally came over to seat us. We were seated in the bar area under a vent blowing cold air (it’s January). Nobody came to take our drink/food orders for at least 20 minutes. My drink was so sweet it was almost undrinkable, my husband’s was extremely watered down. We ordered the restaurant week 3 course menu. I was brought the wrong appetizer initially. My husband asked for his salad with no olives, it was full of olives. The rest of the food was ok, but for lunch at a “fine dining establishment” it was disappointing. The bartender who served us was very nice, however that only goes so far. The bathrooms were also disgusting - reminded me of a public restroom in a train station.
Also - the manager was holding job interviews to work in the restaurant a few tables over from where we were eating which was distracting and awkward.
Did not hit the mark today.
