I finally got to experience the omakase at Meadowrue inside the @ritzcarltonportland and it was truly something special. ✨ Every course felt like a story; thoughtful, balanced, and beautifully presented. From the seared tuna with strawberry tosazu to the king salmon with truffle and lemon curd, every bite was so amazing. The cocktail pairings took it even further, especially the Kireina Hana, one of the best gin drinks I’ve had in a long time! This 12-course experience is truly intimate, elevated, and easily one of my favorite dining memories in Portland recently. #Meadowrue #RitzCarltonPortland #PortlandEats #PDXDinners #portlandor #PNWFoodie #PortlandDining #pdxeats #pdx101 #pdxnow #pdxfood #portlandfood

This was a tough experience and not one I would ever book again or recommend to anyone. I'll start by saying, the service was impeccable and the staff was very, very attentive and kind. So truly, none of the poor experience we had was due to staff. The photos of Meadowrue are very deceiving as this is just the hotel bar, and it's much darker and less picturesque than photos make it seem. They really sell you on the omakase being "exclusive" to just the bar seats, but, when we arrived to eat, there were other people packing the bar just to drink and nothing felt exclusive about the spot at all. We were also in the back corner, kind of feeling shoved away from the other people there... Now food--- the entire menu felt poorly thought out and just didn't work. Portions too large, and really just not great. For a $200+ meal per person, I was expecting higher quality ingredients, better portions, and a menu that flowed. Sadly, this was not the case. Once dinner wrapped, the dessert was a literal frozen mochi ice cream in chocolate "soil" and some meringues the pastry chef made.... Again, for a $200+ meal, I was not expecting to eat a $3 frozen mochi, crushed up oreo cookies and a couple of meringues.... My overall rating is a 3/5, but would be more like a 2.5/5 if possible as staff was great, but the meal itself was just lackluster and disappointing. I am shocked others enjoyed and raved about this so much, as this is the lowest quality meal I've ever had at this price point.

Joseph was the chef who took care of my omakase. He was brilliant and took such care. The food was delicious. James, the maître d’, was wonderful, kind and attentive. The entire team was superb. Highly recommend Meadowrue’s 12-course omakase experience!

I was extremely disappointed, they over serve on alcohol and under deliver on the food. Skip this place and go to a sushi bar.

This was an astonishingly disappointing experience, especially for a venue located inside the Ritz-Carlton. Despite whatever branding or menu styling suggests, this is not a Japanese restaurant. It is a fairly ordinary bar serving overwrought “nouveau” food that was more unpleasant than impressive. The most unacceptable part was the fruit fly infestation. They were present throughout the meal, and when the staff acknowledged it, their explanation was essentially that it was “the season.” That might be a tolerable excuse at an outdoor food cart. It is absolutely not acceptable inside a Ritz-Carlton property. The food did nothing to redeem the experience. It felt pretentious, confused, and frankly unappetizing. For a $444 meal for two, I expected something memorable in the right way. Instead, the evening felt careless, overpriced, and far below the standard this location should uphold. To make matters worse, a 20% gratuity is automatically built into the bill, regardless of the quality of service or experience. Nothing about this meal, from the food to the atmosphere to the hygiene concerns, justified that charge. This was not remotely worthy of the Ritz-Carlton name, nor of the price. I would not return, and I would caution others against assuming the location guarantees quality. It’s been 10 years since I’ve written a negative review for anything.

The Portland Dining Month omakase was delicious. I’m looking forward to coming back for another Meadowrue omakase.

The experience started amazing, I was dazzled by the ambiance of truly being in a medow. The food played with my palate and senses. Beautifully cut sushi bathed in light sauces. Each plated and brought with a crafted cocktail and a story. Unfortunately it is presented at a bartop and some of the patrons like to chat. So if your going to go be prepared to have a unprovoked conversation. Besides that Bona appetit!

Except the first course, the rest of dishes were very mediocre, shouldn’t be the level of a 5 star hotel’s food. The desert crepe was obviously made the night before , very not fresh tasting.

At long last, the team at Meadowrue have proven they are not just capable of delivering an experience on par with what Bellpine can deliver upstairs - with a full kitchen - they are capable of beating it in a much more intimate space. This was the best experience I've had on the entire property. Chef Ocean has masterfully transformed the food offerings at Meadowrue, and as Beverage Curator, Jason, along with the team of Oula, Jeff, and Matthew, have created beverage pairings unlike any other you will find in Portland. Every dish in this experience perfectly showcased why you shouldn't write off Meadowrue as just another lobby bar. From the painstakingly handcrafted rose with the kanpachi sashimi, to the incredible variety of flavors in the chawanmushi and sushi fights, to the subtle yet perfect amount of yuzu in the house-made ramen, and the intricate layers of the strawberry matcha crepe cake, this experience vastly exceeded my expectations, and has set the new standard to beat. It's a shame this was a very limited offering because it has made one thing above all abundantly clear: Chef Ocean is just getting started in showing his true potential.

This poor place. It should be so nice with top notch service given the name on the building, but it just falls flat. The key missing ingredient is employees who care - or at least good enough actors. The staff was positively lifeless, dull, and unconcerned. Our waiter made us wait 40 minutes for our first course, 20 minutes for our first drink. Keep in mind this was a pre-set Valentines menu. By the time dessert was to be coming out, we just wanted to go home because of sitting there so long. When we asked the waiter if it could be boxed up, he made excuses about why everything took so long. Awkward. We ended up staying, which was a good decision because the dessert was truly the best part. Another odd thing - what we got wasn't exactly what was on the pre-set menu. Some ingredients were different or swapped out. Instead of mixed nuts and dates with the cheese cup, it was.. corn nuts? yeah like the kids snack you get at the grocery store. Not really a fan but okay. The Cesar salad advertised likewise contained different ingredients. We got the feeling not a lot of people signed up for this, so they just cobbled together whatever was in the kitchen. The bread that came with the cheese cup was thin and crunchy which is fine, but the way it was packed into the cold up led to the bottom halves of the bread becoming soggy and icky. But again, biggest complaint, the waiter. He was grumpy, unfriendly, and lifeless.
