MEAT is a locally owned smokehouse in the heart of Old Strathcona, serving authentic Texas-style BBQ built on quality meats, savoury sides, homemade sauces, and a casual, welcoming room to settle in. Brisket, beer, and bourbon - keeping it simple and doing it well.

Our brisket starts with Benchmark Angus beef, a family-run Alberta ranch that’s been raising free-range, humanely treated, and hormone-free cattle for nearly 100 years. From there, it spends hours in our Ole Hickory smoker, fired up nearly 24/7, taking on rich cherry and hickory smoke alongside ribs, pork, chicken, and sausage. Behind the bar, you’ll find a thoughtfully curated bourbon and whisky list, from trusted favourites to harder-to-find bottles.

We keep things straightforward: grab a seat at our long communal tables, order meats by the pound, sides by the size, and dig in. BBQ is meant to be shared.

Good food done well. I hate the family style seating with long tables shared with strangers and the horrible metal chairs. No room to put a purse or bag anywhere. Service was good, a little over attentive, and food was very good with large portions.

Meat presented above service. Marina was attentive, expedient, and welcomingly approachable. The food was mouth watering delicious. My Significant and I enjoyed our meal and time. My one disappointment was where we were seated. I shall be more specific next time.

great food had the Meat Sampler and had friends from Wpg who we were treating and they really enjoyed! loved our drinks and especially the different old fashion's Sampler with coleslaw(very good as well)and a couple adds were more than enough. Service awesome
