About this restaurant

Established in 1987, Meson Don Felipe was the first Tapas Bar in London and we are still an independent, family-run business. You can expect great tapas and some amazing, well-priced Spanish wines, served in an authentic, relaxed atmosphere.
We have an outside terrace with heaters and umbrellas but of course, we can't promise the weather! If you book outside we can't guarantee a table inside if the weather changes.
For those unable to eat-in, we offer our famous Paellas for takeaway at lunchtime Monday-Friday.
Thank you for all your support and we look forward to welcoming you soon to this little bit of Spain in Waterloo.

    Lovely, have visited many times before and food is excellent. My only concern is background music (rap) does not suit the restaurant. Maybe some nice Spanish music would benefit the ambience.

    Very friendly well informed staff who discussed various tapas with us and on choosing the wine gave us samples of two we were considering. The food was the same high standard I remembered from years ago and ambiance was just as conducive to an enjoyable lunch with great pals.

    Substandard food, the entire approach feels about two decades out of date. When there are so many brilliant Spanish tapas places in London, I see no reason to go back to Meson Don Felipe. Service felt stressed and hurried, unwelcoming. Much to improve.

    Tables were very tight and small. The good came out all together which made this tricky and limited to how much we could order. Very busy and noisy but a good atmosphere. Service was a little slow but the staff were friendly and polite. Great location for The Old Vic and tube stations.

    Really great place, food was fantastic. Only down side was our table for 2 was tiny for the amount of food we ordered!

    Fantastic experience. Lovely food and good service. It would be perfect except for one member of staff who had no idea how to use the ipad for taking orders, didn't know anything about the drinks they sold and got our order wrong twice. They were obviously disinterested to the point that they seemed to be avoiding customers.

    Lovely friendly welcome. Excellent spot with authentic Spanish atmosphere. Staff excellent, attentive and friendly without being overly familiar. Leyan was especially helpful with the menu and general hospitality. Food was superb. Chorizo, Patatas Bravas garlic prawns and some aubergine dish my wife ordered that was delicious. Was slightly nervous after reading recent reviews but was pleasantly surprised.
