Momofuku Ko - Counter Seating
Momofuku Ko serves a set multi-course menu for lunch and dinner in our main dining room along a kitchen counter and two tables. Executive Chef Sean Gray uses seasonal ingredients, and changes the menu frequently based on market availability. Please allow at least 2.5 hours for your meal.
Ko, which means "child of," has two Michelin stars, which it has retained since 2009. In 2014, Ko moved from its original location on 1st Avenue to Extra Place.

We went to NY (from DC) to celebrate our anniversary at “Ko”. We enjoyed a lot about their food and the wine paring, and their service, of course. Especially, I (Japanese) loved the way to use Dashi (Umami) and their timing to serve next dish. We really enjoyed the moment...Arigato!
P.S. I wanted to have their shrimp dish wi Sake! I will definitely do it next time :-)
Wonderful experience! The tasting menu is very carefully prepared to please your taste buds and your eyes. It’s very enjoyable to see your food being prepared and served right away to you. Every dish is a surprise. The chef plays with ingredients, temperature, texture to make it an exciting experience. This is is achieved with ingredients that are primarily locally sourced or cultivated. The service is impeccable and pleasant. The young chefs are a delight to watch. They perform in front of your eyes with such dedication and professionalism at the same time looking very cool and at ease in their environment.
There was nothing disappointing with all the expectations. The service was remarkable, the food amazing and the warmth of the experience not expected. They asked if it was an occasion which is was, my anniversary and they gave us a complimentary glass of sparkling wine at the start and menus to take home with "Happy 5th Anniversary" at the end of dinner.
Blaring heavy metal playlist. Several of the dishes under seasoned and bland - and yes I’ve had kaiseki before. Massively overpriced. I was blown away really by the disconnect between the reputation of the restaurant and the reality.
We had an amazing, unforgettable experience. Every course was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. We were completely blown away! The ingredients were unique and interesting. The staff was so warm and welcoming that we can't wait to go back. Sous Chef Houston accommodated our food allergies and made us feel like VIPs. We can't rave enough about the entire experience.

This was a fantastic experience, from the entrance to the exit. Everyone we encountered was delightful, from the hostess, to the chefs, to the servers, etc. The food was exceptional, creative and artistic. We had around 13-15 courses in about a 3 hour time span. It did not feel like that long at all. The music was fun and being able to watch the preparation was entertaining. The food is pricey, but we knew that going in. If you want a distinctive experience with phenomenal food, Ko is a must!

The food and service were spectacular! The staff was incredibly warm and accommodating. I was blown away by the food and inventive flavor combinations.
The dinning course was awesome, the food was delicious and elaborated. But we were really expecting more from “the experience” itsef. The service was really bad, totally not focused on the client. It makes no sense. We had much better experiences in other similar restaurants. We won’t come back.

What a tremendous experience. The food and service were fantastic. Manager Su and beverage manager Arthur are at the top of their game. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the kitchen team expertly putting together each of the fourteen (yes fourteen) courses.
Serving this many courses takes a high level of skill. In addition to maintaining a timely flow of food - the menu also has to flow - service has to also flow. Momofuku’s team does this expertly combining great culinary skill with warm approachable service.
Can’t recommend this place highly enough.
Great balance between food, ambiance (music) and seatings all arround the kitchen. The beverage are very well selected and match the surprising cuisine.

One Friday afternoon I had an itch to solo dine and pull the trigger on finally going to Ko Counter! I checked and checked until a seat for 1 opened soon after 6, booked, and took the train in from Long Island!
The meal was excellent, as is to be expected, but the incredible wine pairings and the new friend I made in the kind manager after the incredible meal sealed this as one of the greatest Michelin level experiences in NYC.
We had a wonderful dining experience at Momofuku Ko. The food was creative and delicious, the service knowledgeable and gracious.

Excellent service and excellent value. We got 14 dishes overall, not including a palate cleanser and a take home dessert, as well as a complimentary glass of wine for our anniversary. I enjoyed many of them and the ones I didn't were more of a personal preference in terms of flavor rather than any quality issue. The servers were so attentive (sometimes I didn't even notice they had taken my plate away) and the chefs were busy but not rushed, allowing a calm atmosphere for them to concentrate on each plate. I loved the open kitchen which allowed us to see everything. Everybody was very competent. Ambiance could fit into casual or fancy occasions.
The food and service were beyond my expectation, and when I say "services", I mean everyone from the server, manager, chefs and sommelier who made us feel like VIPs. While I generally prefer to dine at the bar versus in a table seating situation, this experience was especially enjoyable because we were able to see all the "action" and to interact with all the chefs. Really great experience.

The desserts that weren't ice cream could be improved though. I don't know if it's possible but to have 2 options of desserts would be amazing. I understand that always being surprised is probably best but to have a choose your journey for the desserts could elevate the experience.
The meat, pork and fish entrees were superb. I forget the name of the dish but it came after the steak. That was our least favorite. I assumed it was to cleanse the stomach for the rest of the courses but we felt it lacked that wow factor that the other dishes offered.

disappointment! The restaurant is very nice and cool, the service too cold, a few words, a few smiles and few explanations. Eating unfortunately too normal. Few contrasts and few flavors. We will not return.

Amazing experience! The service is as good as it can be, everyone is smilling and making sure you're evening is going well. The chefs in the middle section are talking to you and explaining every dish. It's a little on the expensive side, but it's worth going at least once in your life!
We had an unforgettable experience sampling the tasting menu at Ko. The counter seating enabled us to watch as the chefs prepared a range of dishes -- some (like the honey dusted fried chicken), playfully postmodern, others (like the sea urchin and chickpea) straightforward flavor bombs -- allowing us to enjoy then with both our eyes & taste buds.
this was most definitely a wonderful experience. the service was impeccable and not having to choose from a menu made the meal stress free and we got a sampling of everything.
Omg! Everything about this place is more than expected! The food was tasteful, different and delicious. The staff were more than nice. And to sit at the counter (highly recommended) was a great experience in itself to see how they prepare the food. They work like a well oiled machine. I couldn’t be happier with our meal. A MUST DO IN NYC!!!
