   The ambience is excellent. We sat outside under the roof. The host put us near a heater on a damp day. The food is very good and the wine was excellent. We mostly go to Mulino for the wonderful outdoor seating.

   We waited over 8 minutes to be greeted by the server, which was a good indication of the waiting time for the food. The food was fair, nothing special, my tagliatelle was dry and the consistency of the plate was not good, like if it was seated for a long time. The flavor was not there, so I have to add more parmigiana to have some taste in it. The lasagna was only okay, as it looks like it was exactly the same sauce from the Tagliatelle but in a Lasagna. The best pasta was the Caccio e Peppe, but the others were average, which didn’t justify the over $200 check for a party of 5. Not sure if I want to pay that amount again for the quality of the food.

   The staff was attentive, waiter recommended a very nice wine. My chicken was tasty, with note that the asparagus was tough. The reason I would not consider coming back is the noise. The noise from the bar makes it hard to converse in normal tones. When he shook the drinks we had to pause conversation for a moment. There are noise mitigation options that are also decorative. I would consider them. A restaurant this expensive and with this reputation should not sound like a regular bar and grill.

   We had a reservation for some time. arrived and they said we could sit outside OR wait for a table inside? what! we had a reservation for indoor table. luckily our wait was short, but not the greeting we were expecting and our table between bar and kitchen. Not the best. Good meal, good server.

    We arrived for our 5:15pm reservation at 5:20 and were told it would be 45 minutes for our table or we could eat outside. It was 55 degrees outside. You need to remove the policy requesting for a credit card to book a reservation. You should also make it a practice to call your customers with existing reservations that you were behind schedule by almost one hour. I do not plan on coming back. The food was good but not worth the process we experienced just trying to be seated at our reserved time.

    We were celebrating my Graduation Dinner from Duke University , the food and service was excellent and food was so tasty. Coming in from LA and DC, the dinning arrangement was great! I would 10/10 recommend if visiting the Raleigh area and we hope to be back. The Lamb and Pastas were delicious.

    We made this reservation two months in advance to celebrate our daughter's college graduation! Friends recommended Mulino. Unfortunately, our table was outdoors and the rain was coming in sideways. According to the website, there was tarp, which we asked the hostess about putting down. Her response was disarmingly cold, unfriendly, and dismissive. We had 13 family that came in from New York, Maryland and Georgia, as the parents of the grad, it didn't feel good. I found a manager who was listened and apologized about the red-headed hostess' behavior. The food was really good. The waiter was attentive and well-trained.

    We visited on a Sunday evening with our daughter and our daughter's friend. Our first two choices of red wine were not available (sold out) and the wine finally brought to us was of a different vintage than what was listed and ordered. For an antipasti, we ordered arancini, but were told they were sold out. So, we instead ordered the fritto misto, which was not quite as tender as we like, but was still good. For dinner, my daughter's friend ordered the pasta carbonara but we were told it was "not available". The server came back to the table and said the owner had agreed to make it after all. But when it came, the "carbonara" was in a soupy light brown sauce - and did not look like any carbonara we had ever seen. Our remaining pasta dishes were generally fine, although my wife's caccio e peppe had very little cheese. (Side note, we were told pizzas were not available, although we did not intend to order any.) Our server felt bad that so many of the items were not available and offered us two complimentary desserts, so we ordered tiramisu and - you guessed it - it was sold out and not available. If we were to try Mulino again, we would definitely make earlier reservations.

    The hostess personnel definitely needs work! I had a reservation for four people inside and while waiting to give my name, our table was given to a “more desirable” couple. Why would you give two people without a reservation a table for four without having them wait to survey who was waiting with reservations. So, we had no choice than to take a table outside (with a possibility of rain) near the outside bar. One hostess was inappropriately dressed and had to cover herself with a hoodie. I will shout out our waiter, who was really the bartender for his excellent service and drinks… Great Branden! The manager tries to soothe things over after that fact.. which was even more irritating because we were about to leave. His excuses didn’t register with us because not once did he own the issues going on that evening nor how the hostess actions made us feel. He seemed overwhelmed by lack of staff with the number of patrons.

    Won't return - Feel like this place has slipped - and no - not just covid... Yes they were short staffed. We are pretty chill folks and found the hostess wasn't well dressed to be the face, greeting of the establishment. The food was good, not great but good. The biggest issue for me was the Tiramisu - we got it there 4 months ago and it was amazing and about 6"x6", lovely... this time - it was served in a small water glass. Very Lame. I won't be going back - money is better spent elsewhere.

    We've been to Mulino before and it was standard Italian fare -- nothing bad, nothing great. The service was great, the ambiance couldn't be beat. We decided it might be fun to take a group out for my husband's 50th there. What a mistake. It started with us asking for the "reserve wine list" which the main menu says is available. I thought I remembered us having something like that the first time we went, and there were some great bottles on that list. We were informed there was no reserve list but there are some "extra bottles" somewhere. We asked what we were looking for. I'm in the wine industry and I know a lot about Italian wine so that is a hard question -- I wanted to see what was available to make a decision. It was so odd. What was stranger was when we were talking and hanging out and this guy just brought over bottles and put them on the table after I said we'd just order from the menu (and we had ordered). Then we ordered the food. The arancini was SO salty it was just barely edible. My husband ordered a salad and a pasta dish. It WAS HIS BIRTHDAY. They just forgot to bring him his pasta. We reminded them and it still never came. At the end of the meal they asked us how things were and we told them. They apologized, which was nice, but then after they ran my card the server came over and told me that she forgot to charge us for the first bottle of wine so she would need my card again. It was so awkward. I gave her the card, but then the guy who had been handling the wine came over to find out what the dispute was about. I just said I was happy to pay for the bottle but that we never got our entree for my husband and that we would never return (which we won't). He was very nice and comp'ed the bottle but it doesn't really make up for the fact that the entire meal and service experience was terrible. It's a very cool venue, the outdoor space is awesome but service is terrible and the food was meh. I hope they get new management but for now, never again

    Table had no silverware or napkins when we got there, ordered calamari appetizer for $16 which consisted of two shrimp and maybe five pieces of calamari with mostly fried pickles and peppers (total rip off) but the sauce on the side was delicious. Our bread basket was on a plate and was also terrible, not warm, barely any butter. Our entrees were also not good. Lamb shank had a terrible tasting sauce which was poured all over the risotto, which was the best part of the plate. Gnocchi portion was also small. Overall it’s a beautiful location with very overpriced food that is not even that good

    This was an amazing dining experience! The wine was delicious, the truffle gnocchi was incredible and the ribeye was grilled perfectly with so much flavor. We are from the Northeast but will definitely return!

    Cocktails were good but pricy. Burrata salad delicious, as were salmon ravioli and tagliatelle. Want to return once weather is a bit warmer to enjoy the patio and fountain more. Pizzas looked great. Cannoli was good, as was lemon semifreddo. Will definitely return.

    We have eaten at Mulino twice and much prefer inside seating. The outside is funky with lots of plantings but too noisy for my taste. The food and service were the same. We will go again! Very good experience.

    This was our second Easter dinner that we celebrated at Mulino and both times we were very pleased. The food was excellent and we had a great time. I would highly recommend this restaurant and we will go back.
