Great choice for a birthday dinner with a party of 6.
La comida estuvo muy rica, pero si es un lugar extremadamente ruidoso, la mesera nos dio un trato maravilloso
I had a horrible experience at the Oceanaire. Our server was just terrible. From the gate the server didn’t even tell us his name. His introduction was, “Hi I’ll be your server for the night what would you like to drink?” My date order her drink and I order my glass of wine, and before I could finish ordering another drink, he says ok and just leaves. We waited for about 15 before a busboy came by and actually offered us water where we ordered bottle water. At that point my date was over the experience and wanted to leave. I had to talk her into staying, just for the service not to improve. Once he brought us our drinks, my date requested a straw and he asked my date why do you need two straws. Why would you even question a guest about their request for an extra straw? The worst part it took him about 20 minutes to bring the straw. He actually brought our appetizer before the straw and that was something we ordered a while ago. I mean the guys attitude felt like hey I don’t really want to serve you but it’s my job type of attitude. After dinner, I went to a supervisor to speak about the experience, and I was told I would receive a call and never heard from them. As I finished making my complaint on my way out, another group in the restaurant stopped me, and told me how they agreed the service was horrible. I have been going to fine dining restaurant since a kid and by far this is the worst experience I have ever had with a server. I spent 300+ dollars to receive terrible service and zero accountability.
The service was absolutely terrible. The food was mediocre.
Amazing experience. The food was great and cool laid back elegant ambient was conductive to a great gourmet experience.
The ambiance of this restaurant has gone from high end to run of the mill. Setting was nice but there were several large groups that did not adhere to published dress code and were loud. Food was good but as is a default in DC, overpriced. Service was mediocre and there was little attention to detail. Having spent over $150/guest we left asking what we really got for this tally. We will give Oceanaire a good think before we make our next visit.
Food tastes superb! Waitress was excellent providing her suggestion on her favorites and customer’s popular dishes and Maureen D’ James provided top notch customer service.
A nice dining experience
V was a fantastic server, attentive but not intrusive--she really was excellent! The food, as always was delicious--my guest had not dined at Oceanaire; he s quite impressed with the quality of the food and the service.
Elmer was very helpful and expeditious in serving the table. We had a great time despite what occurred, thanks again. Cheers 🥂
Enjoyed a lovely lunch. Loved the Seafood Salad! It’s huge! Glad I had lots to take home.
We met another couple for dinner thinking it would as it has been in the past. I was wrong.
The food was mediocre and the service was absolutely horrible. It took us over an hour to get our food. Our waitress kept disappearing. And what in the world happened to the dress code? There were people walking around in sweatsuits, cut off jeans and sneakers. Girls with dresses that were showing too much. This restaurant’s standards have gone to the wayside.
Great service and the food was fantastic!!
Not back to normal service was slow as not enough servers. Food was cold when its arrived at table. Not their fault as they are figuring out the new world. Will eat there again
This was my first visit to the Oceanaire Seafood Room, and I was pleasantly
Surprised by the ambience, professional but warm and friendly service. The entree was superb. I will definitely be visiting again.
I was hoping for an outstanding experience, as I've had at Oceannaire in the past. It was my mother's 79th birthday and she'd never visited Oceannaire before and her simple request was "good seafood." I'm typically not one to ever complain, but quick to pay compliments, but last nights experience was worth noting. It was below zero in there, making for a frigid experience (and I'm one who's always hot). The food was as good as I remember, but wow, the portions were pretty small. I understand that many restaurants are struggling during these times and for that reason alone, I hesitate to mention the service, but it was not up to par. My water glass sat empty most of the evening, and I had to flag someone down to get two separate refills on wine. Overall, I was a bit disappointed, but I'll likely be back, as I'm trying to be as supportive as I can afford with area restaurants.
I went for my wedding anniversary. The food and attention to detail was amazing!
There for an early dinner (6:30) on a Friday. Number of guests increased while we were there, but service level remained high. Weirdly, most of our party doesn’t actually eat fish (and entree choices ARE limited if one wants neither seafood nor steak:!no chicken, no pasta), but the multiple vegetarian sides were well-prepared. And my filet mignon was delicious. Cocktail menu was creative and appealing. Didn’t order dessert but the options looked good.
First post-covid visit. Oceanaire has unfortunately gone downhill. Service was poor, room was very dark and noisy.
Fabulous meal - I recommend the grilled rockfish with udon in miso
Food was excellent. Wish there was tuna on menu, either as entree or appetizer.
The service was great. The waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. He checked in on us periodically but not too much that it was annoying. The food was amazing! Definitely expensive but well worth it.
I would say this was a tremendous Anniversary dinner I will never forget. The hospitality was superb. The seafood was fresh and tasty I would recommend to anyone. Morad our waiter was golden. They have a team effort there where you will never feel
unattended to. We love our experience there and would definitely eat there again.
Fourth of July. It was awesome and food was wonderful.
Appetizers were good but when it came to my bone in rib-eye that I ordered medium. When I got it, it was well done. And sent it back. They said it would be right out. 25 minutes later still waiting after the floor manager even said we will make sure it comes out. The waiter still said that it will still be a few more minutes. So this tells me they didn’t even start it. So I told them to cancel the order and that will be it. I told him that’s close to 30 minutes for a new ribeye that’s 3/4” thick and should not take that long for being medium. The general many was sympathetic and asked for something else but the floor many didn’t even look our way. My family had already finished by the time they would have Foote. My steak finished.
I enjoyed my steak and lobster tail… however they must have given me the tail of a baby lobster. It was served grilled and without butter. Looked sad on my plate and was very little meat. Also the mashed potatoes had absolutely NO taste, don’t waste money on those! Server was great but they had us in a back room with a loud group of people.
The surprise dinner for my mom was nothing but amazing. Great service! Customer service was also amazing.
•Very nice ambiance
•Fried Lobster Tail..delicious
•The food is á la cart
•Sea Bass overcooked
The price description on Opentable is completely off. Everything $30 or under - absolutely not. Most main course items were closer to $50. The food was delicious and I’m not saying it wasn’t worth it. Just saying the description should be more accurate. The service was adequate, but wasn’t warm.
5:30pm reservation for 4 adults to celebrate a Thursday birthday. Seated immediately and the service was TOP NOTCH from the moment we met Pino, our waiter! Specially printed,Happy Birthday Menu’s (that were later rolled up and given to us) were right there with excellent choices for Cocktails, Wines, Appetizers, Entrees, Sides and Desserts! The tough part was choosing. Cocktails were spot on (we ordered each bourbon based one). Appetizer choices of Caviar w Accoutrements (of note, the soft round tiny pita pancakes are awesome). Shrimp & Grits delighted the VERY Southern birthday boy! Substantial portion Entrees of Chilean Sea Bass, Lobster Tail and Large Scallops (with the order prepared two ways as described by Pino were perfectly prepared- not overcooked, and presented beautifully. Side dishes of spinach and truffle mashed potatoes were for the table not individual. A surprise Birthday dessert was a delightful fire show…as a S’mores Style pineapple cake, with an ice cream center, and marshmallow frosting was set aflame and topped with chocolate. OMG…It served 4 very well.
One of the best birthday dinners EVER!
This lunch was a classic bait and switch. I have hosted events in this very location on an annual basis since 2012.
There’s a lunch menu on this app with dramatically lower pricing than the dinner menu.
When our group of 16 arrived, we were handed dinner menus, told that there were NO lunch menus (even after I protested), and promptly up-sold (attempted, unsuccessfully) the Tomahawk Ribeye.
I was embarrassed for going well over budget. Even after we ordered 16 salads. Like EXTREMELY embarrassed in front of my Boss.
I love this place, but I feel let-down. I had planned every aspect of a 3 day meeting and this was our last organized meal with business at the center of the event.
I expected better. Will be moving my annual event elsewhere next February. Bummer.
The food is overpriced. The service was slow considering the bevy of waiters and staff that were present.
Food was good but order wasn’t as ordered. It’s incredibly loud and distracting. If you go with a large group and want to be loud it’s a perfect spot.
Food was good but menu selection was not as depicted on their website menu.
Staff was a bit overwhelmed as it was a busy night.
I’ve been dining here since the restaurant opened about 21 years ago and I still enjoy it.
One of my favorite restaurants. I love that you can order the food a la carte from the “simply prepared” menu. When the quality of the meat/fish is good, it doesn’t need to be slathered in sauces and seasonings. The service here is top notch- every server I’ve had here is professional and attentive. My only wish is that there weren’t televisions at the bar- or if they weren’t visible from the restaurant- sort of takes away from the ambiance. One of my favorite restaurants to go to.
My family and I really enjoyed ourselves. The food the service was Excellent!!
Beautiful night not one complaint. Excellent customer service. Excellent food.
