About this restaurant

The humble British chippy has had a bit of a makeover recently and among the best of this new generation of fish and chip restaurants in Oliver’s in London’s Belsize Park. Proudly cosy, seating just a few lucky guests, this bustling wee dining room is just packed with character reminiscent of mid-century British style, a time which could be considered the heyday of the fish supper. So you’ll find brick tiling, aluminum seating, and scrubbed wood tables alongside black and white flooring and the all important glass bottles of Heinz ketchup cosied up to salt and vinegar dispensers. Blending traditional fish and chips with Mediterranean seafood dishes, Oliver’s is dedicated to freshness and quality with ingredients very carefully sourced for every creation, from hearty main meals to the smaller snacks available throughout the day. Booking in advance is highly recommended to guarantee a spot in this charming restaurant growing in popularity every day.

This is a standard fish n chip joint - the take away seems quite popular and there was qiute a ot of traffic while we were there. The fish was well done with crispy batter - the chips slightly soggy but OK.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Food was very good though the vegetables were a bit lukewarm. Otherwise highly to recommend for traditional fish and chips. Very good portion size!

If you like down to earth fish and chips then Olivers is the place to go. This is a no nonsense local fish and chips restaurant with a small dining area. The main business is in take away but you are very welcome to sit down and enjoy the delicious fish. Fried fish is available in matzo meal or batter or for a healthy option you can have it grilled. One portion of fries is enough for two and there are plenty of sides to chose from. We've visited many times and are never disappointed. Friendly service and reasonable prices- all good.

Olivers on Haverstock Hill is an unpretentious fish restaurant serving excellent fried and grilled fish. There is limited seating so it is good to make a reservation. They recently opened for Sunday lunch and have some specials as well as the standard fare. I had grilled sea bass filet with roasted vegetables that was delicious. The service is friendly and the prices reasonable.

The fish was so unappetising. Grilled fish looked like sloppy boiled fish. Chips soft and floppy, new potatoes hard. The only nice part if the menu was the israeli salad. An experience never to be repeated and also expensive. The smell of acrid oil in the place forced us to leave early but should have left when the food arrived. Didn't want to make a scene in front of our guests. Very embarrassing!

This is the place to go if you love fish n chips- more so If you have a GF dietary requirement!! They do a fabulous GF batter, chips, onion rings and what not! GF options are available only once a week on Wednesdays. My husband had a grilled fish and he loved it. The place is very popular (understandably) so would recommend booking ahead. Service is very good and the restaurant is easy to get to-smack in the middle of 2 tube stations-Chalk Farm & Belsize Park.

I ordered the Plaice and it was a huge portion but mostly batter. The fish was really soft and wet, falling apart and the batter was really greasy. My husband had the cod but he liked his. Chips were okay, maybe a little on the soft side as well. Coleslaw was good. A little pricey for what you get. The place seemed really nice, liked the décor and the service was really good.
