Osteria La Buca
What Insiders Are Saying
A classic neighborhood spot, with pasta worth driving across the city for.
Upstairs is quieter than downstairs. Food is always delicious!
Absolutely delicious. The ricotta, mixed lettuces salad, bolognese, and sausage pasta were ALL FANTASTIC. We celebrated our anniversary here, and JANELLE made us feel most special. Hats off to ethe entire staff from front of house to the kitchen. We can’t recommend this place any more highly!
Delicious meal! I highly recommend the chocolate mousse for dessert. It is chocolate heaven. Great service! Very enjoyable dinner experience.
Always love this restaurant top quality food, but this time our waitress was a little awkward and we were sat next to this couple that kept listening in to our conversation. It was a little annoying , so 4 out of 5 this time.
Excellent bread and pastas. We ordered the butter lettuce salad (simple, yet tasty), short rib ravioli (delicious) and bucatini carbonara (hearty and scrumptious).
My favorite place in LA
Great food and great staff! Best homemade pasta in town!
Great service. Care and good taste is evident in the food and all aspects of the restaurant.
The food was very delicious. I had the Homemade Spaghetti and Meatballs! Extraordinary. The only down side was the noise level made it difficult to hear my friends.
The restaurant has an airy, open-plan dining room with large glass windows looking onto Melrose Avenue, partly vitiated by the fact that the windows face north. The floor is concrete, and some of the seats are have drafts because they are next to door gaps.
The brunch menu I saw was somewhat brief, but the selections were well-chosen, giving both breakfast and luncheon options, and provided thoughtful variations on brunch classics. I had a very enjoyable polenta skillet cake, but the California toast my companion had was even better.
The food is just delicious.....100% of the time. We are regulars for take out and dine in. Does miss this gem, and don't miss the Brussel sprouts!
The staff is superb, carbonara + Brussels sprouts + ricotta are life, 100% every time
My friends and I wanted to celebrate New Years Eve with a nice dinner and drinks without all the craziness of a pri fixe menu or large ticket purchase. Our experience was exactly what we wanted: great food, nice wine, and excellent service.
Amazing food and service. Very romantic.
We’ve never had a bad time at Osteria La Buca!
Great pasta! Brussels sprouts, farro Caesar salad, and pork meatballs were delicious, too.
Went for my 30th birthday and glad I chose Osteria La Buca. I live a block away and I now understand the fuss. The food was delicious; I had the short rib ravioli (melt in your mouth amazingness) and tasted my boyfriend's Bucatini Carbonara, which has thick noodles and a white sauce. Later tried my parents' chicken parm leftovers and thought it was quite good. Portions are small so it took a bit of wine, appetizers, bread, and an entrée to fill us up. Not lacking at all in the flavor dept., but pretty expensive, so it's gonna be a special occasion kinda place for me.
Food was great and staff were attentive and friendly. They got the candle on the dessert for my daughter’s 21st Birthday. We enjoyed the evening.
Loved the vibe of this place. We sat upstairs, which has a large glass windows that overlooks downstairs and a cozy fireplace. The Brussel sprouts were amazing!
This is a go-to restaurant for my wife and me when we visit Los Angeles. The only drawback: a limited menu. But everything we've tried is excellent! Definitely worth a visit.
Everything is excellent. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts, carbonara, and butterscotch budino. The rigatoni was very tasty, but the walnuts didn’t add to the dish for me.
Great vibe and very reasonable wine prices. Love this place and wish I came here more often.
Great, as always!
The pasta under done and we was rush so I ate my dinner in a hurry the hostess made me very uncomfortable she kept stating that we're running into the next parties reservation and that we have so much time to eat. Let me tell you something I lived in restaurants all my life I've ate into the finest restaurants but I had never ever been rushed. My niece recommended and I was very embarrassed I'm very annoyed because I did enjoy my food.
Great food, fun vibe with fun music, excellent and fun service and certainly worth not your typical Italian dining.
First time here. Glad I made a reservation as placed was full by the time we left. Fantastic home made pasta. Crispy octopus salad - wow! Good device. Hidden gem as it has been there for 12 years but I only noticed it a few weeks ago (in my defense I am from Pasadena). Am keen to go back with other friends to share the experience and sample other menu items.
This was my first time going for brunch. Here is the rundown:
House Ricotta Toast - Excellent
Sauteed Farro - Fantastic
California Toast - Good
Rigatoni - Excellent/Spicy
Bucatini Carbonara - Wonderful (pictured)
This place is the gift that keeps on giving.
This was an anniversary dinner at the place where my lady and I had our first date. Still fantastic-
It was awesome! Great food, ambiance and service!
Osteria La Buca is by far my favorite Italian. I finally tried some new items this time. I highly recommend the roasted potatoes, which were fantastic. I normally order the pappardelle bolognese (which is fantastic), but this time went for the short rib ravioli. It was so delicious. I have also tried the cacio pepe which I highly recommend. Other favorites include the house-made ricotta (a must have!), the buca farm salad, and the burrata. Honestly, you really can't go wrong here. If you are unsure, the wait staff is really helpful with recommendations because they love the food, too!
It was great as always love this place
Some of the best Italian food in Los Angeles by far!
Good food and price , highly recommend it . Pasta amazing
This restaurant is perfect for every occasion
I love this place. Their pasta is some of the best I’ve ever tried in my life. You can tell the pasta is handmade and cooked al dente perfectly.
Love this place. Everything we have tried over the years has been delicious!
I've lived in LA so long and have driven past this restaurant countless of times. I've always wanted to try it and when I finally did, it did not disappoint! It has a cozy/romantic ambiance and great for dates and small gatherings. Service was great, I think we had our water filled 10X throughout our dining experience. Food was delicious and you can taste the quality. I would absolutely come back and highly recommend this place.
Nice restaurant. I’d eat there again. Bit chilly upstairs and definitely noisy despite being told it was quieter up there. Food was great. Service was pretty good. It did have to ask for bread a few times despite it being promised to arrive.
Love Osteria La Buca!!! It's my partner & I's chosen date spot.
Really wonderful vibe/ambiance - especially in the upstairs area. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. In terms of appetizers, we had the octopus and brussels sprouts - both superb. However, the two pasta dishes that we ordered, the nero spaghetti and campanelle were very oversalted. The main dishes were my only complaint. Overall, a nice experience.
We had a party of six and they gave us the private dining room-wow. Impressive. Food was palate pleasing, service was impeccable, and the price just right.
