About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for outdoor dining
Chef Eugenia Hobson and her team prepare authentic Greek dishes served attentively in a breezy Aegean-inspired atmosphere. Our signature dishes include the grilled octopus, the kolokithokeftedes (stuffed zucchini fritters), the lavraki whole fish (branzino) filleted table side, and the arni giouvetsi (lamb shank with orzo). Our selection of nine desserts are all made fresh daily in-house and feature Greek classics such as the baklava and the galaktoboureko. Our wine list is meticulously curated on a seasonal basis by son Philip Hobson selecting from Greece's top vineyards who produce indigenous varietals such as Assyrtiko & Xinomavro, and western grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon & Sauvignon Blanc. Our beer selection focuses on bottled Greek brews while our bar is fully stocked to serve both classic cocktails and signature drinks inspired by the best bars in Athens. Outdoor tables are available in the summer months. We are located steps away from Bloomies and Barnes & Noble.

Went for a graduation party. Made a reservation for three and arrived on time. The restaurant was slow but got seated right by a main door. I asked for a different seats and the front girl showed me attitude like rolling eyeballs and scoffed obviously. Our table server was very good and left good tips.

The place is truly an experience. The food is fantastic—exactly what you're looking for when you want to explore the cuisine of a different country. You can tell the ingredients are fresh, the quality of the products is excellent, the dishes are beautifully presented, and the portion sizes are just right. The appetizers are well-sized, and the main courses are generously served (some are even large enough to share). The desserts are delicious without being overly sweet. They also offer a 50% discount on wines on Wednesdays, which is definitely a great bonus! I first went based on a recommendation, and I returned the following week with people I wanted to introduce to the restaurant. After my second visit, I've continued recommending it to others, and I'll be back again soon to keep exploring the menu. The only area that may not quite match the quality of the food is the service. It would be great to see the same level of care and attention given to the dining experience as is given to the dishes themselves. Likewise, more attention should be given to the restrooms and their regular cleaning, especially on weekends when the restaurant is busiest and receives the highest number of guests. Keeping the facilities in top condition would further enhance the overall dining experience. If that happened, it would truly be a 10/10 experience.

FAQs

Portions at Our Mom Eugenia are generally generous. Guests often describe appetizers as shareable tapas-style starters and say entrees come in hearty portions, many people bring leftovers home. Sharing a few small plates between two or splitting appetizers as a meal is common. Keep in mind that the restaurant is on the pricier side, so totals rise when you add cocktails, wine, and starters.

Yes, Our Mom Eugenia is a popular choice for date night. Guests praise the warm, Aegean-inspired atmosphere, live Greek music on many nights, attentive service, and shareable, well-seasoned dishes (think grilled octopus, lamb chops, branzino and desserts like baklava). It’s great for a special evening, but note weekends and the expanded dining room can get lively and noisy; consider an outdoor table or an earlier weekday reservation for a quieter, more intimate experience.

Yes, the team is used to accommodating special requests. Guests report the staff is attentive to dietary needs (there’s a separate allergen-friendly menu for diners with celiac disease), celebrations (they’ve arranged birthdays and tucked-away seating), and seating preferences. For guaranteed accommodations (specific table, private room, or allergy cross-contact concerns), call the restaurant ahead of your visit.

Yes, families and children dine here frequently. Guests celebrate birthdays and family gatherings at the restaurant, and staff are typically accommodating (getting kids’ meals out quickly). There isn’t a specific kids’ menu noted in reviews, but several standard menu items and shareable appetizers work well for younger eaters. For high chairs, early seating or a quieter table, call ahead to ensure the best spot for your family.

Busiest: Friday and Saturday evenings (especially Saturday nights in Mosaic) and holiday evenings, guests report a lively, packed dining room and sometimes longer waits. Quietest: weekday lunches, early weekday dinners, and some Sunday/brunch periods tend to be calmer and better for conversation. Outdoor seating also feels quieter than the expanded indoor room on busy nights.

Warm, Aegean-inspired and convivial, the restaurant blends authentic Greek home-cooking vibes with polished service. Guests praise the friendly staff, live Greek music on many nights, and the upbeat, familial atmosphere. Note that the expanded dining room and weekend evenings can get quite lively and noisy; outdoor seating is a quieter option when weather permits.

For a calmer meal, go during weekday lunch or an early weekday dinner, guests report quieter service and easier conversation then. Sunday or midday brunches are also generally more relaxed. If you want a lively evening with live music and a buzz, pick Friday or Saturday night, but expect higher noise levels and a busier dining room.

The Mosaic location serves lunch, weekend brunch, and dinner. Typical hours are: Lunch Mon–Fri 11:00 am–3:00 pm; Brunch Sat–Sun 11:00 am–3:00 pm; Dinner Mon–Thu & Sun 3:00 pm–9:00 pm; Fri–Sat 3:00 pm–10:00 pm. If you’re planning a special booking (private party, large group or a holiday), call ahead to confirm hours or seasonal changes.

Yes, the restaurant welcomes families and can accommodate groups, but accessibility specifics aren’t always mentioned, so call ahead. Guests frequently bring children for birthdays and family dinners, and staff often prioritizes getting kids’ food out promptly. Some families noted helpful, tucked-away seating for large or younger groups, while a few mentioned narrow paths or stroller challenges after expansion. If you need wheelchair access or a specific table layout, phone ahead to confirm and request accommodations.

Smart casual. Guests typically dress comfortably yet neatly for a relaxed but polished dining experience. If you’re attending a special celebration or private party, you can lean a touch dressier, but there’s no formal attire required.

Yes, the restaurant accepts private parties and regularly hosts birthdays and group celebrations. Guests report the staff can reserve tucked-away spots for groups, split checks for larger parties, and accommodate celebratory details. For private-room availability and menu options for groups, contact the restaurant to plan in advance.

Yes, guests reference multiple Our Mom Eugenia locations in the area and note they’ve dined at other branches (Shirlington and other nearby locations). Many guests mention visiting different locations and enjoying consistent flavors across them.

Yes, outdoor tables are available in the summer months and many guests praise the patio as a quieter, pleasant option away from traffic. Outdoor seating is popular for people-watching in Mosaic and is frequently recommended by guests when weather permits.

For a relaxed meal, choose a weekday (Mon–Thu) or Sunday, guests say these times are less noisy and easier to enjoy conversation. If you want the full festive vibe with live music and a lively crowd, Friday or Saturday night is ideal, just expect more noise and busyness.

Guests report that the outdoor patio has welcomed dogs (one guest mentioned dining with their little dog, "Keeper"), so the patio appears dog-friendly. Policies around service animals and emotional support animals aren’t explicitly stated in the provided info, so call ahead to confirm rules for service animals or special accommodations.

Yes, the patio is used by guests with dogs, and reviewers describe enjoying meals outdoors with their pet. If you plan to bring a dog, especially a larger one or for a special request, call ahead to confirm current patio rules and availability.
