The service and team were amazing!! Thanks everyone for making our one year feel that much more special. We ordered a lot of food and overall the shareable’s were very good. The Brie was fantastic! The oysters were pretty small, but tasty, almost best to not have them on during the “off season.” The charcuterie board could use some more cheeses and variety. The main courses, Half Roast Chicken, and 24 Hour Braised Chuck Flat were delicious! Ending the meal with a nice S’more desert, which was pretty small for the price, but still yummy. Both the cocktails and mocktails we had were delicious. Would like to see a non-alcoholic wine option though. Definitely recommend it for a nice romantic night out.

Hello Anthony, we're honored to have spent your first anniversary with you and we're so pleased to hear it was a great success! For the future, we carry a selection of red, white, rose and sparkling wine options that are non-alcoholic. You can always ask to speak with our sommelier and they would be happy to share the details of which alcohol-free wine we have in-house. Thank you for joining us and we look forward to seeing you next time!

I had an early dinner in the Oval Room recently that was quite enjoyable. The prompt greeting at the front stand welcomed me to one of my favorite spaces. Fran, my server, supplied me with a glass of wine and some very good house made bread sticks while I perused the menu. The meal proved a success. A hearty mushroom soup impressed me with the burst of flavor as well as the texture that was more of a vegetable purée than a heavy velvety cream. Some fresh sourdough bread made a good accompaniment to the soup. It did double duty for the green salad and mussels that followed. Fresh Romaine lettuce, a savory, light Caesar dressing and grated parmesan made a refreshing transition to the next course The moules-frites look impressive. The taste reflects the appearance. Oval Room fries are a favorite. The mussels pleased the palate. Not overcooked, no closed shells, very balanced broth. Seasoning was spot on. The bread enabled me to enjoy the broth after the last mussels had been eaten. A good spring dinner, competent server, comfortable ambience. Just want I wanted.

The Oval Room is lovely, such a beautiful and elevated atmosphere. The smoked salmon eggs Benedict were so good, although it would be nice to have some green on the plate - perhaps a salad option to the has browns, or half and half. The chocolate raspberry cheesecake was AMAZING - so rich and creamy yet light. The only negative comment comes from my mother. She was really looking forward to the French press coffee, but found it quite weak. IT would be nice to have the option of how strong the coffee is. Overall, a fantastic experience!

My friend & I enjoyed all aspects of our Sunday brunch. Only the loudness of the people at another table interrupted our conversation and lovely Sunday brunch we were enjoying. Lastly with the parking platform being closed made my own access to the Oval Room very difficult. I am disabled and found myself searching for street level parking that was within a safe distance for me. Also as it was raining, I found it very difficult trying to walk to the Hotel’s main entrance without getting too wet. Why are there no accessible parking spots at the front of the hotel? Also there is no consideration for disabled patrons on or around the Hotel’s front entry stair cases.
Oval Room Brasserie – Fort Garry HotelResponded on April 15, 2026
Hello Karen, we thank you for sharing the challenges you faced when joining us for brunch, and we apologize for any frustration you experienced. Our parking garage wasn't closed on Sunday, so we're not entirely sure where you were trying to park. We have 2 accessible entrances; one is on Fort Street and brings you right into the lobby. The other one, is in the back of the building in our upper parking lot, which also brings you directly into the lobby. The upper parking lot is ideal for drop offs, pick ups and is free of charge to do so. In the future please don’t hesitate to give us a call for assistance as we want all our guests to arrive and depart the hotel with ease.

Guests frequently mention large, hearty mains (some described as "gargantuan") and shareable starters like pizzas and pull-apart sourdough buns. The menu also lends itself to sharing plates and appetizers for a group. Expect classic decor, cozy yet grand architecture and attentive service that makes special occasions memorable. The room can be lively at peak times (some guests note higher noise levels or echo), and occasional live music appears for events, which adds to the atmosphere.
