The staff at Pilar is the best thing that they have going for them. The food was nothing to get excited about and not very authentic. We started with caldo gallego which arrived to the table cold. My daughter ordered a vegetarian dish and the portion was really a tasting /snack size. The rest of our food did not arrive any hotter than the soup. We ordered a shrimp and steak dinner and they were just okay. Finally, the drinks needed to be sent back bc a very important ingredient was left out. It’s a cute place best for a coffee and dessert or maybe wine and beer with friends. I’m not in any rush to go back.

I have been here before but this time, all four members of our party thought the food was minimal and the price was high. The portions were extremely small for the appetizers. It also took a long time for us to get the check. I really like this place and I will go back. Hopefully they will do a better job with portion sizes.

We had fabulous appetizers and dinner. And we highly recommend the red sangria and end your dinner with the flan. Service was great!

Good is very good. However, the venue is very drafty in the winter. The only way to warm up is to drink and wear layers.

Pilar offers delicious, authentic Cuban food and tasty cocktails. My ropa vieja brought back the memories of my trip to Cuba :) cocktail with guava and ginger-lemon was refreshing and matched perfectly with the ambience :) would definitely recommend to anyone looking for Cuban cuisine in New York :)

Lovely experience! Delicious, flavorful food, nice atmosphere, and every staff member we interacted with was lovely. Already planning to bring family when they're here visiting from out of town. A great evening.
